Are you going to **** the EVE Online sandbox over for Monetary Transactions or not? If not, all is forgiven. If MTs are going to impact the sandbox, start printing your resumes and god help you all.
The designs we will implement in game will not **** over the sandbox.
Is that supposed to be your answer to the question of whether or not you'll be able to buy non-vanity items with RMT?
I make a living negotiating large scale real estate contracts and spend the majority of my time sitting across the table from attorneys. That is the most lawyeresque redirect, side step answer that I could imagine. why was that the question that you picked out of this threadnaught to answer? Is it because it was easily redirected with feigned indignation in an attempt to change the course of the outrage of the rest of the community? Was it a weak attempt to make the rest of the community to go on the defensive?
CCP's PR department is as out of touch as the rest of their company.
The only answer that will stop the backlash and failcascade is whether or not non-vanity items will be available through RMT. Answer it fully and in a straightforward manner because all you're doing is making things worse.
Friday is my personal deadline. More evasions and non-answers and I'm out. I've got better things to do with my time than forum troll.
Sorry about grammer issues but I'm on my iPhone and typing is a pain in the ***.

Not in any particular order.
1. MT in a subscription game :( why do I have to pay twice?
2. Overpriced Nex items, granted they are optional its just a ****ing insult. I wouldn't be bothered if it could just be bought for isk tbh, its the fact plex must be involved.
3. The leaked PDF showing what people at CCP think internally about the future of EVE and MT
4. CQ in general has been lacklustre, years of development and we have ended up with a single room. I know this is the first iteration but you want us to upgrade graphics cards for this no content cupboard. Bring back the old hangar, and make us want to use CQ by adding content and features. This has made number 2 even more irksome.
I worry about the future direction of EVE and CCP, by having both subscription and MT they seem intent on milking the playerbase for everything they can get while concentrating on the other projects in the pipeline. They are free to do what they wish with their profits, but if EVE suffers from it then we as customers have a right to be ****ed off.
How long before they start making non vanity items available from the Nex? The doomsayers who said plex would be the beginning of a slippery slope seem to have been right.
And finally what is the future plan, is it going F2P or what?

It was a close run thing. They *almost* got to the point where customers were fully milked and mafia could just take over with RMT and site licenses to launder their money.
I wonder how angry they are that CCP ****ed it up before the structure was complete.

I don't think I've ever seen an issue cause this much bad will in an MMO before. There will always be people who think that the owners don't listen to the player base but this week it seems like half the active subscriber are beginning to think that.
IMHO what would restore a lot of faith is an announcement was made real soon that : 1. No monetary transactions will ever buy you an in game advantage. 2. The CQ would be an optional feature upon docking.
This guy is describing exactly what I'd like to see.
Originally by: Elondris Singh I was in the middle of the crap storm that arose on deviantArt over the Design a Starship Contest. That was nothing compared to this.
I don't envy CCP employees and interns that have to wade through this.
And for vanity item costs, well I might pay a couple of bucks here and there for a pair of sunglasses or a nice shirt. But my wife would rip of two things I'd rather keep attached if I paid $60 for an in game item.

You do realise that you can't just sweep this under the rug and hope it blows over, right? That you've been caught trying to pull a fast one on your sole group of customers, as in, the only people keeping the lights on and your mortgages paid? You're running out of time to get the deciders in here to offer their grovelling apologies and commit, in no uncertain terms, to limited and vanity-only microtransactions throughout eve; fail to do that or try to brush it aside, and you're going to face a catastrophic drop in subscriber numbers to a level that won't begin to support a 600 man enterprise. Inaction is suicide.

John Turbefield waited. The lights above him blinked and did not correctly conform to screen-space ambient occlusion. There were microtransactions in the game. He could not afford them, but had expected them now for years. His warnings to CCP Hilmar had not been listened to, and now it was too late. Far too late for now anyway.
John Turbefield was a CCP employee for four years. When he was young, he watched the spaceships and he said to dad "I want to be on the ships daddy!". Dad said "NO YOU WILL BE FIRE FOR MICROTRANSACTION"
There was a time when he believed him. Then as he got oldered he stopped. But now in the space station base of CCP, he knew there were microtransactions.
"This is Hilmar!" the telephone crackered. "You must fight the microtransactions!"
So John gotted his internal memo, and blew up the thread.
"HE'S GOING TO KILL OUR PROFITS!" said CCP.
"I will fire him!" said Soundwave, and he deployed the Incarna patch.
John argued with him, and tried to show him up, but then the graphics card overheated, and they were frozen and unable to move.
"No! I MUST FIGHT THE MICROTRANSACTIONS!" he shouted.
The telephone said "No, John, you are the microtransactions"
And then John had a monocle. ----- Andreus Ixiris CEO, Mixed Metaphor

Miilla. . . I'll bite and just tell you this.
If you do not have anything constructive to say just shut the hell up. You're like one of those stupid people that panicked and started spreading the world when doomsday was predicted.
I just want to say this to CCP
The only problems are not the price of the NEX per se'. Its meant to be that way. If everyone owns one then they are no longer "special". Secondly someone already said that if they were cheap, PLEX would go sky high. Is this what the playerbase wants to see??
I think CCP should focus on "fixing" CQ. Not because it is broken but at least make it work efficiently so that it does not take ages to load and tax heavily even most modern hardware.
Secondly. NEVER EVER introduce MT for items that would give you a bonus ingame. MT for new ship skins, silly avatar items, ammo with a different color is OK. Just NO ADVANTAGE TO THE PLAYER THAT MT's
Thats all we are asking imo. |

Hey Abathur, how's that freedom working out for you?
Aside from watching a game I love getting taken down the road to Crazyville, the view is just fine from where I'm sitting. I'm not talking about just Incarna or MT or whatever; I mean the whole package of miscommunication and poor decision making that has taken place in the past week...
I don't envy the task of CCP in the coming days but, in all honesty, they did it to themselves. Nearly everything that's happened in the past 72 hours could have been done better if CCP had taken a different approach to their messaging.
This thread that 'Pann' started... I can understand why it was done, but she's the wrong person for this particular damage control job. I may be a year removed but I still know how CCP as a corporate culture functions and that there is no such divide as she is trying to suggest from company intentions and even policies. I've got half a dozen old Fearless newsletters that read just like this new one and I've seen first hand what happens when the forums catch fire.
This, however, surpasses anything I've seen previously from either side (players or devs). Too many mixed messages and bad ideas have happened all at once and it's created a perfect storm for people to rage about any and everything. It's all I can do to even keep up with the threads, but I'm trying to read as much as I can so I can keep a measure of how the winds are blowing.
I'm going to start a thread on the CSM forums specifically aimed at this 'new effort' and ask how we can 'help' if only to see who responds and what they have to say. If CCP wants to drive on without using the CSM for the purposes they said they wanted to time and again... well, I'll certainly keep everyone updated as best I can.
Probably an idea to repost this, otherwise it'll get lost in the thread.

My faith in CCP has been slowly in decline, probably since :18months:.
I want to have faith that CCP will (continue) to make EvE a great experience, but you guys have been making that increasingly difficult.
At least for me as an individual player, my continued subscription depends firstly on the official response to the major issues raised in this thread and others, and secondly on your actions in the coming weeks. |

Originally by: Andreus Ixiris Why did you implement microtransactions against the will of the community?
not going to play devil's advocate here the whole day but the answer to that is simple
(a) "the will of the community" today is not the same as "the will of the community" tomorrow. CCP's answers so far show imo that they expect the community's acceptance of MTs to increase over time as people get more used to the model. Or to quote the PDF "We want to cater to long-term customers who will gradually acquire a taste for our wares"
(b) the community today is not the same community as tomorrow - the only useful feature of Incarna so far is the new NPE (with agent finder & new recruitment interface), that should give you to think. The audience that might try EVE just because of Incarna is probably a different demographic and is likely to have different ideas about MTs than 2003's SF nerds. Losing some old players in exchange for new blood (with lose wallets) doesn't sound like a bad proposition - especially when the "I can never catch up to all these old characters" complaint is one of the reasons (potential) new players stay away from EVE.

Edited by: Prima chica on 24/06/2011 10:01:23 I can't read all the posts and I don't usually post on forums but on this one I feel the urge to say my opinion.
I'm very worried for EVE and CCP. I love this game, and I just don't want it to take the road of MT. I want it to be immersive and MT are totally breaking this feeling. What do Aurum stand for? It just doesn't make sense, with Aurums I feel I'm not in the big, unique, universe that is New Eden, but in a paying internet service. ISK is the immersive money, the turquoise blue AUR is the RL money. I know you can buy AUR from market, but then why not buying vanity items with ISK then? MT are just breaking immersion completely. PLEX implementation is brilliant since their justification as flying license reinforce immersion. And I don't consider it as MT.
About CQ, I must say I fiund it very promising. I was looking forward ("was", as now this newsletter darkened my Eve future) to see where it'd bring us. Incarna was imo very needed for immersion, and I say you've set a first solid rock in its fundations. Now I understand people who don't want to be forced into it. So in my opinion when docking we should remain in our ship, and then click a button, to get out from ship and go in our home. It seems to me as the logical thing to do as it is immersive. You enter station in your ship, you and your crew stay in the ship.
So to sum up, if instead of focusing on how to get more income from your player base (which is the general feeling sweating from this newsletter) you'd have focus on how to keep your new features well merged and immersed in the universe, none of this would have happen. Your priorities seem to have shifted and it tells me that the people taking the decisions are completely disconnected from the fabulous universe they created years ago.
Edit: I'd like other players to keep discussion civil and stop spamming giant messages. Stop being fools, this problem is too important

I can't even figure out why in the character creator my toons look awesome and in station they look like morbid old hags and depressed beat up men.
I said this in our alliance ***** thread. It's like CCP doesn't have Editors for their designs. I wish so much they'd hire me to go look at their proposed plans and actually edit them so that they don't welp constantly. If they do have editors, fire them, b/c it's obvious they aren't doing their jobs. If it's not them, then it's their management who's fubar not giving the editors the right to tell someone their work is **** and do it over.
CCP needs to realize that the game has at least 15 major issues in 0.0 along with 100 minor ones. They don't even address the 15 major one's til players are happy and we're shocked and awe'd when they finally hit one of the minor ones.
Seriously, how do you guys go about setting an agenda? I don't get how you guys prioritize patch work over there because it's like you avoid anything that's relevant.
I'd be happy with the station stuff if it were part of a bigger patch. But tossing this out without any significant fixes to 0.0 all the while telling us it's 6 more months til we can hope for some relevant fixes to supers, sov, and other 0.0 fiascos and not even touching the other major problems more than likely is not a way to keep customers around.
I mean FFS dudes, we told you Supers would be a problem the moment seleenes ******ed ass announced it. We told you exactly what the problem would be. You didn't listen then and now you act totally ignorant of the problem that came true.
Short of dreads, no capital ship has any balance or role in this game. Carriers are a joke and have been a fiasco since launch. SC/Moms have been an even bigger blunder b/c they're carriers on steriods but not really b/c they cost too much so "we have to give them more overpowered ****" Titans are just everything that would make dreads overpowered if they weren't balanced while tossing on 40x more HP and oh yeah, a 1 shot kill weapon that every game ever invented knows is a failed idea.
Bombers are a joke
Fleet warping in blobs is a fiasco
Drones are out of control "fix it balance items" that have no logic to their implementation on 90% of the ships in game.
Dictor bubbles last to long. Hictor bubbles don't stay up long enough and are too big for a movable bubble.
POS have every flaw possible for what they are.
Sov stuctures are a joke in every fashion
Sov warfare is even more of a joke.
There's no balance between ship sizes/classes anymore.
There's no sense of races.
There's no reason to do mixed racial fleets. It's either all amarr, all matar, or all caldari missile spamming ***gotry.
WTF Minmatar guns on almost every BS.... cause of a "balance change.
WTF hybrids.
Range warfare really means between 40 and 90...
WTF probing
WTF warping on grid
WTF command / titan bonuses sitting in towers w/o a risk in the world.
WTF super cap bouncing... AKA go back to actually implementing formation warps.
WTF desynces were fixed... oh wait.
WTF BOTTING!!!
WTF standings and standings changes. Blobs became bigger as a result of bluing being a 1 15minute change away. And TEMP BLUEING omg even worse.
How is it the only way to have fun in 0.0 is to become a nomad non space holding alliances sitting in an unconquerable station with jump clones and bridges to escape system when camped all the while destroying the space people hold while avoiding the horrible nature of sov warfare and making more money doing it.
and more....

We know the other stuff is wanted. We know Incarna is also wanted and are working towards what many of you have wanted out of it. It just takes time.
Does this mean you are confessing your system of creating content is failed, as you put priority of creating content above fixing content that's previousely released what needs to be fixed first? I've been looking around in htese forums ever since i've started EVE to have a grasp of what's going on behind the screens and within the community, and how often has your player base asked, pleded and begged to first fix the problems that EVE is and was facing before releasing any more content?
