1. proposed "features" != implemented features 2. never ever allow people to buy skillpoints - that would undermine the trust in the skillpoint system that you have used forever... 3. Aurum actually makes sense for non-spacefaring stuff. It does not make sense however for items, ships or skillpoints. It's just beyond stupid ... who the hell is getting greedy at ccp? I mean, it's making you money - why ever would you want to suck it dry? Remember 2008? Remember the reply? Eyjafjallajwkull ... .

Latest numbers:
3091 accounts unsubscribed, at $15 this means CCP has now lost close to $556,000 revenue annually.
Note that I didn't do the math in euro's. This number could come out a lot higher, but I err on the side of caution.

Oh right, something to do with PR... good PR management going on right now.
You go CCP! You know how to stop bleeding subscriptions. Because, waiting it out ALWAYS works. Right?
It doesn't make you seem more inept and incapable.
Every ~6000 subscriptions lost is a million / year gone. Every million / year gone is a dent in the funding of the next game. I wonder which game will take the hit first: EVE, the Vampire one, or Dust?

Things That Caused Me to Break Out the Eludium Pu 32 Explosive Space Modulator: NeX... Based on the item prices translated into ISK, you're kidding, right? Never gonna use it. CQ... Can't use it. I saw flames shooting out of my compy & had to stick it in the freezer to cool it down. The Newsletter... I call shenanigans. CSM is going to be very angry at you. Very angry indeed. FailPatch issued for Macs...Did anyone at CCP actually test it on a Mac before international release? I think not. Issues/bugs/problems declared on test server forums ignored and allowed to remain in the public release. Declared issues/bugs/problems that have remained unfixed for at least 5 updates. (Jukebox for example)
These last 2 Things bring up another: You're not listening to us. We're trying to help you make this game the best it can be, and all we get is "That is a known issue and we hope to resolve it Soon(tm)" Does it really take 2 or more years to fix an issue? If so, why?
I'd much rather have a nice, polished update every year (or even 18 months) that includes fixing as many outstanding problems as possible than have damaged goods tossed at me every 6 months. Slow your expansion cycle down, make a better game. We'll stick around for that. |

Originally by: Azure Moonlight Three things need to change:
1. Better performance for walking in stations
2. More reasonable prices for NEX items + more items to choose from
3. A very VERY clear and unchanging promise that you will NEVER be able to get more than cosmetic stuff from the store.
Here's the problem CCP is going to have, and why EvE is probably over...
A. Even if they promise to not evolve Nex into pay to win items, there is no reason for the Players to believe them at this point. You'd have to be a fool to trust any CCP promise now when they're clearly positioning themselves to 'evolve' into breaking said promise which, by the way, had already been made. Nothing short of the complete removal of Aurum and Nex from EvE is sufficient at this point.
B. ...and they won't do that. CCP has obviously invested in Nex, and clearly has financial troubles due to over extending themselves on non-EvE projects (Dust and WoD). They *need* MT to stay afloat at this point. Further, when they lose thousands of subscriptions from this, as they certainly will, the need will become that much greater. Expect more far-reaching 'for Aurum' services as they squeeze EvE for all it's worth until Dust. Dust is then their short term bridge to WoD. They're banking WoD will be their future.
C. The most hilarious part about this? They could probably have said they needed more money, promised to focus on iterating the space game for the next ~18 months~ and gotten away with adding 5$ to the monthly subscription cost with far less rage, far fewer cancelled accounts and probably fewer employees fired. CCP management was simply too greedy, too secretive and far, far too confident in their own vision despite player opinion.

Greed is Good is the catch phrase of Gordon Gekko (or rather the person he is based on) in Wall Street. That person personified greedy business practices and ripping off the customer, and ended up spending the rest of his life in prison for it.
People were asked to portray these points of view in that newsletter to air those very issues.
In essence, the damn thing is a corporate morality play, which puts things in a completely different context than it was originally presented to the EVE community via the "leak".
If you don't agree with that point of view, fine, but at least understand it.
Everybody understands the argument you goddam eejit. I guess you just need an above room temperature IQ to see how vacuous it is. It is clear from the general thrust of the newsletter which side of the argument won, it has been confirmed by the NEX store, re-confirmed by the dev blog, and clinched by the leaked email.
NO BUT YOU GUYS YOU GUYS SERIOUSLY THEY DIDN'T MEAN IT YOU'RE ALL SO STOOPID.
1: It's obvious most posting their opinion DON'T get the reference. 2: With this in mind, what you suggest is NOT the obvious conclusion. 3: I see high prices in the NEX store yes, but I see no non-vanity items there (which is rather the central issue). 4: There was NO confirmation in the DEV blog that non-vanity items would be sold in the future. 5: The only thing the leaked email confirms is that they want to see what people do (not say) before they modify their course of action in pricing.
High prices in the NEX store are not the main issue, far from it.
The issues is simply that people thought the newsletter discussion was a proposal to include non-vanity items in the NEX, which with the information we have now it clearly WASN'T. Because of this they thought CCP lied to them, which they DIDN'T.
I'm not going to bother with this any more.
You'll get confirmation of this all soon enough. And yes, I will be pointing and laughing.
hope you're right. am betting you're not. Would be all too simple for them to come out and say this if it were so. and they didn't. and they won't.

Originally by: Mr Abstoss Still no response from CCP. Seems like they're having a nice weekend out and about. Coolio.
Dudes, I must admit, that I doubt, that we can change or do anything with our opinions on the forums. If CCP actually cared about us, they'd have had responded by now.
I think, the only thing we can do now is taking action. Not in terms of protests in Jita and Amarr, but keep your chars logged off. Do something else, keep peak useres online low.
Agreed, I also think there's a possibility that there are those CCP that actually care about us (the player base and our opinions) and are duking it out with upper management, we need to keep giving them reasons and support that back them up if they are advocating for us, like John Turbefield.

There's no player cap, you just need to spend 500 Aurum to make the jump now.
