The whole "wait 20 secs while you board" thing that happens when I attempt to change ships has got to go. It's a lie, because my barbie was standing on the balcony all the time.
Perhaps a better idea might be a 20-30 second animated carousel as one ship leaves the FOV and the next comes into the boarding area.

After First Hour ingame: (+) Turrets look awsome Beautiful and useless Stationbureao - deactivated to save time
(-) I want back our english spooken "Warp Drive Active" on german Clients. - What about an option like "Audio-Language" The new Turret-Icons on HUD are ugly - why change an intuitive icon like the tractorbeam-magnet into something like twisted poo-poo (sorry that was my first impression)

Edited by: Nikki Sanderson on 22/06/2011 08:55:02 Pretty much everything about Incarna has been said multiple times already and not just in this thread. I've looked at it and stumbled around for maybe 5 minutes, and then you're like "that's it"? This is just not worth burning out your GPU over, way hotter GPU means shorter lifetime for my hardware, no thanks, especially since GPU temp doesn't go down when you minimize the client and/or strip away detail levels.
All sense of scale for your ships is gone. It's a horrible, terrible idea to place frigates nearer to the balcony to make them as big as battleships. Terrible, horrible, immersion-breaking, steaming pile of bad. Remove that "zoom" ASAP. The balcony view gives you a real chance to show off the scale of battleship vs. shuttle and CCP just ignores the possibilities.
AUR prices are ridiculous.
Turrets are nice, we will get used to the new icons, no biggie.

Hello CCP,
the only thing that really shocked me was your pricing for new clothes.
Did you copy a facebook app like farmvile? I'll never pay 50+ Ç for a virtual clothing as long as my brain works. But the bad thing is, there are enough nerds who will and you get your money CCP. It's ok, you are a company that wanna earn as much as possible. But look at the long term goal and you'll loose many customers and your good reputation.
Check eve onlines rating at mmorpg.com or other sites like that in a couple of weeks ...
Again! I can't believe those insane REAL MONEY prices for alternative clothes. You acting like all the scammers and criminals in eve. When something new comes out, evereybody of them wanna make as much money as they can just by overpricing the new stuff! And now you do the same. Thats just sad.
But you know what happens to those people? They get blocked and nobody thrusts them anymore!

ISSUE BROUGHT FORTH A FEW WEEKS AGO.
The CQ environment (still) runs worse than 3 times slower compared to the old hangar view.
Even people with NEWER graphics cards will "suffer" from video card overheating due to nearly three times the workload being required (compared to the old hangar view).
The first step seems to have been taken - we have the option to NOT load the CQ environment. What it does is keep displaying the "Loading" screen on the background without ever actually loading anything. This is a decent fallback for the people with less than stellar performance machines which would be overwhelmed by the extreme graphics of the CQ, but it's a very poor compromise for people that actually wanted to run the CQ environment every now and then.
BUT IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE ONLY TEMPORARY !!! WTF ?!? BLOG linkage
A much better fallback however would be the option to maintain the current hangar view alongside the CQ environment. Sure, start off new players inside the CQ if you want, make the option to load the old hangar instead of CQ hard to accidentally find in the menu if you want, but allow the option to remain. It even makes far more RP sense - the boarding of a pod and subsequent exit from it is supposed to be a relatively slow process, and you're not supposed to look exactly tidy (all covered in pod goo and naked) the moment you get out of a pod, so getting out of it every time you dock makes very little sense. Keeping the current station environment alongside CQ should not be such a big deal (I mean, how hard it can be NOT to delete something), and it would go a long way towards appeasing some people that don't even know yet that they'll be annoyed by its absence (let's face it, not everybody knows what's coming, and you can fully expect a horde of angry people coming to the forums for the first time to complain).
But let's say that for some reason, you can't keep the old hangar environments, no matter what reason. The current compromise only allows us to select between CQ at same graphics detail as the rest of the game, or no CQ at all (just a blank screen with the neocom on it, from what I understand). The problem that should be obvious with that is the fact even the lowest detail level CQ has a noticeably worse framerate compared to the highest detail level current hangar or space environment. CQ and space need to have two completely separate sets of graphics options, and a much lower graphics detail option than the ones available now needs to be present. Ideally, you should be able to set it in such a way that inside CQ you can get roughly the same FPS as you can get while flying in space. Granted, some parts of CQ would look like crap under those conditions and at the current development level (heck, some parts look bad even on highest everything right now), but that's a different story.
So, to recap, if CCP insists, well, ok, keep the CQ environment as the default enabled option, but:
* MANDATORY - separate the CQ from the non-CQ graphics detail settings into two completely separate groups which you can set differently
* MANDATORY - keep the ESC menu option to not load any environment at all
* STRONGLY PREFERRED - add some even lower graphics detail levels for CQ
* OPTIONAL BUT HIGHLY DESIRABLE - do not delete the current hangar environments AND make them an alternative (default disabled) via the ESC menu
Hell, ideally entering CQ would be a station service button in the old hangar view !
This. CQ is nice but it fries my 2 year old machine. I can't afford a new rig. If we are forced to eat CQ, make it possible to run it without frying my machine. Space runs fine with all settings maxed out. ----- Malevolence. is recruiting. Dive into the world of 0.0 !

I like the idea of the CQ, I don't mind the nex shop. Overall I'm pleased with the changes, but there are two big issues for me, and they have been mentioned and gone over time and time again but I want to add my voice to it.
1. The hangar is where I spend a lot of idle time. I haven't looked at a hardware monitor yet, but when I'm in my CQ my fans spin up like crazy. I don't want that running in the background, it can't be good for my hardware. PLEASE let us keep the option not to render the station for when we're idling around. It's insane that you would even consider taking it out.
2. Nex prices. I laughed out loud when I saw those. I thought the station marketplace in EQ2 was bad charging ten bucks for an entire outfit for one character, but this... this just... I can't even form the words. I'm the type that might actually buy something there from time to time, but never... not in a million years... with those prices.

I do like the ability to have an actual character instead of just a portrait now, but it is not quite the same as in the character creator, and character movement seems a bit clunky. Honestly it is easier to control my Guild Wars character. Yes the graphics are much better here, but that is all the more reason to expect the behavior to be too.
I must say that it seems the devs went insane with this new currency and vanity item store too. I saw only a few items, and all of them were outrageously priced. Like others have said, real clothes are cheaper than these. The way the real world economy has been lately only the rich will be able to afford these things, and many of them probably wouldn't want to spend so much on something they'll only see a small part of the time anyway.
Originally by: kala Alar Pod-Pilots feel uncomfortable outside their pods, so why dont you give us back the old hangar view and an option like "Enter Station". That would fit much better in the Atmosphere of eve and the fact that we are pod-pilots!
This is actually a good idea, since often a pilot may not want to go to all the effort of getting out and back into the pod just to rearm or repair. The current system does increase loading time, and my PC is not even a year old. It is not so much that I really mind it, but that may change after many docks. CEO Lone Wolf Supply Co. |

Very nice, but I expected abit more to be honest, for one... it seems your CQ looks the same doesnt matter wich station you are in. I wouldve expected that each station type (gallente, caldari, ammar etc) would have their own unique look of the CQ.
Also, abit dissapointed at the limited amount of items for sale through Noble Exchange. I hope more items will be available soon.
PS! The turrets look awsome

Edited by: Ravior Letam on 22/06/2011 09:22:46 I kinda like it. It doesnt really adds new stuff besides the grafical updates and the Agent finder, but I like it, as I expect to be able to share my captain's quarters with my friends in a while. I hope that Chars actually look at each other and are able to interact with each other as well. I would love that :)
Feature request: I think the player should be able to move the camera just like in space around its Character (both mouse buttons pressed), since I would like to look at me and others without having my char in the way. And yes, the camera displacement from the char is no replacement for that.
Feature: Being able to run. Of course, when you're not connected to a computer with your brain, you actually need to go somewhere to push the buttons you want to be pushed. But real people go faster sometimes, if they dont want to spend to much time just to get something to eat f.e.
Feature: Laying on bed. I would like to do that before I log out and see my character wwaking up wafter logging in. Wouldn't that be cool? Also, my Character should move more when Idle. For example, when sitting on the Couch, the Character could lay down on it after a while, or just make himself more comfortable.
So far, ok overall. But I want my Gallente Captains Quarter :) And I wait for interaction with others, since this is the real goal of Incarna: Love :)

No matter what CCP does, you lot will nag and complain anyways. I run 2 games at the same time with both in station (yes, on one computer). All I'm running is an AMD Athlon 6000+ dual core 3.0ghz CPU, 4GB RAM (Using a 64bit OS), 1.5TB HDD space and an Nvidia GTX 9800+ (1GB) graphics card...with a 256kbs internet connection. No problems, blown a few ships up today and lost just as many, hasn't impacted my pewpew in any way.
I enjoy walking around in the station, a change from station spinning. And sitting down playing the market, getting names of bounties, keeping up to date with sov changes and getting names of new pilots to recruit has made waiting for my GCC to cool down a LOT more enjoyable. Only problem I see is the massive expense behind the clothing items.
For all those complaining, grow up, get with the times and get a damn life.
CCP, step in the right direction. Thank for you the FREE expansion and for bring EVE that step closer to being a full scifi reality for us to enjoy (and thanks for all the hard work too).

TBH
My Evaluation is this has been a total waste of time and developer resources, if I wanted to play walking in broom cupboards I would have chosen another mmo, not sure what I was expecting but this has been over hyped and under developed, turrent animations have been only thing of real consequence, the actual icons on your HUD looks like something out of a comic book that's been scribbled.
Will I use walking in broom cupboard in it's current form ? Nope, not when cot and alliance shops are developed then maybe just maybe, but this expansion has been the inti climax of my eve history of 4 years.

This expansion is a colossal disappointment, and I'm very sad that you've spent so long working on something that so dramatically detracts from my core gameplay of Spaceships and PVP. What's worse is that it seems to have been released in this state solely so that you have an excuse to gouge every last dime you can out of your player base. I'm sorry, CCP. I ...... just can't do this. I'm really happy that CCP has finally changed to gradually rollout add-ons with incursion and continue on this path for incarna. So, I'm quite happy with the first step. The CQ has a great potential (that will hopefully be used) and makes docking, when you're not in a hurry, very restful and nice, especially the main screen. So, I'm really looking forward seeing the stations grow piece by piece :) Great job there!
But, I must approve many of my pre-posters that in a combat situation or just for moving from one mission to another, the new docking mechanism is too slow... a capsuleer should decide when to leave his pod, as he is basically disgusted by the outer world anyways, setting foot on it as rare as possible.
I really appreciate the new turret animations, even though we Minmatar surely didn't get the coolest ones, but it's okay as we have the most patched ships anyways :D Still, I must admit that the new weapon icons are too unclear.
In terms of performance, I'm really surprised about all the comments as there hasn't been any changes for me at all. On the contrary, the fluidity of the game has improved, client starts faster, logging into station as well, even on two simultaneous clients. I'm running a Intel Core Duo Quad with 2.7 GHz each, 4GB RAM and GeForce gtx 275 512MB that hasn't exceeded 57¦C with both clients running on max graphics.
The only thing I really can't live with is the NeX with its ridiculous prices for mostly worthless things... I'm only interested in one piece, the ocular implant (I don't know whether its available outside of Minmatar stations), but I'm surely not going to spend 60 Euros or 4 months of subscription for it!

I said it gives me something to do other than station spin while waiting for GCC, I dont bother with the clothing crap (whats the point). The fact that you can sit on the couch ingame and do the stuff I noted while waiting is good. The news feed is a handy thing to watch while you're playing the market due to the information it gives you about bounties, new pilots, market details, incursions and sov changes. I don't think I mentioned anything else other than the Aur prices being a joke.

Honest answer:
I'm playing since 2006 and this is one of the worst patches until now. The Captains Quarter may look nice on the first look but add no real content or functionality, instead they are a massive waste of ressources. I'm pretty thankful that you added the button to turn it off. To show the difference: pre-patch i was able to run 2 clients with pretty much high settings. After the patch i had to turn down everything to low-medium just to have 2 characters docked. In space everything runs smooth, maybe even smoother than pre patch. The problem is only you have to turn everything down to be able to make use of the game while dock whereas the game in space runs perfectly fine and you have to play with crappy graphics just for the sake of the captains quarters. My conclusion: Turn CQ of as it doesn't add anything of need, get a massive performance gain while in space and don't bother anymore with it. Tho it would be nice to add the old animation for people who don't mind CQ or want to play with more than one Client.
PS: I find it kind of amusing that in a spacegame the limiting factor to play it is a single room.
