For the record, among all of the negative responses about CCP's apparent divergence away from the true spirit of Eve or whatever, I welcome the change. I think it was a good thing to have realized; for years we've wanted ambulation, now we have it. Incarna 1.0 is just a small step towards a larger experience in Eve, a game that has a truly huge degree of scope. I think that this patch will perhaps be one of the most important in that it has opened new possibilities in the gaming experience.
I'm sure this post will be trolled, since the forums seem so negative, but for what it's worth, I am glad to see the CQ introduction. I know it'll lead to bigger things.

Demonstrations, including hands-on?
CQ is a much newer addition to the Incarna project than all the other stuff, it just turned out to be the easiest to roll out first. _______________________________________________ æA planet is the cradle of mind, but one cannot live in a cradle forever.Æ ùKonstantin Tsiolkovsky |

Logic, really. Eve, traditionally, has been about exploring the content from the confines of our ships and thus we have been limited to solar systems and galactic exploration. By virtue of the fact that the spaceship is a vehicle with a defined context we have been limited by that context. Now that the characters have been introduced it opens up a huge new area of exploration.
I believe this started with Planetary Interaction. All PI really does is focus us on the idea that planets are commodities (or provide commodities), resources to be fought over. PI was the first level of interaction -away- from the internet spaceship, though supportive of it because of it's economic impact.
By introducing characters (albeit, very limited with the CQ at the moment) you provide a vehicle in which you can explore those planets as well as other environments (Stations, perhaps interiors of a POS, or a Sleeper installation... etc). In a galaxy with around 7500 solar systems now each system could provide a seemingly limitless amount of content to explore.
Dust 514 can provide a context for interacting with planets on a further scale, Incarna could provide an avenue to interact with other pilots 'in the flesh' Imagine assassinations, etc, imagine that after you cleared a site you could than enter a complex to find other treasures that your ship's scanners could find.
The specifics aren't really important at this stage. Really what Incarna 1.0 demonstrates is the willingness to expand the context of the game. Our CQ is really just a toy, a trinket to show the public that CCP is working on a larger scope for Eve.

Sure but when? It took five years to get what is basically a glorified closet. -- This was the time, CCP was still CCP, it was good. |

Faith that a GB of updates would not be devoted solely to adding a laggy closet full of "please shoot me" apparel unless there was some gameplay at the end of the rainbow?

INCARNA would have been a blast if we STILL COULD DO THIS alongside it. All we get now is a DOOR WTh?
For those that want WIS and whatnot yep, good , but sometimes you just want to fit, change pve/pvp setup in a sec and then undock right away, after scotty told you you could. All of that is gone with Incarna since even the door is "temporary" MEH ---Archipelago Theory---

Well to be honest, I'm glad you like it. Not all the patch is bad and it IS cool to walk around the station. Although I'd rather my character could RUN but w/e still, its a start.
Overall don't like the very NOTION that 'Micro-transactions' have come to Eve, especially where Eve is very much a 'Pay to Play' and these transactions have no place here. Ever. Never. If so, well, it could spell the end of MMOs as we know them, ending the days where you could pay 15 a month and have access to all the content. Period.
If anything CCP will be remembered with hatred by players in this game and others for making this a reality in games. Because for game companies the bottom line anymore is about making money, not about making their players happy, unless making their players happy means getting money from them. ------------------------------------------------ This http://www.xtranormal.com/watch/12238558/a-fictionalized-account-of-the-events-that-led-to-june-21st |

Agreed, the microtransaction bit is a little, unnerving, but we're seeing it pop up everywhere in MMOs. As long as they remain cosmetic and not game influencers, I've no problem with it. As for the prices <shrug> Eve's market has been known to fluctuate with new items greatly, I imagine that the clothing is no different and will balance out eventually. I know that I have no intention of spending money on them...
But really, I see this as a seperate item. CCP has introduced a number of new, very different changes in this patch. Which is why I think that people are responding so negatively towards it. Lets face it, folks don't like change.
