You support purchasing ammo, ships and faction standings instantly with real money?

Call me hopeful, but I'm still waiting on a CCP response to this. I do firmly believe in innocent until proven guilty. Eve has some smart players and I wouldn't put it past some of them to come up with this entire thing. I would like to hear CCP's side of the story, regardless of the players who seem to have their minds made up.
I do like soundwave though, he's one of the only CCP guys who's real face I recognize (from fanfest videos, alliance tournaments, etc). If these are his words then I'll feel pretty let down, to know players didn't like something and to push it on them anyway?... but that's an assumption, I'm sure he'll have to respond to all of this, I'll be waiting for that.

Originally by: Jada Maroo CCP Soundwave seems like a cool guy whenever we see him, so I don't like to say mean things about him.
But if this is the direction he wants for Eve, then yes, he needs to go. He's just not an influence I want for this game.
I like him from watching the live stream of fanfest and other stuff. I really do. I won't rail him for his opinion, but he can't expect this to have gone any other way if it were to be made public - which happened.
If he won't allow the will of the playerbase to decide it, and he wants to force it on us... then yes, sadly, he needs to go. Which is unfortunate. --

The disturbing part about this is that CCP is literally planning to sell performance-enhancing items, not just vanity items.

Edited by: Vidar Kentoran on 23/06/2011 04:01:11 Edited by: Vidar Kentoran on 23/06/2011 04:00:37 "On the opposite end of the scale to vanity goods are performance based items such as weapons. They are consumed through gameplay, making them a potentially powerful source of renewable income. Selling them for real money is very tempting. They are highly desired by the player audience and yield lower development costs, as variation can be achieved through numbers rather than unique art assets. Selling them though, is highly controversial. We are planning on doing so. I would be tempted to say it is because we are fearless, but the real reason is that we have strong evidence that selling performance enhancers, in moderation, works. Korean developers have capitalized on performance enhancing items for a long time, but it took a leap of faith from the people developing Battlefield: Heroes to show that the same principles that work in Korea apply for the western market as well."

Fired? No. SW seems a decent enough guy and it's only an opinion after all.
On the other hand I think CCP and EvE would benefit if one of its most fervent promoters of micro transactions took a look at the feedback and ultimately changed his position.

CCP Soundwave: "Does this mean IĈm an ignorant capitalist that, unless stopped, will cause the entire loyal fan base to catch fire and then I'll be promoted at sea by a secret team of Sony execs?"
Speaking as an American (we know what Capitalist look like) Yes CCP Soundwave, you are.

I'm still waiting for CCP to realise that Selling LOTS of clothes - for alot cheaper price = more money in the long run for them.
At current - all they're doing is making hteir playerbase very ****ed off because they're coming across (well not coming across in this instant, you're blatantly running around nude with the fact written on you in glowing neon pen) that they're nothing more than a bunch of greedy ****wads that dont give a **** abuot their playerbase and see us only as walking wads of cash that they need to find ways to get us to surrender it to them.
Again - CCPTards. Drop the prices drematicly on Clothes - and watch yourselves make a ****load of money because people can actualy afford them without thinking wow, do i realy want to spend $36.95 on a piece of vertual clothing when i can turn it into 2 mths of game time? Or isk to benefit myself in game? Hell buying a real life ****ing shirt from the store costs less.

Look at this way.
CCP has fully committed to MTs. They are coming, it will be as bad as you can imagine and most importantly, they don't give a **** what anybody says. They have fully convinced themselves that its required to "not becoming a dinosaur". What Soundwave said is just a reflection on how's it going to be from now on, for all CCP games.
The here and now is that he is leading the ONLY team giving you spaceship content (Team BFF did incursions, PI and NPC AI work for a possibile future gameplay mechanic), and is arguable a member of a very, very very small section within the company still working exclusive to EVE. ...Then when you stopped to think about it. All you really said was Lalala. |

You know, while I normally enjoy threads filled with threats of violence against real life people over internet spaceship monocles...haha no wait I don't actually, you guys are awful and I am deeply ashamed that I have to post here
First, soundwave is pretty much the lead developer on flying in space features at the moment, and he and his team have done hard work improving the quality of life within eve in the last few months. They are now supposedly working on iterations for POSs, nullsec warfare and ship balance for the winter expansion. So, yeah, boo, fire that guy, fixing those things that people want fixed, what an ass he must be
Second, he put a lot of effort into hosting AT9 and doing who knows what else behind the scenes, and he deserves a good bit of respect for that too
Third, while his actual opinion expressed in the article is indeed very wrong, he strikes me as an entirely reasonable fellow that you could perhaps convince of the correctness of your position, if only you weren't attempting to burn him in effigy over the internet for having an opinion contrary to your own
tldr: the lot of you need to stop posting and go relax or something _____________________ Look down. Back up. Where are you? You're on a forum, with the alt your alt could post like. |
