I hope this is the right area to post this question. My apologies if it isn't.
I am working toward a Rorqual on one of my alts to compress ore in W-Space.
I notice that to compress the ore requires (ORE) Processing IV Skill but the toon that will be flying the Rorqual doesn't have any Processing skills.
Does the Rorqual pilot have to have the skills or can the Hulk pilots that have the skills use the blueprint to make the Rorqual compress?
Thanks for your time. |

the rorqual pilot
Basically the compression bpo's work like any other in game, to use said BPO you have to the skill that it requires.. so compress = *insert ore name here* level 4

I assume the rorq pilot will be a booster?
Assuming it won't take forever and a day -- you can skill the non-rorq pilot to use the rorq so you can compress that way.
yeah, it's annoying and wastes fuel... but it'll work as a stop-gap until you finish the skills that the "full time" rorq pilot needs...

The processing skills don't take that much time to skill up really, and they will be usefull when the rorq pilot has to do something other than boosting, for instance, say mining because nobody else is around ( or not enough miners anyway to make rorq boost effective )

To the above poster, a rorqual on ONE miner is 37% more effective. Doesnt matter how many.
To the OP. The skills to compress take around 25 days with +5's in, so id say about a month. Theyre more worth it than Mining Director 5, trust me. And get Ice Compression too. And clone vat bay. And capital shield boosting/armor repair and shield transfer/remote armor repair.
Either that or dont fly a ship that can do it all.

Depending on skills, a Rorqual does a lot better than that.
Laser Optimization gang link bonus: 2% cycle reduction Mining Director: 100% link bonus per level Warfare Link Specialization: 10% link bonus per level Mining Foreman Mindlink: 15% yield bonus and 50% mining link bonus Capital Industrial: 10% mining link bonus per level while deployed
Rorqual Deployed Max Yield Bonus = (1 + 15%) / (1 - 2% * 5 * (1 + 5 * 10%) * (1 + 50%) * (1 + 5 * 10%)) = 73.58% yield bonus
Rorqual Not-Deployed Max Yield Bonus = (1 + 15%) / (1 - 2% * 5 * (1 + 5 * 10%) * (1 + 50%)) = 48.38% yield bonus
For comparison, an Orca is a similar calculation, but uses Industrial Command Ships skill instead and only has a 3% mining link bonus per level.
Orca Max Yield Bonus = (1 + 15%) / (1 - 2% * 5 * (1 + 5 * 10%) * (1 + 50%) * (1 + 5 * 3%)) = 55.14% yield bonus
It costs very little ISK to keep a Rorqual deployed (roughly 180k/hour). However, it can be a pain to haul the Heavy Water into a wormhole (I use a freighter into our C5, so it isn't an issue for me).

If you buy compressed ice takes less space then as just hw if you use glare crust is 100m3 vs 400m3 dark glitter 100m3 vs 200m3 plus will prolly need lo for towers anyway

I think everyone who replied to this thread completely missed your question here. Which if I understand is, if the rorqual is sieged, can another pilot use the rorqual's 4 compression lines? I believe the answer is yes, but I've never tried it.
Everyone else is right that the rorqual pilot should be the guy starting the jobs though, it's just easier that way. Plus it's guaranteed to work --------------------------- Full Explanation of the Industry Index System |

I think that it was once possible, but was patched to prevent it.
Never bothered to test it myself either.
