ItFs my turn now.
I'm mad with CCP, not only because NEX, the removal of my ship spinning or for burning my new ATI 5800 HD series GPU. ItFs something more, that was growing for 2 years now. Slowly with every release I as accumulating frustration and lowering my expectations and that was making me login less and less. My decision to abandon EVE was the sum of many problems, the last ones added to the pile, were just the trigger that led me to push the unsub button.
I play to be happy, to relief my daily stress, to think in something else other than my RL problems. For 3 years Eve was that game, I invested many hours on it, I invested lots of money on it, but in the last year I wasn't getting nothing in return. The reasons I play this game have disappear. I was only hanging because of the investment I did, I was trying to save it by believing CCP would fix the game soon.
It's last actions prove me otherwise, so my decision was easy.
Looking back, everything started with Dominion. An entire expansion dedicated to 0.0 where only 20% live, bringing almost nothing to the remaining 80%. This expansion didn't fix any Sovereignty because CCP left it half done! It completely unbalance the mother ships, leading to the super blobs we see today. Finally it bring the LAG, something is still didn't fix completely today. The only thing that save that expansion from a complete flop was the new In-Game Browser and Mail, the Planets makeover, some new factions ships and the new Fleet tool.
Then it gave us Tyrannis. A big piece of nothing: PI and Eve Gate. 95% of Eve don't care about PI, 90% don't care about the Eve Gate! The only think good in that expansion was the New scorpion skin!!!
The we had Incursion. A disaster expansion, with many delays and a unique feature, new Sancha PVE dungeons. Taking in account that in 0.0 nobody does then, low sec ones are made by 30 goons and high sec ones have like 300 guys doing them around the clock -> FLOP, with no value to 99% of the players! Also with this expansion CCP did something never seen before in the world of gamming, they tsoldv fixes has release features! They fixed LAG -> hey feature! They Fixed PI -> hey feature! Fixed bugs or done some minor changes to remove annoying behaviour -> Feature! It even sold internal code architectural changes has a game feature! -> itFs a joke right? (1.3 carbon inventory! - 1.6 - Carbon UI). The only thing good out of this was the removal of the learning skills and the Noctis!
Then they nerfed ratting in 0.0 and the JBs, destroying the last 2 things 0.0 had to offer players...
And now Incarna... Everybody already explain to the exhaustion what is wrong with it. NEX is too expensive, the leave ship button is not optional, It burns ATI cards to the ground....etc, etc, etc.
so that is it. my glass is full, I'm out. This is not a goodbye forever. I CCP fixes EVE, one day I might return.
Some tips to CCP:
- FIX 0.0, low sec, supers, galente, t2 ammo - Revive dead ships like the dreads, electronic assault ships, black ops and many others - FIX the skin of all ships like you did with the scorpion - Find a way for small corps and alliances can live and make a difference in 0.0 without being ****d by blobs of suppers and be pets of major alliances - Improve graphics, they are 5 years behind the industry is using today - Improve the interfaces and windows, itFs a game not excel! - Differentiate live in 0.0 from empire, Empire should live from the goods coming out of 0.0 not the other way around
Start by cleaning this todo list and itFs a start...

Smoke and mirrors game she was playing on the plebs on behalf of CCP.
It's a really freaky coincidence at least. Isn't it conveniently odd that the sacrificial lamb happened to be a female with 'family issues', preventing her from continuing the PR dialogue?
You can skip the family tragedy part. That I do feel for.
But that no one was there to take over was very unprofessional.
Stinks of they never planned to care. Then the email broke and it showed that everyone fear was real. They never planned to listen to us anyway. So it was just them trying to fluff the player base with a placebo PR stunt.
You got it nearly right, in my opinion. It's not that they never planned to care - it's that they planned NOT to care. As Hilmer's leaked email says
"Currently we are seeing _very predictable feedback_ on what we are doing."
As for CCP Pann, I am in two mind. (The soft touch) According to CCP Fallout (I think) her daughter was rushed to hospital. As a parent myself, can relate more than I'd like.
HOWEVER (The cynical) The woman is pure PR. And, more damning, is scheduled to give a big trade talk on GDC Europe Talks For Community Management Summit Specifically,
Quote: Valerie Massey, senior director of PR and communication from EVE Online developer CCP, will take a humorous approach to discussing community management in, "Everything I Ever Needed to Know About Online Communities I Learned from Jurassic Park,"
It's her job to plan in advance for threads like this and make sure they go the way the company wants it to.
Note that I personally want to believe the reason for her she stopping posting.
The thing is... Stuff Happens. They plan for stuff hitting the fan. They plan for "what happens if we lose key personnel" Businesses that don't plan for it invariably die young.
So, she starts the thread, has a family emergenvy - AND NOT ONE OF CCP's 500+ PR, Lawyers, Directors, Senior Managers is authorised to take over what they planned for?
As Hilmer goes on to say in his 'leaked' email:
Quote: We went out with a decisive strategy on pricing and we will stay the course and not flip flop around or knee jerk react to the predictable.
RTM doesn't massively upset me, the ****ty, jerky cabin doesn't upset me, but some suit thinking he's smarter than all of us and trying to play me, that just rubs me up the wrong way.
If I was CEO I'd do it like this - in an open email:
"Guy, we are in ****, we can't afford to pay our programmers for WoD and Dust and we want your help. What we'd like to do it introduce RTM! Yes, I know we said we wouldn't and I know it's not just to save EvE, but as a company we NEED to do this to survive. Help us out here. We'll make a sticky on the forums, take your best ideas and put it to the vote. Openly and Honestly.
We'll honour the rule for no game changers, but here's a few ideas: Custom skins for ships Corporate decals for ships and stations Space screens to advertise your corp Custom trails and effects."
OK, the lawyers would word it a lot better so the investors and shareholders don't go ape****, but if they'd done that they'd get respect. The sneeky, nasty, "we know better, tell them nothing" method, that just buggers my blood pressure.

Originally by: CCP Pann Edited by: CCP Pann on 24/06/2011 00:50:29 Hi, everyone
Some of you who have been around for a while may remember me. I was the original community manager for EVE. These days, I oversee the PR and Community teams. While most of what I do happens behind the curtains, I am still aware of whatFs going on front and center. I would be lying if I said that whatFs happening now didnFt make me sad, but IFm not here to ask for your sympathy. To be perfectly honest, IFm here to buy time while we try to sort things out. No sense in lying about it so I'll call a spade a spade.
ItFs clear that many of you are <understatement alert> angry </alert>. ThereFs a lot happening, things are changing quickly and we havenFt been as forthcoming as you were used to in the past. IFm willing to step out front and take a lot of heat for that since I was the one who made the decision to hold off on responding for a while to see if things cooled down once the new wore off. I was wrong to do that and I apologize. We should have said something much sooner. We should have done more to address your concerns and be forthcoming, even if we werenFt going to be able to immediately give you all of the answers you were looking for or the answer your questions in ways that will instantly turn those frowns upside down. To be even more candid, I cannot answer all of your questions, either, but I am working with the people who can to start getting those answers for you. Again, I know weFre doing this past the expiration date of your patience but I hope youFll bear with me. I know that, with very few exceptions, most of you donFt know me from Adam. I havenFt earned your trust or respect; therefore I have no right to ask anything of you { but I am going to try, anyway. Can I please count on at least some of you to help bring the pitchforks and torches down a few notches?
Like I said, I wonFt be able to answer all of your questions tonight, but I promise weFll start getting some info out tomorrow. As I see it, the chief complaint is regarding the high cost of goods in the Noble Market. Second, many people are unhappy about the CaptainFs Quarters. Third, there are some performance issues with Incarna. I would appreciate it if you would confirm my observations or tell me what IFm missing, but I do ask that you do it in a productive way. I will remove posts without prejudice if they are counterproductive to the conversation I hope to have with you.
If youFve read this much, thanks for staying with me. If you have something to say, IFd like very much to hear it.
Humbly yours, John Smeldley (New Game Experience mothafokker)

However with the CSM about to fly out to Iceland I was curious on some hard numbers on how many people actually adopted this feature and if not, why they turned it off.

external (bad press discussion) from here http://games.on.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=187586&p=2466189#p2466189 Please, the issue is not Vanity items - no matter what the price.
Two things erk me about the current situation
1. the prospect of p2w ammo, fittings, ships, maybe if it was just limited run bpc for such items it would be fine. Not items themselves, bypassing the eve economy/industry
2. The link of plex to aurum - in my opinion, this must be severed!
If they turn the Nex into a direct purchase, paypal kind store (for instance) with the vanity and bpc for specialist items, this 'should/could" be ok.
Linking aurum/plex in the long term will inflate the plex prices, extracting isk out of the internal economy and leaving shortages or high prices on remaining plex for those that play to pay versus those that sell plex for isk (no grind time). This in the long run will cause those that play to pay, to either have to make rl subs themselves, or find the grind getting too complex to bother and quit.
edit: or change the aurum exchange from using plex, to using gtc, thus ccp still get their inflated income from vanity, but using gtc - the player has a choice, to redeem the gtc to two plex (as usual) to sell ingame to the play to payers, or he'she can change the gtc into aurum and buy their vantiy stuffz. Once the player has made the rl cash investment and 'bought' their vanity/bpc, they can then choose to apply the items for their own usage or seed them into the internal economy. This point above is probably a better "win/outcome" for us all. CCP get their extra money, the item gains a ingame value, the plex market suffers no inflation/extraction, the isk stays in the game.

Edited by: Smagd on 27/06/2011 12:56:41 Hey Miilla:
I realize you're trying to raise awareness of this thread, but you're kinda overdoing the good. Is it really necessary to post at least 3 contributions each page, and also in yellow?
I'd kinda like for the important messages not to get buried in attention grabber yellow speculation, PC help requests and repeating yourself.
You and that Maximus guy hold over 6% of the contributions to this thread with the combined next three posters not reaching even one of your posts, so if CCP (or we) mentally subtract them that invalidates 25 pages of this thread already.
That said, I don't think your math is entirely as easy as you'd like it to be:
If 10% of an average $300-per-annum MMO quit, that's exactly the same relative financial loss as if 10% of an average $5000-per-annum MMO quit.
You'll have to dig into whether more bitter vets are likely to quit in the $5000-per-annum MMO than the cheaper one.
Also, I'm just white knighting proper math here. I still don't want micro transactions for in game benefits.

Just read the new zulu's dev blog.
So he has confirmed that ccp will never ever sell golden bullets....what about red, yellow, blue and the rest of the other colors painted bullets? What about hello kitty shape bullet with x100 damage multiplier? Your assurance about the golden bullet (because it was mentioned in the fearless greedy document) does not answer the real question "will there be non vanity items in the near future?"
Just a simple question and you still cannot answer after 6 days? You, ccp, already lied to us so you can't lie again. You can't answer the question because you know the real answer will make us angry. Are you hoping that, by avoiding us, we will eventually accept and go back to enjoying the gam?
My money on ccp already have SP items, ships, modules, and other stats changing items ready to go on the NEX store. I really hate liars and greedy people.

Well this thread and along with it the uproar is declining , but hey you know what that just means people have already moved onto another game and have given up waiting for CCP to spout more BS that will only **** off the community more
Been on this game for a few years now and was more then willing to go many more but every update every step has brought something even more distasteful to the game i once loved , were have the people gone that once made this game great?
It now falls to the few left to keep this thread alive and save EVE its become nothing more then another cash sink for big companies to screw US over, thats right even you! So whilst a good 80% of people wont read this there arnt any solutions to be found in this post , no hard truths to be learnt just some plane simple disappointing words that have led me to leave this game.
In hope however that it does one day return to its former glory and become a world leader in gaming once again.
A little paraphrasing from Godfather 2 : " You broke my heart CCP "
Take care all its been a blast !
