I have a pretty good machine, I run alot of GPU/CPU intensive games - Crysis2, BF:BC2, Just Cause 2 etc.. At very high settings & they look great & I get good FPS, no probs.
I'd say my machine did an average job in CQ, FPS were less than optimal & any sudden panning around the environment caused drastically reduced frame rates.
Seems to me CCP has a little way to go with the engine, it's as though it's resource hungry, I mean it's not as though the CQ is anything that fantastic as far as virtual environments go, why the high demand on resources?

CPU: i7 940 GCard: NVIDIA GeForce GTX260 RAM: 8GB Watercooling system (because I have no air conditioning, sigh. Ambient temp 25C)
I don't know how to check the GPU temp (cant find the software) or FPS, but the CPU temp went from 45 (system average) to 55 with the occasional odd quick spike on c1 to 60-62C - not sure what the spike was associated with as I was just sitting watching the monitor in CQ. No stutters or slideshow though, everything seemed to be moving smoothly.
No air conditioning here, and it's warm in here already

Those my specs. Temps rock out at ~50C on my CPU in station, with video card at a normal 75-80C. Not too hot for the 260, though. It allows another 10 degrees before stuff starts to get dicey.
I get anywhere between 30-60 FPS. For some reason my game loves to be at either 30 or 60. Not really a lot in the middle. ALL settings on High, including AA/HDR. Running at 1920x1080 with no artifacts.

Between 30 and 40 fps in CQ on high quality at 1920x1080. Reducing quality doesn't seem to increase fps for me so maybe there is some cap in there. Anyway, it's very smooth for me.
I only have one active account so I only run one client.

Congrats on the 5 GHz club. Since I'm a nerd and a curious one at that, what vcore are you running @5? How are your temps?

I notice Speedfan is able to read most Nvidia GPU temps I run it on. I also used to use GPU-Z

That's your 100% load temps? Cause wow, that's silly cool even if you are watercooled at 5 GHz! I don't think mine can do 5 on 1.4 (and I've not tried higher than 4.5). I'm currently sitting at 4.3 on 1.3 vcore (and unsure if I can knock this down and still be stable). 1.4 seems to be a nice number for 5 GHz too - doubtful all that many 2600ks can pull that. You've got HT on?
I ask cause I spent days reading all the 2600k/2500k overclocking guides I could find. You've got a nicer mobo than I have - folks running my particular gigabyte board seem to need more vcore than the asus pro boards.

You know even tho I am such a fan of CPU-Z I have never tried HWmonitor from that place. Thank you for reminding me!
I love it!!! I like speedfan's features but this really works well! and less of a hit on resources.
Thank you again!
(For those wondering just google hwmonitor and it shows it by CPUID. No need for the installer just grab the Zip version ((32 bit if you are not sure)) and run it)

Edited by: Hyperforce99 on 22/06/2011 10:14:48 Quite frankly, even the witcher 2 runs better then the CQ does on my machine. I'm getting a framerate of 15-20 fps in the CQ, with 60+ FPS outside the CQ, at the same settings. Is it just me or has eve suddenly become a lot heavier to run. I'm incapable of properly running more than 1 client when docked without lowering or unloading the CQ.
My machine is a Toshiba Satellite, gaming laptop of about a year old.

Heh, you're welcome lol. Glad I could help (admittedly not knowingly lol) since I think you've done a good job keeping the temperature thing in perspective this morning.
I downloaded just about every little hardware monitoring thing I could dig up through google when I put my system together since I planned on overclocking (the 2500k/2600k are just TOO tempting to oc!).

Don't know if you're interested but I'm using the following Thermal paste with great results.
Thermal Paste
I appreciate I probably have gotten a good "batch" processor wise & the performance is incredible compared to my old 920.
Team that with a SSD & its processing heaven.

Funny enough I found a page that listed the results of testing something like 80 thermal compounds. While my Zalman goop wasn't the absolute best, it did rank in the top tier and was graded an A (as I recall your Diamond got an A+ with about half a degree better performance than my stuff).
I think your processor has it over mine. Having said that, I am still pleased. It's a hell of a step up over my previous 5+ year old AMD dual core. My main reason for sticking to the 4.3 speed is because I'm preferring to keep the vcore low (I've read about this 1.35 vs 1.5 debate - some say keep it under 1.35, others say 1.5....). At the end of the day, it crushes my old rig (as it should) and it's not like I'm doing anything that I even need the overclock I have.
Still, as a fellow 2600k owner - that's some nice stuff you've got there!

We've got a nerd fist-bump thing going on talking thermal paste and cooling solutions lol. I can't say I think too highly of Incarna at this point, but I've had a damned fun time talking nerdy computer stuff with you folks this AM. My friends' only concern is that I know something... so I can fix their machines. Nice to know I'm not alone in nerding out with this stuff.

So far this seems to cover a wide variety of hardware, resolutions, and client settings. It appears many of us are able to run CQ well enough for our liking, while others are finding increased temperatures and a few others marked slowdown. Even more encouraging, not every rig posted here is a "monster" gaming machine. It appears that so long as the computer is decent (not incredibly aged) and the temperatures are kept down (by cleaning or proper care), there should be very few problems experienced with CQ.
While I do not mind the occasional troubleshooting and advice here, let's try and expand even more upon information that would help CCP (or others) narrow down what is not working well.
The common demons are: High CPU and GPU usage (whether or not the polygons are optimized enough) resulting in high temperatures, occasional lag reports or freeze/stutters, and a somewhat expected difference in performance when compared to being undocked and active.

I've just cancelled both my accounts!
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 @ 2833Mhz 8192 MB DDR2-SDRAM Geforce GTX 580 - 1024MB
I like the new stuff (Played WoW for 320 days ;-D) and I like the new turretdesigns and sounds.
My problem is, however, that my southbridge on my motherboard overheats and I've got no way of cooling it down. Where I was able to play Eve Online for hours at a time before Incarna, I'm now only able to play for about 10 minutes on dual screens. Ofc I'll try to play on one screen the last few days of my subscription, but I'm running lvl 4's in high security systems with a pummeler and a salvager, so it doesn't make any sense to scale down, if that's possible xD
So adieu! o/ (Until I get a new computer - and the next one is going to be watercooled , so that'll take a while :D!)
