This is breaking me. Slowly but surely.
How can any of you, who claim to try to be fighting for justice and freedom stand to get up in the morning? How can you look at the massive institution of oppression, that you know you've no hope of collapsing, despite everything, and not losing it? How can you stave off despair? How can you hold onto hope?
I used to not care, and it made things easy. It made it so I could face each day. But it also made me a monster, doing horrible things to people, for what? For amusement. I can't do that anymore. But at the same time, I don't know if I have a place in this battle. I'm out of strength. I don't have what it takes to fight in this war. I'm ready to put a bullet twixt my eyes for the pointlessness of it all. What can I do to change things? What does it matter what side I'm on? With or without me, evil wins. What's the point of trying? I can work and claw at the institution for change, I can do my best to help as many people as I can...and what? Someone Revan ****ing Nefaris can just come along and vent 50,000 people to prove a point.
How am I supposed to stay strong, when I know that nothing I do will ever have any real impact? How am I supposed to hold onto hope, when everything I strive for, all the good I can try to do, can be undone on a whim?
How can I bring myself to get up in the morning?

Everyone needs something to motivate them, Be it the quest for power and wealth or a desire to help the helpless.
My motivation is vengeance, It fuels me and pushes me to continue the fight, then I see a war target and adrenaline takes over.
The rush of combat is also a motivating drug, most of the time I win but even if I lose it doesn't matter, We are Immortal.
So look for your motivation, I recommend vengeance as killing your enemies is very satisfying.

Miss Alterana,
It seems I am having this conversation a lot lately, with friends and associates alike.
The fight for "justice" and "freedom" never promised to be easy and it certainly never promised to be won. You find your strength by changing your perspective.
People like Madame Neferis can affect 50,000 plus lives with such an act as she's promised to do and maybe you are powerless to stop her.
But you know what you can do, Miss Alterana? You can affect 50,000 more lives with your own influence, power and resources. You cannot win every battle, you will not save every person.
But you fight to win the battles that you can and save the people that you can. You fight because even if you affect only one person, if you change only one life, then you've impacted another for good and they, in turn, can affect others.
It takes only a single light to banish the darkness around it, and for miles away that light can be seen. Sure, that light will only show the way for a few people, but those few people can shine their own lights and where once there was a room full of darkness there is now light and hope instead.
That belief, that single belief that you can make a difference for at least one person, is what keeps you going.
Never give up. Never surrender. The war needs more good soldiers on the front lines.

Well first, I would say that it's up to Ms. Neferis to actually prove that she's done such a deed. Actions speak much louder than words and while she's very good at wordplay, historically speaking, she's not so good in the actions department.
Personally, I don't fight for abstract notions like "freedom." "Justice," depends on the values of the people you align yourself with. The Angels do not strike me as being "freedom fighters." I think it's more about amassing power and wealth.
Just because you're a capsuleer, doesnĘt mean you have to go out every day and slaughter countless people, alter economies and strip asteroid belts bare to further your viewpoint. Sometimes it means relaxing with a few friends over a drink or spending the day in bed watching holovids. The acquisition of power as a capsuleer should be to give you the ability to support your goals and ideas with impunity.
Think like an Amarr for a minute. The Empire seems to move with glacial slowness at times because it doesnĘt react well to present circumstances. Instead it defines a very long-term goal and works towards achieving it, even if it takes generations. You have the capability to do the same thing. Don't worry about effecting the here and now. If you have a goal, be patient and let it achieve fruition in the fullness of time.
You're just hitting a mental hump. Take a day or two off, walk on a beach and make some long-range goals.

You better review your records. and check amarr market and whats happening around there btw... Before you start to look really really bad now. I know that compared to me you are just a very young capsuleer, but knowing history and following current developments won't hurt you if you wish to continue to display opinions on IGS that can be easily contested by facts. As for slaves and my words x actions, I have one tip for you: space and freedom IV.
Just a hint.

Oh come now Milady, no sense in picking nits.
I've asked you in the more appropriate thread if you would be kind enough to supply proof when and if you do the deed.
And you are correct, compared to your extreme years, I am in my prime.
I would point out though as a testament to your previous lack of effective action Space and Freedom I, II and III.
This whole affair isn't just some way for you to try and remain relevant and edgy is it? Nah, couldnĘt be. That would be sad.
LetĘs leave Ms. Alterana to her existential crisis shall wee? I believe you should be loading that airlock right about nową

I see that you have no clue about what happened with slaves involved and why i mentioned space freedom IV.
And before you become the laughstock of new eden, pray tell: why would a sovereign of sani sabik have anything to do with space freedom I, II III? oh boy this will be interesting now!
* she smiles shaking her head in awe of the amoung of ignorance *
I'm trully a freedom fighter now... * she can't help but laugh a bit more... * oh my... God heaven's man get a grip.
At least you are entertaining. Now go out and do your homework. How about collecting some cans at space hum? Will help your search.

Hrm...you know what? I'll just stop here.
Go ahead, claim victory if it helps your ego. I don't think I'm going to enable you in your particular brand of crazy any more today.
I have my own brand of crazy to attend to.

Better you do... unless you come back very well informed because you have made quite a fool of yourself thus far. I'll leave you at that.

I can't speak to Pilot Alterana's original question and I think that others have offered good counsel anyway, so I'll leave that aside.
I just want to say to you all; do not feed the crazy. Nefaris is an egomaniacal sociopath who derives her twisted pleasure from being the center of attention. She craves any kind of attention, positive or negative, as it feeds her over inflated sense of self worth.
Because she refuses to undock so that we can exact revenge on her in battle, the best way to combat this vile creature is to deprive her of that which she desperately craves; just ignore Nefaris and she'll return to writing bad poetry to her spouse and leave us sane people alone. |

Kita, kita.... you must come to the Geisha House tonight and we will talk(glyph attached - Angel Cartel). Standing firm in the face of insurmountable odds is something I have a little knowledge about.
You must not look upon what you cannot do, only what you can do. There is much evil in the universe(glyph attached - corrupted), and also much beauty (glyph attached - Revan Nefaris) and I would like to say that they cancel each other out. They do not. Evil is winning. But there are those who fight against it with every breath.
Your fight is a just one Kita, and there are those who support you. Take heart that you have friends who will be there for you and fight with you. No matter the odds.
There is a reason for all madness.

Chin up, Angel. Remember the riddle about keeping a hundred people in check when you've only got a single shell left; you declare you'll shoot the first one to make a peep. Don't be one of those hundred. You can't die, anyway.

I learned a similar phrase. Not sure where its from, it wasn't really religious, not in the same way..
"It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything."
I'm still standings...taking little steps, but I'm still here.
