All i have to say is what the hell?
I am a 7 year player of eve and I have alwase defended CCP to newer players saying "CCP is more geard twords pleaseing the players not your pockets" and now you guys pull this Bull.
Was I wrong or do I need to quit eve Before the worst part comes?
I am not rich at all infact I am indeed dirt poor hence why I play eve and if you guys keep going down this path you lose alot of vet players like me that stuck with eve through the good times and the bad.

We live in interesting times; in fact the EVE players are the kind of base that if CCP tries to implement a misdirected play-to-win scheme, they instinctively crank up their voice notch or ten. That, they certainly have done this week. First off we have Incarna, an amazing patch that was untested technological and left many users with over-headed computers and graphics cards while at the same time needlessly encumbering the docking and fitting process. A vision from years ago went unrealized and no one could have imaged how hard Incarna failed; we still dream however. The rollout went with some negative feedback; in some cases negative feedback came faster than what had before, this is the pinnacle of professional achievement for failing to provide quality testing. For all the noise in the channel we should all stand heads lowered, years from now this is what people will remember.
But we have done more, not only have we redefined the production quality lapses one can apply to virtual worlds with the cumbersome and bugged Incarna but we have also defined what it really means to mistakenly believe in your own corporate spin as true and force a new money grab scheme via a new virtual goods currency, Aurum.
Naturally, we have caught the attention of the world, but not in the way expected or envisioned by our PR manager. Only a few weeks ago we revealed more information about DUST 514 and now we have done it again by committing to redefining how EVE has operated for the last eight years, regardless of assumptions made to the contrary. After 40 hours we have already sold 52 monocles, generating more revenue than any of the other items in the store which we will use to fly in the CSM to Iceland on an emergency basis to help us figure out how to make 4,000+ canceled subscriptions return.
This we have done after months of research by a group of highly incompetent and self-delusional professionals, soliciting input and perspective from Zulu (almost exclusively) and experts in our coffee lounge. We have communicated our intention here internally in very wide circles through the Virtual Economy Summit presentation at the GSM, our Fearless newsletter, sprint reviews, email lists and multiple other channels which some spiteful employee leaked to the EVE community. This should not come as a surprise to anyone that EVE players shut down the trade hubs, they were not to be informed prior to patching in the new gold-ammo.
Currently we are seeing ôvery predictable feedbackö on what we are doing but not on the predicted scale. Having the perspective of having done this for a decade, I can tell you that this is one of the moments where we look at what our players do and less of what they say. Unfortunately, so far what they say and what they do has been the same thing, leading to our current predicament. Innovation takes courage to be upfront with your users and when we lay the ground work to implement what the players do not want and what we have said we would not implement, the predictable reaction is always to resist change.
We went out with a decisive strategy on pricing and we will stay the course and not flip flop around or knee jerk react to the predictable because we need that new income to pay for the CSM flights and our two other games in development. That is not saying nothing will change, on the contrary, in fact we know that success in this space is through learning and adapting to ôwhat is actually happeningö and new knowledge gained from begging the CSM for help. ...
a ha ha ha I LOL'ed much!

They have no other way to get money, either more loans (this is what they do currently and will continue to do more to get and pay off matured loans - basically bonds in the company), monatise more of their existing assets (Microtransactions comming and comming fast and hard), sell / license some IP (last opttion and ruled out unless its do or die), company sell off (last option unless the investors get a great deal and will force it)
All you richies with monocles, you are paying for CCP's greed and will pay more.

However, i do want to mention that i am leaving this thread forever, because Miila just won't shut up.

Just a crazy thought...
Who are the ppl most likely to try WoD and Dust? Who are the ppl most likely to tell other ppl how awsome it will be?
I would have thought EvE players. Will you buy Dust or WoD after this?

I used to play V:TM pen&paper many years ago, and was indeed looking forward to the WoD MMO back when it was first announced that CCP had bought out White Wolf all those years ago.
As years went by, I started looking forward to it less and less, fearing that the recent Twilight *sparkle* craze would have a negative impact on CCP's interpretation of the game.
By this point, I wouldn't play CCP's WoD MMO - if it ever gets released - if they paid me. Maybe if they sold to licence to some other company I'd play "a" WoD MMO, but not one from CCP.
As for Dust, I stopped playing FPS games years ago so that was never on the cards for me.

For 10.000.000$ annual profit CCP is able to hire ~200-250 new devs to fix Eve. They are not doing it. You are paying.

I never quite understood what the fuzz is all about. Sure, people say that CCP have been lying about introducing Microtransactions in EVE, but I can't see what harm the Noble Exchange-thing has done so far. It's not like richer players suddenly got an advantage over less economically fortunate players. They already had that advantage. In a sense, this whole deal has been around for a long time, if I recall correctly.
What I'm hinting at here is PLEX. As you probably know, you can buy PLEX with real money, sell the PLEX in-game and get ISK for it and use those ISK to buy fancy stuff. How exactly is this different from the Noble Exchange store? You still buy PLEX with real money, exchange it into AUR, then buy fancy stuff using your new AUR.
I don't mean to actually defend either side in this debate, I just want to point out to all those who want Microtransactions gone, that removing them entirely would require that PLEX are removed as well. Would you really want that to happen?
---
Now, I can understand that some people are mildly agitated that they have been lied to by CCP. To be honest, I only recently heard about the MT-protests. Until Incarna came out, I had no idea CCP were planning on adding some of the useless vanity-items in the Noble Exchange-store. It probably could help if I actually read the dev-blogs, rather than only bothering to read the Patch Notes that come with each patch.
In my eyes, the Noble Exchange-store only offers more options for using your PLEX, and as such isn't really that bad... YET! I don't mind that you can buy vanity items if you feel you have the money, but if they start adding more... attractive options, then CCP might as well take a Tech 2 1400mm Artillery Cannon and shoot themselves in the foot with it. I probably won't be using the Noble Exchange-store anyway, since I don't have the money to buy PLEX for that purpose, but I would probably consider quitting EVE the moment they allow you to buy Faction Standings and Faction Ships/Equipment. Allowing those to be purchasable goods would honestly ruin EVE for me, and probably also for the rest of my Corp. Why? Well, they're not things that should be aavailable for purchase in the first place. Faction ships, modules and standings should (in my eyes) be earned, rather than just bought for money. Besides, I think I speak for a lot of people here, when I say it's a lot more fun to go out and earn the ISK and Loyalty Points needed to buy a Faction Battleship, rather than just buying a bunch of PLEX's and exchanging them into AUR and then just buying the ship. It is a lot more entertaining to watch random NPC-pirates go "Kaboom!"
---
All in all, I think CCP should be very careful what they do next. My corp actually wouldn't mind if they could go back to Incursion 1.6, and then continue from there, but I guess that's not going to happen any time soon...
And whatever you do, CCP, don't p**s off your players more than you've already done. Right now, there's a fire, and your kind of damage control seems to be pouring gasoline on the flames. Needless to say, you should do what would work, rather than what isn't as effective (that is, you should give your players what they want, rather than what they don't want). They don't want words or excuses, they want (sorry to say it) Incursion 1.6. It had less complaints, it allowed them to spin their ships, and it was generally rather well done unlike Incarna in general.
That's all from me. I think we're done here.

WoD - I really don't know. On request, I built a combat engine in PennMUSH in the late 90s for some friends who had a white wolf vampire thing going on, I didn't play it, I just built that part for them, so maybe some older people, emo kids if it let's them rage in-game and be 'evil'
Dust - I would have played it if were on the PC. Consoles and I do not get along.
Who are the ppl most likely to tell other ppl how awsome it will be?
For Wod - White Wolf has a fan base, or did as far as I know, and has had one for quite some time. I suspect they would be looking forward to it. That whole 'larp' i guess? When you boil it down, that is what CCP got with the merge, the fan base. No one has IP over the idea of 'vampires', cept Vlad, and he's not filed a law suit in years.
For Dust - I'm sure they were counting on some word of mouth from Eve, but most likely in the FPS advertisement and PR channels.
Will you buy Dust or WoD after this?
Nope, would have done Dust on PC, as stated.
My faith in CCP will return SoonÖ We'll watch what you do not what you say.
