If the "load station environment" option remains optional, then me and my alts will have no problem.

Although I do agree with what a lot of people are saying concerning performance and graphic/lighting quality, I think it's a step forward, no matter how small. An idea I had regarding people wanting their old station environment back...why not load the old environment when you dock up and be given the option to exit the ship/pod and go to your CQ, simply making it an option.

well im not surprised about the ammount of hate in this thread and i belive it speaks for most eve players and so it should
im a regular test server user and nearly all of the bugs i have seen on there have made it onto tq when we have bug reported them which just proves my point to not even bother because they just accuse you of being a idiot, EVERY single person on sisi asked ccp to make a feature were you can turn it off properly and have the old station hanger back but we didnt get that because its another proven point ccp dont give a s++t about you and just want your money
also they promised to csm that the hanger new hanger environment will not delay docking changing ship and undocking well guess what it clearly does so thats promise broken i really can go on for ever there just soo many bugs in the current tq build now so bug hunters take a massive holiday ccp dont listen to you
i hope you loose alot of money ccp because you so deserve it terrible company >>>> (CCP) better company >> (apple)

Hi,
CQ, guns animation and etc is all cool, but...
I wouldnt mind a small picture in the upper left screen showing what ship is active while station environment is not loaded? The picture from ship info would suffice.

What a waste of time
Seriously, CQ is just pointless. There is nothing useful about CQ and it took you three years to make it happen? It could well be that CCP might find something useful to do with it but I have to wonder how many current players will still be around for that.
Bugfixes are cool. Noone can disprove of that. Increased CPU wear and tear just for a useless feature. Lot of dissapproval going on.
There was a time expansion's used to add things to the game. Cool things like wormholes, PI, even incursions (annoying though I personally find them)
This "expansion" we got to listen to fans whirring away for no good reason and a LAUGHABLE vanity store.

This is actually what I'd suggest as well, CQ is just useless, it's an internet Spaceshipgame and no "Hello Kitty walking around Stuff".. If you want to see your ship you might but there would be no need to do so...
In my opinion the whole CQ is just wasted time. You should have used it to fix all the other Bugs/Problems..

Edited by: Charlie Aires on 22/06/2011 09:52:57 Thanks for killing FPS, CCP Prior patch i was able to play it with 55-65FPS. Now I'm down to 35, while walking down to 25 to 13FPS
Back to one Monitor
Yes, it's nice to walk around a bit, and it looks nice, but only the first 10min and now its already boring. I can't see any improvement for the gameplay.
And the NEX is pure highway robbery! It's a bloody, lame try to destroy PLEX in the hope to get more RL money!

Good thing : the agent finder
Bad thing : apparantly the guy that redesigned the turrets doesn't actually play the game. Instead of clear icons for my tractorbeam, salvager I have now 2 rather dark things and I'm having to guess what is what. Now that will probably get better after a while, but it will never be user-friendly. Visually jumping in the inventory to my mining-lasers seems also a thing of the past. More grey, dull stuff. Also having 2 turrets actives on a ship gives terribly bad low-res graphs.
Captain Quarters is already turned off. The old stuff was good enough.

Captains Quarters is pretty but is only held my attention for about 5 minutes enough time to walk about & go ômehö reminds me of the Playstation flat thing & seems to add little to my game experience an option to switch back to hangar/ship view would be nice as the static view is a bit dull, though it does mean docking is quicker.
New turrets & effects are nice though. Not bad CCP not bad....

Thanks for the effort CCP, the Incarna patch was a nightmare to deploy on my side. After many server issues whiel trying to download Incarna, and several attempts to download the installer, I am finally up and running a few hours after I started to try and get EVE to work.
While Incarna all looks very good, I have to side with other players here. Is the end result worth the compromise in performance to the game itself? All that extra CPU load on your servers for a few visual changes on the client doesn't seem like the smartest decision considering the CPU performance problems in the past.
As yet, I have not had opportunity to test the gaming aspects of Incarna, but from the comments above it is clear that players are not happy. I will however, reserve my complaints until such time as I have ahd opportunity to test gameplay for myself.

First Post.
This is not an expansion. This is akin to Microsoft putting out a new version of Visual Studio with the only addition being a new class for the CLR that does absolutely nothing, or Blizzard putting out an expansion that has ... a room with 5 objects you can interact with.
A room. A simple, small, room that has absolutely no use except to watch a ticker-tape go across a virtual screen--only if you want to slowly (SLOWLY) walk into your "office". A room you can't even invite a friend or two in.
What is this? It's a start to something, yes, but it's a tiny--a TINY--piece of a gigantic puzzle that should have been held back until more content is available.
Don't get me wrong, I love the new turrets and animations, but let us be honest: could you, CCP, have done better? Definitely.
I can't say I'm surprised though, especially when hearing about DUST and how it is a console-only game, that this would come about. I think, CCP, it's time to lay back on some of your toys and start to focus on the game that made you the money to make other games.
Just a thought.

I think that was CCP Punkturis (or something like that, she was interviewed during the AT as part of team BFF), who is a she. She's also an ex-Icelandic Badminton champion. The icons make me think she should perhaps spend less time playing with shuttlec÷cks and more time playing EVE.

I for one actually understand Incarna's importance and that the CQ was a needed step in that direction.
That said, I also understand that the CQ part of Incarna did not have to be forced on the playerbase. You could have easily implemented an "unpod if you want" option and made a lot of your fanbase happy.
That was your first mistake with Incarna and sadly one we knew was coming, like that ass in Austin Powers who stands there waiting to be ran over by a steam roller.
However, despite the many complaints made about the NEX when it was first announced, all the wild theories about PLEX costs and "pay to win" scenarios, nobdy imagined the issue would be CCP pricing the items at a level that exceeded stupid and went straight to Ludicrous. After the embarrassing debacle of Tournament IX and now this, even your hardcore supporters are beginning to think you've lost your damned minds.

No, most people who use the forums and can be bothered to post think this is a waste of time.
How much of the 40k-odd active playerbase have posted?
You see, at one end of the scale you have people who moan and complain and tend to use the forums more. People who are genuinley hacked off with it will quit. They proabably wont find the need to tell the world about it on the forums.
At the other end of the scale you have people who think CCP can do no wrong "fanbois" if you will. They also like to post on the forums to draw attention to themselves.
In between this lot you have the overwhelming majority of the players - they tend to just get on with it and play the game, they are the moderate majority who can see that incarna is mainly a cosmetic patch that doesnt change their playstyle and normal gaming at all. They tend not to post on forums very often.

Initial load times for captains quarters were worrying, but it is pretty quick after several undock/docks. So its not too bad, but i would prefer to have the old hanger view back (with quick access to ship cargo bay etc.) and then have the option to "leave ship" and enter captains quarters. Its going to be very annoying for hauling ore back and forth from belts. I don't think Incarna should effect my the space side of the game, but being forced to load the captains quarters does effect it a lot.
At the moment, Captains quarters are very pointless and nothing more than tech demo. Hopefully this will change in the future but i fear it has already distracted and diverted much development time from space. Mining would be far more deserving of CCP's time.
I like the new turret system but they seem to be bugged. They are always deployed... so i don't get to see the awesomeness of them popping out :P
The major outrage is the cost of Artum and then cost of clothes etc. It makes me feel that CCP want to milk us for money. It will be a major factor in deciding how many months of gametime i should allow CCP to have my money for... there are plenty of other games out there, too bad CCP aren't concentrating on the space features that make Eve on-line unique.

And to top it all off, I don't even get to see a static view of my ship when I'm docked any more without having to mess around with cameras. The fact it's floating seems dumb now too - when it was JUST there there was a suspension of disbelief, but now it seems stupid without docking clamps or whatever.
Please, please, please make CQ optional and give us a "station view" option like there was before.
The Maller looks nice I guess though. Maybe you can do a patch where you make all the old, ugly ships look nice (DOMINIX)

Edited by: LordElfa on 22/06/2011 10:26:26 I'll be honest, other than my missing warp stream effect that existed before Incarna, I haven't had a single issue or bug show up since the patch. My frame rate is fine and it all works as normal.
That said, its not the delivery here that's the issue, its how and what you delivered.

What about walk in stations? Wasn't Incarna announced introducing it? I only get some cryptic message which leads me to think dealines have not been matched to provide the feature. Is this still planned, and if so, is there some information when this might be ready for use?

1. We need to stay in our ships when we dock. As far as PVP goes this can't change. It's common for fleet members to leave on a CTA or roam with a missing mod, or need to change their setup en route to a destination. Being able to buy stuff in transit, divert away from fleet, dock, fit, undock and catch up with fleet is a fundamental requirement. Adding technical barriers to the efficiency of this operation is not good.
2. It's not enough to have an option to turn Incarna off even though I'm sure we appreciate that setting. I want to use Incarna and I'm really looking forward to using it beyond CQ but I also need the fast refit / ship change option. There needs to be a disembark option and if we don't disembark then we don't get hit with the performance requirements of Incarna. Dock/refit/undock should be as fast as it was pre-Incarna as long as we don't disembark.
Dude you can still fit your ship the second you enter the station. The load times have really changed insignificantly unless your running the game on an etch-a-sketch.
hmmm, interesting. Thanks for the info. The box is generally swift; quad core, 4GB RAM, water cooled. Station loading is taking a lot longer than pre-Incarna though. I'll see what my drive throughput is like. That could possibly be the cause. But nevertheless, the request not to leave my pod unless I want to walk around still stands... it's an emersion thing. I don't get out of my car every time I stop at a red light. :) |

Pre-patch;
4 Clients running without any problems.
After patch: 2 Clients running wihout any problems. (CQ enabled) 3 Clients running with some problems. (CQ enabled) 4 clients computer almost grinds to a stop, eating up all my ram (4GB can upgrade thats no problem, not sure if it helps though.).
I like the CQ idea, i dont like the disable option, as that should show the Hangar view as normal imho. And optional.
In other words; I like the patch, but the "weight" of the game has gon out of proportions. - Dude where is my Charon? - |

Originally by: Soden Rah Why would I post more feedback here when you ignored all our feedback in test server feedback?
To reiterate.
Bring back the old hanger view so CQ is not mandatory on docking
give us separate graphics settings for in space and in Incarna
put the pod in a room, not on the end of the balcony
improve performance so recommended spec machines don't melt
having reinstated the hanger view, remove the crappy in space UI from Incarna and give us a proper one designed especially for it (one that works in the environment not opening windows that cover it).
make things in incarna take time, so every step away from the pod is one that has to be taken back.
the lighting sucks, if their are only a few sweet spots in which the avatar looks good you are doing it wrong, add more uplighting, and wall lighting, if you still want dark and gloomy, make the walls darker and less reflective, and then up the lighting so our chars still get properly lit,
the vanity store is a catastrophically bad idea, and the pricing is laughable. get rid of it. No to MT in eve.
give us back unlimited ship fittings
make it optional to create a new portrait when recustomising our chars, we shouldn't need a new passport photo for changing our hair.
fix the bug that means you have to wear invisible trousers under the dress
fix the camera offset so walking forwards is forwards for the char not towards centre screen (dual screen issue), and keep camera offset for zooming out. Also probably make it go the same way as the in space offset not the opposite way from in space
Communicate more, sooner, and better... you know what I am talking about. If we knew that you were trying to do here, we could have told you how dim it was before you spent ages coding it.
I would also recommend for future patches including known bugs/defects in the patchnotes, with assurance they will be fixed in later patches. That way people know before hand.
and I DID tell you so.
Also, if you remove the current only option of having a half decent dock, in disabling CQ with 'don't load station environment' is removed... I will be unsubbing.
Soden sums it all up nicely.
