Just wanted to outline a few ideas on several topics that have been bugging me that just make sense in such a great game.
Free flight -
Give pilots more freedom to truly maneuver their vessels around in space. I have seen even the crappiest games include this feature.
Targeting Issues -
Is it me or are all of these highly evolved races in EVE Online stupid or can't be bothered to target and shoot their own weapons without the assistance of computers? With the addition to free flight, how about some ship classes being changed to being able to use weapons that don't lock or have targeting. Frigates or destroyers for example.
Freelancer had a decent system for this, you could free flight or enter a turret mode for this.
No skill involved but fake skill -
I've noticed and watched a lot of PVP fights and it seems to me that unless you have trained skills forever your actual skill doesn't help much. If you have the skills you just instant kill just about anything. Yes, yes, troll as much as you want but I think battles should take a little longer than half a second after locking sometimes. I have played games where battles between fighters/frigates could take 10 minutes or more to play out between two good skilled pilots. They were FAR MORE enjoyable fights as well.
People could use real flight skill to kill their enemies by leading their fire in front of their target and making corrections to their maneuvers and strategies on the fly. Not just simply having the most expensive gun, 10 months of training, and the most expensive ship; Real Skill.
UI Targets -
Can we please get a way to move the targets around our screen? Make then smaller and not take up so much damn space? Some people don't want a pretty picture of their target or even a UI element of a target on their screen aside from what is shown in space. EVE's UI is so F'ing cluttered sometimes with things you need out it is ridiculous.
New Industrial Ship -
Industrial Tugs! We have haulers, miners, PI Ships, Salvage Ships, why not a Tug class? This stems from another idea that I had so read more into the next idea...
New Deployable Space Structure -
Storage Stations. To be anchored in anything 0.8 sec or below. Three different sized structures that could be produced by production, using blue prints, possibly some T2 versions, modules to be anchored almost like a POS is. The idea is to lead to something higher for the hardcore mining factions and industrial corps out there. To be able to either manufacture it themselves or buy the pieces and anchor it. Lower standing requirement for high sec operations since it is not as functional as a POS.
The basic idea would be that they would have a core tower ''Storage Control Tower'' with the different sizes and tech versions. They would have different modules for defense/offense like weapons, ecm, etc. Other than this they would have storage silos that would be anchored down in space within a specific radius. The large towers could have refinery modules giving people something to save up for and work towards. Different sized towers could have larger defenses and silos obviously because of better cap and power cpu etc.
Anyway, just some of my ideas.
