You have just no credibility whatsoever do you, with the emberassing fanboyism while your peer CSM members are trying to work their asses off to make it possible to build a bridge.
You're either still coping with the booze, or you're just playing the usual "I don't care as long as my dev buddy says it's cool".
Words, words, words. Just like CCP, it is beyond that stage. Go inform yourself, do the homework. Talk with your peer CSM members. Then come back.

I was debating with myself whether to let my accounts drop and this has been a watershed moment.
I have real life flesh and blood people all over the world who know me as Ocho, they are my friends so it's weird to be letting go of three accounts. I won't kid you and say that I have done this because of this thread solely but it's tipped the balance. I could sell a tengu and plex my accounts and I'm hoping that I'll be back at some point.
I love eve, it's my hobby, it's the reason I bought an M11X. I live in Romania and don't get out much as I'm a Brit. Eve has been a lifeline back home and given me something to look forward to. I want to come back but as of the 7th Ocho is going into stasis 32 mil sp. on the 9th of next month seop follows 35 mil SP. What really makes me happy is that I'll be able to play on my third account until september when it too will lock up.
I really hope that CCP starts listening because we wait for fixes to things for way too long and it appears that the focus is on short term Operating Profit rather than preservation of the player base. I'm not mad about monocles, I would never buy one. I'm not mad about AUR because we'd be able to gank the noobs that use it easily enough, the skill factor is still there (not that I possess any!). What worries me is that I have poured money and time into these characters and they are going into a future where the developers don't listen and respond to our needs.
I understand that you want to bring in Monocles, Great! I'll hunt anyone wearing one. What I can't understand is a company that leaves it's entire customer base sitting for so long with no information.
If I can justify the 300 Euros I'll bring back my characters. I'm one in fifty thousand I know. Please pull up, please save my game.

CCP could not come out with:
"We promise that there will never, ever, be MT for game affecting items. A more comprehensive statement will follow"
What does this mean?

Yes it is, it still has the average amount of around 43,000 players, so this isn't having much effect.
Mostly in Jita it looks like.

Points:
*Making martyrs out of Helicity and Liang is an act of comic incompetence, mid-PR-disaster.
*Greed is Good is a typical example of CCP's absolutely awful messaging. The contents itself are fairly innocuous; the one guy mentioning selling ammo is just some mook, not a producer of consequence. All the same, they might as well have had an internal newsletter called "I WANT TO **** MY CUSTOMERS" as far as the messaging impact is concerned.
The timing of GiG leaking with the NeX opening is masterful on the part of the leakers and awful for CCP.
*I don't care about NeX prices. They can charge hundreds of dollars for sparkleponies and monocles and I don't give a rat's ass - I'm here for the spaceships.
My concerns are keeping microtransactions away from the combat gameplay and fighting for balance and an improved spaceship-on-spaceship experience. Lag, supercapital imbalance, iterative ship balance, all of these things matter far more to me than a store with clothes for a space barbie.
sparkleponies may just solve this whole thing

Originally by: London This might sound kind of silly, but maybe they are paving the way for a F2P Eve Online given the insane popularity of F2P games lately. I realize that you cannot sustain such an endeavor on a mere 8 items in the money store, but foreseeably for the future they would have ships/ammo/gear or premium level training much like World of Tanks.
Now I know this isn't what Eve's model is about, but hey... just my guess that they want to keep their options open given how rapidly the industry is changing.
I think that is EXACTLY what they're doing, and they want their subscribers to pay for the transition.

The prices on the NEX is what worries me. It gives the strong impression that the people making decisions have a disconnect with reality. I don't see anything I would pay money for, maybe there would be some kind of vanity item at some price point that I would think "meh, why not" at some point, but there is a complete disconnect with reality when CCP makes a pixel shirt that costs more than a RL shirt.
I just can't bring myself to give a crap about vanity items. People pay almost a thousand bucks to get a special tiger mount in WoW. I care about spaceships, since this is a spaceship game, not a dress-up game. They could literally charge 5000 bucks for a monocle and I wouldn't lift a finger to stop them. vOv
For me, the long knives come out if they start trying to mess with the gameplay itself with micros. Gold ammo, ships that are different from existing ships statswise, etc.

The official decision to...
a. ****-over everyone who is against non-vanity mt b. scrap the over-arching plans of that newsletter
is being delayed?
Someone tell me how this is a hard question to answer? Are they googling the word vanity in the hopes a perfect definition exists in some obscure codex?

Sup, Mittens. That mook, Soundwave as well as the other opposing view, Diagoras, were obviously just used as faces by marketing to make what was already an executive decision look like a discussion for the more challenged within CCP. The MT, pay to win, decision was obviously made, long ago. If not they would have said so in one of the devbogrolls this morning at the latest, not when the sh!tstorm was hitting close to 200 posts.
They're not going back on that, obviously, and have mostly been dithering amongst themselves on how to say that to the customers in a way hat won't make this worse. That is probably nigh on impossible right now. --------------------- Countdown to sub running out: 9 days. |

Its especially nice when you see things like "saved fittings" moved server side so they can charge us for it. Standings made invisible so no one knows if you bought them, a system for distributing skillpoints added.
So, basically once all this is implemented, some day 1 noob with a bank account can come in to eve and be sitting in a machariel with maxed skills behind it, where as the poorer subscriber that I am, has had to bust a** in this game since early 2009 to get what I have in game?
Someone explain to me how that's fair...

Going to take a different tact for a moment.
As a software engineer with a talent for architechure and planning I actually think CCPs plan was pure genius and have done for some time.
* Paying for WoD while passing it off as WiS (Incarna, notice the working title similarity, puntastic). Genius.
* Developing a quick and easy console shooter clone for cheap, to bolster coffers and get past the hard times. Not bad. If it is just a quick clone and if you talk to the distributors *FIRST*
At the same time, stupid and crazy groupthink, from an isolated bunch of idiots who think too much of themselves.
I never really understood the "hints" of MT/P2W/F2P leaks and things that would come along from time-to-time. From a coders angle it never did make sense.
edit: oh and of course "corification" comes into the WoD/WiS thing where it's all just the same code over and over. Which means whenever they patch something in WoD they can say "We fixed a major Eve bug!".
edit edit: I just never thought it would work :-D

I am writing this on my main character as i want people to know who has this opinion.
Very quickly scanned a few posts here, and a big grief people have is load on your computer, which im assuming means your all running 386's back from the feking 1990's.... BUY A NEW COMPUTER if your a gamer, and dont ask a buisness who is joining the 20th century with graphics to stay in the dark ages jsut because your a cheap ass! If the game didnt upgrade and start looking better as other games progress they would slowly loose custom and the game would die, you'd jsut have the few cheapasses left who cannot stay up to date with new games!
The price of aurum is high... is someone holding a gun to your head forcing you to buy it?! I mean cmon its decorative. GROW UP PEOPLE!
The grief about the captains quaters.... WTF is wrong with it? Its a STEP towards walking in stations. Would you enter a marathon before you could walk?!
Use common sense people

Isn't that sort of the problem? You'd pay AUR for developer time, and once CCP figures that out they'd just sell you everything in the future via AUR.
Sure you'd get buggy updates that need constant patching, but the really cool and shiny stuff would be deferred until after CCP finishes Dust and WoD and only then would your RL currency be pushed towards fixing the issues in Eve.
