I believe the views he expresses in the newsletter to be completely wrong, but I think if we give him and the other CCP guys a chance to see the player's perspective without personal attacks that drive them away from the discussion, they will come around to our side. Worst comes to worst we can just all unsub and the company will go bankrupt, but hopefully we can reach a compromise before that stage.
If Soundwave and the rest of CCP had talked to players like the CSM (or, you know, the guys under NDA who were hanging out with them all last week) about this they would have understood our concerns earlier. At this point we need more contact between devs and players, not less.
Well said.
Agree.
CCP aren't allowed to communicate ideas in-house anymore? Not even allowed to 'imagine' perhaps. Jesus, you people...!

Are you moving beyond VANITY AUR items?
If they did, how would it be any different from current system: - Buy plex with real money - Buy ready made character with purchased plex proceeds - Buy awesome ship
?
I must be missing something.
I guess if they made the unique items only available to AURA customers...?

Because buying ships with PLEX > ISK means that that ship was made at some point by a player, from within the sandbox. Buying ships directly means that poof, it appears out of nowhere.
And how do we know at this point that ships won't be unique to NeX? These issues need to be addressed.
And if they linked the AUR items into the player economy so players could earn real money from Eve - good or bad? Good I would think. CCP could take their cut.

Effort of players went into making that awesome ship and character, thus there is a limit to supply.
AURA items come from nowhere, CCP makes them at will.
I don't think they can just 'insert from nowhere' items into the market without causing havoc - it would be dangerous.
How about this:
CCP, link the AURA market to the player economy so players can earn real money from Eve, then just take a cut of the profits.

Works in theory, not in practice. Credit card fraud makes it next to impossible. Fraud payments, launder to legit account, turn into clean money.
I'm pretty sure there are other games where real money can be earned from in game play - no talk of money laundering in those games.

Does CCP plan to offer faster character progression through micropayments? This is the big question on everyone's mind. How will this "greed" affect gameplay? I'm not opposed to something similar to the officers edition of EVE, whereas you get a super-implant, but players probably won't react kindly to money-for-sp. Micropayment funded stat reallocation, on the other hand, would likely be accepted.
You can already buy plex with real money, then buy a ready made character (skills) from the character bazaar.
I really don't see how CCP can justify removing the character market by introducing AURA skills that don't go through the players (character bazaar), then doing the same with market items - they would effectively kill the Eve market which kills the game off.
Would be nice if they would confirm they're not considering committing suicide, but I find it against all logic that they would.

Master-tip: There will always be something to fix - halting future expansions until the current game is perfect reduces the games progression to a snails pace. I have never played a game or used any software after release or update that wasn't broken in some way or another - facts of life.

Words wont cut it this time. In my case, you, CCP, have three weeks to show changes! Actual and factual changes! Or its one less account being renewed.
The problems:
1. Truth (or lack there-of) 2. Actually listening to the players. - no more "we have the csm for that" BS!! NDAs ? that shows your true colors. 3. Stop with expansions and fix the bugs.
One action is worth a thousand words!
Get over yourself.
