I trust that there will be a solution, though at this point it's more like hope. It looks like, whatever happens, we are headed for "interesting times".
Oh, and please unban Helicity Boson, that really isn't helping your case whether or not you feel you have the right to.

Originally by: Sister Bliss Firstly, stop thinking this is a small issue associated with Aurum, MT, Captains Quarters and such. While each of those topics is indeed an issue to be debated in their own right, the broader issue is much larger and dwarfs these entirely.
As a long term paying customer, I have seen virtually no progress towards addressing key broken mechanics and unfinshed expansions over the past 2 years! Instead we continue to pay for low value, peripheral expansions that do nothing significant to enhance the game, and only adds more clutter and unfinished content.
All of these concerns were raised by the playerbase in the 18 months thread fiasco if not before then in many cases. Recently you've announced you are just starting to look at 0.0 and other gameplay aspects. So if we look at this as an example, and with your delivery record, I would be surprised to see any meaningful expansion to Eve within the next 1.5 years that goes anywhere near addressing player expectations.
In total, this represents an almost 4 year gap between you listening to and responding to your customers comments and feedback. 4 YEARS!
FOUR YEARS!
It's clear that your focus is on bringing in new players, but without fixing the core mechanics which keeps players here long term, you're just treading water. The vision and creativity which we saw and belived in years ago has long since faded and died. Today even the smallest of fixes is met with cheer given how low everyones expecations have settled (this alone should make you very concerned).
As an example, you could fix the Technetium issue over a single weekend if you actually got off your ass instead of ****ing about discussing how to finance other titles and spending years working on this Incarna disgrace. Get your ****ing priorities straight.
Good post. -

People have already said time and time again what is wrong. One thing I will add is the CSM should be desolved. I'm not hating not the members of the CSM, past or present. What is the point of having it at all. They told you what would happen if you went through with these changes, you didn't listen.

Perhaps CCP are confused? Since aquiring WW, it would seem that they have forgotten they are a development company, not a publisher. Perhaps seeing EA's crack vault made them envious? Maybe you have become/want to become a publisher like EA.
One glaring issue there though, EA has swallowed so many developers, owns so many IPs that people mindlessly rebuy with a higher number each year, that they can literally print their own money, you CCP, can not.
Never bite the hand that feeds you. See us here? All these people Angry/Sad/Happy/Indifferent? We are that hand, and rather foolishly you are trying to draw our left as well as our right to chew the fingers off of both.
Management should ask, what will Dust be without Eve? What will make it unique, or worth buying (already lost half your market with the PS3 exclusive) over the next CoD brainwash? Nothing. We may be your "Golden Goose" as some careless employee put it, but this goose is already losing its feathers.
You dont really have many options here.
1 - Return to roots, make Eve great, focus. 2 - Continue as you are, risk it all. 3 - Seek outside investment, or a publisher for other projects.
The day that you as a company CCP, forget that you need us, more than we need you or Eve, is the day you no longer exist as one, and all your dreams of fancy new projects will vanish along with it.
I know in the grand scheme of things, I am but a single customer, as are others who have stated their intention to unsub, or those who have done already, as and such at the end of the day I, and they, are little more than statistics to the suits that now seem to call the shots. One person though is all it takes to change the world. History is full of such individuals. I make no claim to be one of them, or capable of such action.
However, in this age of the internet, the most powerful tool for communication thus far in human history, word of mouth can do more good, or more harm that at any other point in time, more than any advertising or publicity drive can accomplish.
Much larger companies than CCP have fallen for the mistake of viewing the customer as little more than a cash cow, you cant milk the cow if you arent providing the grass it needs, and I personally would hate to see CCP end this way.
TL;DR - Ramble and +1 for sort your **** out CCP and fast.
Seriously. Reverse this bullsh*t and focus on the only thing you ever had going for you: A game about spaceships in space. You guys have no idea the damage you've just caused. I truly believe a CCP blog needs to be posted that says "We're seriously sorry, from here on out we're going to do our best to make the best spaceship game possible, and not pull bullsh*t like this ever again. MT's will extend as far as cutesy paint jobs or avatar stuff and it will be priced reasonably. We will bring back features that attracted players to this game years ago, instead of spewing out incomplete hunks of sh*t with the hope of cashing in."
For the life of me I cannot understand how this was not your objective in the first place.

I've been playing EvE on a single account since 2008.
I don't give a **** about vanity items or whatever. what I am concerned about is RMT for advantage in the game and this is exactly the view expressed in the leaked newsletter. As it stands I'm unsubbing and my game time runs out in about 2 weeks. Imma keep playing until then and perhaps CCP can do something to restore my faith in them, otherwise i wont be re-subbing.
I fully understand that my sub is a drop in the ocean but EvE seems to be going in a direction that i can't enjoy.

I say, truely make the CSM the voice of the community tehy are suposed to represent and stop having them be barricaded in their movement to do their jobs.
We try and communicate with the players as much as possible. Sure, there are some things that are NDA, and (alas) there are things like the virtual goods pricing strategy (or, for that manner, <insert recent CCP screwup here>) where CSM was simply not consulted. But outside of those limitations, we do the best we can.
Similarly, we convey both our personal opinions and player opinions to people in CCP. Some are receptive to the outside perspective, some are not.
As for what you should do to best express your opinion of recent events in New Eden, all I can tell you is that CCP pays more attention to what you do than what you say.
I seem to remember one of the CSM ragequitting over MT. How much was he bought back for, and will monocle sales cover that?

I'll have to admit that I'm a huge fan of EVE, but this last update has me seriously worried about the direction of EVE and CCP. My concerns are outlined in this wall-o-text.
1) CQ: Why would a dude wired into a pod for a few months go through the trouble of unplugging from his goo-hole, being weak and needy for a few moments in full-view of an entire station hangar just for a simple cargo transfer that takes ten seconds? It's immersion breaking and you're going back on your word when you stated that CQ would be completely optional. I do not take kindly to being lied to. I doubt anyone does.
2) CCP's internal newsletter: At first, we're presented with a discussion about if MT is good or not. Then we're treated to this little gem: "So, as a player, while you are inside a station, you will find gameplay that links other aspects of the game and that also presents you with virtual purchasing opportunities." Why debate over something you have already decided on?
3) Virtual goods prices: $60 for a monocle. Please tell me how this made it to release and why the people in Marketing, QA and Game Design didn't filter this out by thinking "this price is a little high." This is a truly monumental mistake on an extremely basic level, and if I tried grossly overcharging something like this where I work, my customers and my boss would have a very long chat with me about the validity of what I was doing. Probably a very profane chat that ended in my termination.
4) Trust. CCP has stated that trust is important. I see no evidence of this, and even the gaming press has stated that devotees are being fleeced. CCP and the CSM always want greater transparency, and while an internal newsletter is a CCP-only affair, the planned content changes therein are still something that we should be privy to if if affects the product we pay for.
5) Finance. The recent 99$ license fee, vast MT prices and the fact that CCP is developing three games from the profits of one has me worried that CCP won't be around for much longer. Please tell me that your coffers are healthy enough.
6) Make-up: I feel betrayed. Betrayal is a simple word, but recall that betrayal is a pretty serious offence in the real world (usually paid for by imprisonment or capital punishment), and it is not one that I apply lightly. How will you make amends to the consumer base? (Personally, I could easily see the irony and funny side of a free monocle for each account but a lot of others won't.)
7) Asking us to lower our collective pitchforks: I'm glad that the head honcho of PR is on the ball, but please realise that we have very good reason for our outrage. Please think of this from our perspective. If you discovered that a product you were paying for was being changed against your wishes despite previous statements to the contrary, would you continue to use it? Could you trust a company that did this?
8) Deliver: CCP's Mantra this year is Deliver. But what are you delivering? So far we only have one room with the grand vision of WiS. If you need more subs, then shouting "Hey guys! We have a space MMO and you get to walk around in a room with the same functionality as a bar on the left of the screen, too!" wouldn't entice me. Releasing unfinished content is unprofessional at best.
9) Apologies and Accountability: An apology is certainly forthcoming, but apologies mean that someone has to be held accountable for these issues. Is the entire company at fault, or is there one person or team accountable? Ultimately, is the executive producer of EVE to be held accountable?

This has always been CCP's modus operendi. Did T20 get fired? NO, K got banned. Will Soundwave be fired? NO, the person who let us know what CCP was doing behind our backs gets banned.
You know, with Hulkageddon, Helicity has done more to bring content to EVE than THE LAST TWO YEARS WORTH OF EXPANSIONS! You should be ashamed, CCP. But you aren't, you're greed is showing.
