Would like to thank CCP for this, after they made the salvager a type of tractor beam, the tractor range bonus carries over to the salvagers
Ninja salvagers should be happy too :P

Yes indeed, this was a defect which was created with the release of Incarna. It has been fixed and will go out in the next patch.

My guess is that they looked at the new icons for tractor and salvager and couldn't figure out which was what, which ended up in giving both the same functional range...

I'd leave it as it is because as it stands this is the only change Incarna brought to the table that alot of PPL like!

I support this. I dont salvage but I KNOW how boring it is to fly left and right just to loot/salvage ISK.
How about a compromise? Include a skill that does remotely the same, so ppl can be better at salvaging if they want... I dont think that would be gamebreaking.
Oh well, I know it was just to troll CCP to let them know they messed up a "little". /being polite

Well makes sense. CCP finding ways to make everyone cry.
I was happy to see my Vargur and Noc act a little better, now they gonna take that away.
First make us think it is hard to give the feature in code... Then tell us opps and we wrote new code to take it away..
I don't even walk off the gantry when I dock in station anymore since there is no point but look at same room.

Enough wrecks need to be pulled within 2500m for looting that this is hardly worth complaining about.
The idea of a salvager range skill on the other hand sounds pretty solid. Not everyone cares about it, so not everyone need train it.

It just goes to show that anything you say can and will be used against you.
I would advise people not to be so forthcoming with any tricks they may find any more.

Contrary to the beliefs of the unwashed masses, CCP isn't filled with incompetent morons. This issue was known and verified, then a fix was coded, tested and verified before this thread was started. The process of bug reporting, verifying, coding, code review, QA testing, QA review and deployment just doesn't happen that fast.
Also, remember that most CCP employees also play the game. If one of us found this glitch it's a pretty safe bet that they did as well. |

I would advise against that as any use of bugs or other defects to gain an advantage over others (including ninja-salvagers) is an exploit, any "tricks" you find could well get you banned. --
