Okay having looked over the dev responses in here I have a few questions.
Since you are waiting to make any real response until Friday, can we assume CCP members will remain on duty through the weekend to answer questions, or do you just plan for the fires to keep burning and growing?
CCP Pann for someone that has worked for at least 8 years at CCP, why do you as head of PR only have 30 posts in 8 years? Most of which were posted in 2007. I guess something has lit a fire though because you didn't even post during the t20 scandal.
I'm glad that you admit the leaked internal magazine was real, after all it was hard to deny it wasn't since folks have hard copies. During the AT9 interviews one of the guys even mentioned they were collecting magazines to take with them, CCP Soundwave seemed momentarily a bit distraught over the idea, but apparently no one took enough action to see what magazines were leaving.
I'm not a particular fan of CCP Soundwave and wasn't even before this but at the same time he cannot share the burden. As Lead Designer he pretty much does what he's told. He's told to execute CQ he does it. Etc. I'm sure he has some wiggle room but I don't want to see a repeat of what happened to Jeff Freeman after the NGE for SWG. While certainly Freeman was the architect of the NGE, he was only working under the direction of Smedley and Torres.
That said I have to ask as many have. Why release CQ as it is? There is nothing to hype or market about it. A more finished product would have done better. Releasing it in such a state turns off those prospective customers you hoped to attract. They log on thinking this is it, find you are stuck just seeing yourself in your on quarters, no real interaction with others etc. They log off and never return.
Next is the Noble Exchange. What economist approved this idea? I mean the idea is used in scores of games, ever noticed how they have many items at cheap prices to entice folks to buy. You have the exact opposite, a few high priced items. Sure such as store might work in Hollywood, but on the streets of Atlanta its not going to do well.If this is your lifeline as that internal mag says then it needs some major rethinking if you plan to make money from this.
CQ has a massive memory leak which is contributing to the overheating issues. When will it be fixed? This leak slows down when the station environment is not loaded but does not stop then. Has the devs tested the effects of loading multiple avatars into the same area will have? I have some great doubts about how the system as a whole will handle it given how it handles just the CQ and 1 toon.

Originally by: Sur Jamkar 4 less subscriptions CCP as of today. The ball is in your court to have me re-activate them.
I'm sad that after 5 and a half years of enjoying this game - you've chosen to ignore your player base. To ignore some of your own employees as well I bet.
This stinks horribly of SOE's decision to create the infamous SWG:NGE. It's a pity history isn't learned from more often.
But maybe sometimes lessons are learned better through a little tough love and as a parent - I have to let my toddler learn on her own that she is making a bad mistake by touching a hot surface after I told her not to. So must it be with CCP.
To fix it though: We want Hellmar. We want Soundwave. We want video. We want sincerity and serious promises to undo all of this and not return back to it. But I warn you - even after that... no promises you'll see many return.
And where the **** is the CSM??!? Where is our elected council??? I bet CSM5 knew about this but couldn't speak more than they did because of the NDA you hit em with.
This was very poorly played CCP.
The CSM like SOE's Senate for SWG is a joke. It was never meant to be a functioning entity. It was only a firewall between the player base and the devs, nothing more nothing less.
One does have to wonder if with the plethora of NC CSM delegates, that the NC decided to fall so fast and not fight due to what they had seen. Even the Russians were surprised how fast they fell. It raises an interesting question.
CCP is at the moment SOE was in Nov 2005. They still have a choice, but go the wrong way and you lead to ruin and disaster.
The winter expansion had best be the best expansion put out since RMR. I mean ships, mods everything. Or the damage may well be to great for EVE to survive.

You think they spent years on CQ...oh Lord what a maroon. At best this was 6 months of coding.
Given performance so far I doubt their engine can handle interaction between players with their avatars. The system is far to taxing. Remember your just loading your own quarters and your own avatar now and even good machines are risking overheating. Add more polygons to the equation and you'll melt some.

Guess what sherlock they did spent years in this manure , we know it because it was at the fanfest and was promised years ago.
Now go back to your cave troll.
They made a demo a few years ago to hush up the vaporware but nothing that was in that demo survived, it was a fresh build. Go and look at the two side by side....

I was more thinking along the lines of:
EVE 2.0: The Search For More Money
So they're doing a sequel eh?
It's from Spaceballs.
Spaceballs 2 in the original parody was named Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money.
Spaceballs 3 was going to be named The Search for Spaceballs 2.
Ultimately neither sequel was made.

Originally by: Amber Villaneous I bet the DRF is ****ed! They spent Trillions of ISK taking the north so the Tech moons could supply their RMT business. Now, with every sub cancelled they are losing a potential customer. On top of that every RL $ that goes into MT is a potential RL $ that could be going thru their RMT shops.
CCP, be careful accepting any packages with Russian postmarks!
I wish folks would stop this.
There was no more RMTing in the DRF than there was in the former NC.

End of the work day they will post the FRIDAY BAD NEWS, then run to the PUB.. come back Monday, and pray we have accepted it.
You're probably right. Bad move if they do that, brush fires cover thousands of miles in days....

While i see the reason why... I strongly suggest not just to you but everyone to lighten up a bit. The spiral of hatred is vicious as we saw in this thread.
CCP's silence is what's fueling the fire.
I mean how hard is it to say I'm sorry, this is what our idea was, etc?
They so far are handling it like they have most everything. Post a thread, make a few replies for about 12 hours. Never visit the thread again. Hope the fire burns out. It's worked in the past for many minor issues but this time I don't think it's going to work.
They are no doubt waiting to put out a release at the last possible moment before they all go home, which will no doubt fuel the fire even more since it means no real debate or parley it is just a statement and then a stonewall.
I mean it would go a long way if CCP Soundwave just appeared said, Hey guys I'm sorry for the tone I took that was offensive in the leaked magazine. It was never intended to be released to the public and as such I used what was unprofessional language. The intent was to raise debate. As a result of that debate you'll get further information from other blogs shortly.
Something like that would go a long way to helping, yes he'll be flamed, but also when you sincerely ask for forgiveness people generally give it.

Thanks.
And CCP needs to respond NOW.
This will help you.
It is one of those nice 3rd party sites they launched the API blog attacks against in the previous weeks.

Originally by: visableone im upset that there was'nt one person in the whole of ccp who stood up and said
'NO, are you mad? you can't do this to my game, i love to play it and this would totally spoil it, we can't monetize third party apps now after all the community has done, we can't add MT for items in a new release of eve after they already pay a sub which allowed us to design and develop the expansion to begin with, and we certainly can't destory our player run market by adding in MT items that our players can not build for themselves'
was there no one in ccp that was opposed to this?
i cast a vote of no confidence with ccp
my real worry now is that years of delvelopment and money have been push into this,. and even if ccp were to turn around and address these issues, eve is in for some hard times over the comming year or so, to which i hope it recovers, but hope is all i have.
There probably were, they don't work there anymore....

So I like went to the store, by my estimation now it is 6 pm in Iceland, so where is our response? Where is our promised response?
Did it fall between the We'll fix the mines and We'll fix faction warfare?

Originally by: The Mittani I'm late to the threadnaught because I was out drinking last night and then sleeping it off. Whoops.
Points:
*Making martyrs out of Helicity and Liang is an act of comic incompetence, mid-PR-disaster.
*Greed is Good is a typical example of CCP's absolutely awful messaging. The contents itself are fairly innocuous; the one guy mentioning selling ammo is just some mook, not a producer of consequence. All the same, they might as well have had an internal newsletter called "I WANT TO **** MY CUSTOMERS" as far as the messaging impact is concerned.
The timing of GiG leaking with the NeX opening is masterful on the part of the leakers and awful for CCP.
*I don't care about NeX prices. They can charge hundreds of dollars for sparkleponies and monocles and I don't give a rat's ass - I'm here for the spaceships.
My concerns are keeping microtransactions away from the combat gameplay and fighting for balance and an improved spaceship-on-spaceship experience. Lag, supercapital imbalance, iterative ship balance, all of these things matter far more to me than a store with clothes for a space barbie.
Good words, but when did they last work on the stuff most important to you and most of us?

I wonder if Pann is an alt.
First day at CCPUnknown Title/DepartmentNo Title/Department Found MottoNo Motto Found BioNo Bio Found
Nada. Her profile linked here.
I also enjoy scamming with alts.
I'm not quitting EvE yet. So there.
His name was John Turbefield!
Her name is Valerie. She's worked at CCP, well, since ever.
For the 30% of you who date back long enough to remember CCP Wrangler? She did that job before they hired him.
She's now been thrown out to the wolves here and I don't find that acceptable either.
I've canceled my three accounts. I will be keeping an eye on this situation. If this Walking in Stations is forced upon like I demanded it not be fore THREE YEARS, if this MT bull**** creeps it's way into core gameplay, CCP can lick my ****.
She's been with them before launch and yes I remember CCP Wrangler.
If you go to eve-search you can see her 30 odd posts going back 8 years.
My guess she's the last of the original crew that still works in any capacity of EVE, they trotted her out hoping someone that old might calm the masses. Didn't work.
It is a shame though, almost reminds you of Tiggs at SWG, but Tiggs was actively supporting the players too something we've not really seen Pann do.
