I've downloaded and installed the Incarna patch and launched EVE.
Want to warn fellow Mac players that the first time you run Incarna, it takes a fair while to launch, and you will see no hint that it is launching on your Mac.
So, be patient. Click on the EVE icon then go make some tea or something.
I think what it is doing is moving the multi-Gigabyte EVE preferences out of ~/Library/Preferences/ to ~/Library/Application Support (which is where it ought to be so kudos to CCP), but this takes it a long time.
I force-quit EVE on my laptop thinking something had gone wrong. That broke it, it won't relaunch so I had to use Time Machine to get it back. On my iMac, I was more patient (and it did the job a lot quicker anyway), and it launched fine after 2-3 minutes of hard-disk chatter.

Edited by: Elesentra on 21/06/2011 14:39:53 Just to make this clear - you see NOTHING to suggest EVE is running. No dot next to EVE in the Dock, no splash screen. If you're lucky, you'll hear disk chatter, otherwise you get no warning at all that EVE is busy doing critical file updates.
My laptop needed 8 minutes of this before the Incarna Splash screen appeared and EVE launched.
My iMac needed 3 minutes.
So BE PATIENT.

Clients booted up for me now. It's got to where you need to scroll down to accept the EULA, though nothing is showing for the EULA and I can't scroll down. Probably waiting for the dbs or TQ to be online I suppose?

Renamed folder at "<user>/Library/Application Support/EVE Online/" to something else. This is the file created by the Incarna test versions on Singularity and Duality.
Restarted Incarna and waited for all the old preferences files to be copied over. After all those files were copied Incarna started up without a EULA request and using my most recent preferences.
I have shells of the old EVE client that all had their own preferences folders. I tried using one but the preferences and login info for the first account I tried came up. I can use the terminal command 'open -n /Applications/EVE\ Online.app' to get a second instance running but since they'll be sharing files I can't tell what will happen until the server is up and running.
Of all the bugs and posts I've made this is the one issue that the Mac users really needed addressing. |

I didn't reinstall. I had an EVE Online folder in Application Support from running the test versions and I think they moved some of the configs around. I renamed that folder and let it copy the old Incursion preferences folder and I no longer saw the empty EULA.
I'm not sure what happens with a fully clean install without existing prefs or app support folders. |

Okay, what I'm going to try, then, is wiping out the contents of "Application Support"/"EVE Online" and replacing it with a copy of the contents of my old "Preferences"/"EVE Online 1" folder (minus chatlogs and gamelogs). I'll post here to say how that goes. _____ SURVIVOR of Teskanen, fan of John Rourke. The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated |

I'd just rename the App Support version and let the client do the copying. Things may have moved. |

Okay, that worked. I'm no longer confronted with a blank EULA.
This is going to be a major problem, though for new Mac EVE players. _____ SURVIVOR of Teskanen, fan of John Rourke. The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated |

Is the full client up for download yet? I just tried it and it was showing as a 4.9 gig file and I thought the new one was around 6ish. Just got a new macbook pro yesterday (No not for incarna, just a really happy coincidence!) and wanted to start the fresh install as soon as I could.

Thanks, but their link for the full client just took me back to the eve download page which has the old version still I think.

I don't either.
And the login-screen animation is jerky for me unless there happens to be a window up (for example, if the "The server isn't currently accepting connections" window is displayed, then animation goes smooth)

All I did was click on the link above, wait for a download, click on the file I got and followed instructions.
I did remove the "eve online" folder from application support, the one n made by the sisi build.
It came right up, no long wait, no EULA to accept. The password does not show as its typed.

I picked this up from an E-Uni forum:
Possible gotcha for Mac users:
I made a backup of Eve, settings and prefs and tried installing the Incarna patch and hit this:
- CCP finally decided to use ~/Library/Application Support/EVE Online, instead of ~/Library/Preferences/EVE Online. First run of Incarna copies prefs over to the new path, (*does not delete the old ones*) so it might take a bit longer. - I had replaced the default Arial.ttf and Arialuni.ttf in the EVE Online.app bundle with the Mac OS X ones, so I could properly see hi-ASCII and other special chars in EVE. The patch removed these two files and *did not* replace them with CCP ones, so I got the blank EULA issue on startup. Deleted the *new* preferences/app support folder and re-copied the font files into the bundle. This fixed the blank EULA issue.
So: - If the final patch is unchanged, the old preferences folder will have to be deleted manually. - If you "fixed" the fonts, the patch breaks it for you. Backup the fonts from the bundle before patching.

BTW - we ain't goin' live before 23:30 anyway
http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1532385
I'd wait till then - a patch ought to resolve any 'font' issues.

So in other words, It's in my best interest to just delete EVE from my mac and download EVE and Incarna all over again - yes or no? ________________________________________________
