That would be the definition of a limited duration test run.
They also said if the numbers sold began to have a negative impact on the economy, they could and would pull it at any time.
They also announced it in advance.
When they still got negative feedback on it, they listened to that feedback and cancelled the test until it could be implemented in a better way.
So reacting to player feedback is a bad thing now apparently.
It was in the day 1 coverage not the day 2 coverage. Starts at 3:15 in and clearly does not contain the word TEST. This is also the same time that the Dev "mis-spoke" on what he "mis-remembered" during the CSM visit. This was never designed as a test. Everything else after this was just back peddling and covering of their arse becuase of player backlash. Much like we are still seeing.
AT9 Ishukone Scorp.. 3:15 in starts the chat!
So his clarification at the beginning of the chat that the next iteration of the NeX would be able to take a ship hull in addition to AURUM means nothing.
That they were releasing it in August and the next intereation of the NeX is likely this fall doesn't mean short term.
That they go into more detail of their intentions in a Dev Blog is only back peddling.
Why, because it directly contradicts your opinion?
You are going to have to do a little better than that if you want the well informed section of the forum community to buy into your mindset.
Nope! Means jack-sh*t to me especially when it morphed into throwing the CSM under the bus then changed to a test. The test statement only came into being when the community went WTF?????
The bottom line was to put it into the game to make some quick $$$$ without examining the impact to the player base and the player driven economy. Sounds like they just didn't bother to think about the end result.....
Oh wait.. That sounds like what originally caused all this. FAILURE TO THINK by CCP...

1: If CCP were foolish enough to do this, keep in mind that items/services sold through the NeX are available to all players. Older players would benefit just as much, if not more, than noobs.
Noobs will be hurt more by MT than anyone.

2: Also keep in mind pay to win refers to being able to buy an in game advantage with cash, an advantage not available via other means. All items/services sold through the NeX are readily available to everyone whether they spend cash or ISK to get their PLEX/AURUM.
That purchasable advantage will lead to a lesser value of something comparable. That lesser value permeates through the economy. It will effect those closest to what ever is being substituted first, and then work its way out across the entire economy.
My faith in CCP will return SoonÖ We'll watch what you do not what you say.

You have to ignore the effects this will have on the plex market as more and more plex are poofed into aurum rather than converted into game time this will cause an upward pressure on plex ISK prices as supply decreases it also opens up the temptation for CCP to take steps to reduce the availability of ISK.
Oh now they'd never say they were doing it to push the sale of more plex they'd just claim it was to fight "inflation" or to balance the risk vs reward.
It's generally a bad idea to design a system where bad behavior is encouraged.
I mean come on we're supposed to just roll over and take accept this crap because "CCP is a business it's their job to make money" then think they aren't going to actually try to capitalize on it?

The scammers must love it when you visit Jita.
1: You mean any player with large amounts of liquid ISK or large real life wallets. Just like the rest of the EVE economy.
2: You are forgetting that there is a HUGE surplus in unused PLEX floating around. You are also overlooking the basic market forces that keep the price of PLEX in bounds. Demand increases > PLEX prices rise and become more profitable to resell > More players buy PLEX to resell > abundant supply and competition drives prices back down > Low prices cause few players to buy PLEX for resale > supplies drop and demand increases > and so the cycle continues.
You should also consider that the game desperately needs more ISK sinks as it is. This, however, is not an ISK sink.
Finally, of course they are trying to bolster their income. They would be a complete business failure if they didn't explore those options. This is one of the main reasons why purchasing skill points boosts, outside of the system we already have with the ability to buy a highly skilled character full blown, is very unlikely to occur. It would ultimately do more damage to their income stream than it would generate.
I personally prefer to stick with realities rather than hypothetical and unlikely what if's.

This question is for Eve and Eve only, I don't care if I can buy gold ammo for DUST players, as long as that isn't implemented in Eve we are cool. Hell use your legal team to come up with the answer specifying that other games that influence Eve may have gold ammo but Eve itself never will.

(AFK a while, selling my shares in CCP and trading them for shares in Durex, I've a feeling the remaining EvE Online players will be buying a lot of lube when the rest of the NeX store roll out ;) )
What do I expect to happen next?
Fair question.
1: I expect at the CSM meeting some of the future plans for the NeX will be spelled out in more detail.
2: I expect that those future plans will include items/services that while not strictly non-vanity items are also far from pay-to-win scenario's. One example would be to use AURUM to buy player owned store fronts/bars where players can earn ISK from their establishments, or similar proposals. Thus explaining why there has been no blanket no non-vanity item statement as that would also cover those goods/services.
3: I expect them to firmly state that MT will remain part of their overall plan, and why.
4: I expect them to outline why the NeX items released so far are very high dollar. I suspect it has to do with keeping demand reasonable at first so as not to send too many ripples through the PLEX market.
5: I expect them to reinforce that the views of the player base do have value to them, and point out some of the many examples where they have heeded that advice. I would also not be surprised if they (hopefully tactfully, LOL) pointed out that while the feedback has value, it can not be allowed to directly dictate corporate policy.
6: I expect them to give a rough timeline of the next steps in the MT process. At least as far as they can without compromising themselves through any possible leaks to their competition.
7: And finally (yes this is cynical and catty of me) I expect that as this information is revealed part of the forum community will declare victory and pat themselves on the back for keeping CCP in line. I expect the rest of the forum community to get to work trying their best to theory craft the worst possible what-if scenarios possible... partially out of habit, partially to preserve their sense of dignity.
That's the main points, we'll see how close I am when it's over.

@Ranger1
Good answers to be honest. Can't fault them but for one fact, if their intentions were so Noble CCP would have said those very things already.
People aren't angry about the mental stuff in the store, they are angry at everything else - including the lack of response, the name calling behind our backs, the buggy, untested rollout of Incarna and fear of what's ahead. There's a lot of really, really clever players in the EvE community - and the best and brightest are saying, 'sod this, I can't be arsed with this BS, I'm off'
If the management and directors had been more open and honest, had spelled it out to the CSM and looked for a way to improve things we'd have helped.
Look at WoW, the pets and mounts bring in tens, possibly hundreds of millions of dollars for Activision. At worst the players on the sparkly ponies get laughed at. Personally I find Activisions greed disgusting and unpalatable, but they show that a subs plus rtm model can work, if the fan base is devoted enough.
When you start ****ting in peoples sandbox though, people start looking for a cleaner beach, hmmm...
If CCP said 'ok guys, are we ok to offer decals, paint jobs, etc...?', they would be few if any issues. (The Greed is Good? Hilmers memo and the idiot dev blogs and whinging to Icelandic papers though...)
I don't personally give a rats turd about 'cultural differences' and how Icelandics are, they are an international company with offices and staff around the globe. They have PR for when the **** hits the fan. And telling the PR to stay the **** out of it is NOT professional, it's dellusional.
If we were dealing with sane, rational people then yes, your scenario is what we'd expect. Personally I think that directors of CCP are away with the fairies and I am astounded that the VC investors and third parties like Sony have sat back on this!
