Edited by: Nemesor on 26/06/2011 07:56:45 I have been playing since 2005. It is the only game I played because it was special. It had consequence.
You make or take real time and effort from your enemies or for your friends. You literally make from Eve what
you put into it.
Microtransactions (or megatransactions) take away from that experience if they deal with anything other than Vanity items.
You say, "Trust us." You have been promising to take a look at Damps. At Blasters. At Mines. You can now add alternate
station interiors to that list. Fix and balance what you have on your plate CCP... then come and ask us to trust your judgement.

It's clear that this public message was intended for release after they released Incarna and along a timeline where CCP didn't think they would have some leaked emails to deal with. This message was pretyped before Incarna ever hit and it's obvious that it is. That is why it doesn't answer anyone's questions. The that they made us wait a day before it was released is crazy and fact that no one realized this is crazy. Total horse****.

The part about the clothes. The upper portion was created recently after they found out about the leaked newsletter. Should have mentioned that in my first post, sorry.

Ok guys Coke classic? or the "new coke" hahahaha
You know what, table top games are becomming more and more appealing
The video gamining industry is turning into Hollywood, and I mean I have not been to a movie in years, I go more toward books now (its like an evil web, even kindle is wrong, but thats another story)
Its like when you are young, having trusting nature, tend to be more open minded, you give things a chance!, as you get older, you learn that you trust and love things less, or you learn what to love and what not to. Its said older people get set in their ways, I tend to think that older people draw a line in the sand of lies. What are you going to tell a young child that your raising? "Son you live in a world of garbage, get over it, people who have control pretend to listen to what you think, but they never really care; its a rip off or be ripped off world; steal but dont get caught! thats the rule, now do your homework and be a good successful "pretend" moral human being"
The older you get the more of a lie and a load of crap everything is, but you know what.......apathy helps me through the day, I think I now know why religon was invented........ Bottom line, I dont care, if it messes up the game, I go away

To all protestors who made it out to Jita, Amarr, Hek, Rens, Dodixie and other trade hubs this weekend I'd just like to say - job well done. No matter the eventual outcome of all of this I feel truly blessed to be part of a community as strong and devoted to a single cause as the Eve Online community is.
People came together from all walks of life, all points of view and all corners of the globe and unified as a single, collective voice against the tyranny and oppression of CCP. This weekend has been the most memorable and spectacular experience I have ever had in Eve Online bar none and has restored my faith in humanity on a number of levels.
And before you ass grinders start ripping that apart - I've seen a lot of cool sh*t and participated in a lot of really spectacular events in the game - this still beat them all, hands down.
While there were some who's participation was clearly a demonstration of rightfully felt rage, the vast majority of the communication was civil, poignant, and concise. We were able to educate many of the masses of people in Eve Online about our concerns and this is a key part of the overall strategy we must take as concerned denizens of New Eden if we are to be successful in doing anything more than marking history with our epic events.
I wish to thank each and everyone who has participated in voicing their concerns and for demonstrating to CCP what our words apparently could not - that we will not go quietly down the road they expect to take us and that this is more than simple resistance to change. It's about knowing what is best for the game - and unfortunately, the only people left who even understand Eve Online intimately are us. We're it. It's up to us to convince this train wreck of a company that they're meddling with something that will break Eve.
I encourage everyone to continue this protest day after day after day until your subscriptions run out. Even if you only go to one of the market hubs for a couple hours to lend your voice when you can, just do it. Do we want to save this game that we've worked so hard together to build from being destroyed by people who have lost touch with reality? Then we must persevere. We must make our voices heard as often and as loudly as possible.
If you haven't yet unsubscribed your account(s), now is the time to do so. Tonight CCP stepped up their efforts to scare us away from Jita with cautions of violating the EULA and turning some of us red as 'protestors determined to be a threat by Caldari State'. We must not let this foolishness deter us from our convictions. We must be willing to sacrifice ourselves as martyrs for the rest of the community if we are to prevail. Good luck to all pilots and remember to explain our concerns to anyone that asks. Point them to the threads and inform them about pay to win, the micro (macro?) transactions lie, the arrogance and the dismissal of us... the customers of CCP, etc. We have valid complaints, please continue to express them in-game to others.
It is with great honor that I fly with you all. Friend, foe and random alike. You are all my brothers and sisters here and without you, my game would not be what it has been, what it is today and, with any luck, what it will be in the future. I've made a lot of great friends in 48 hours and each and every pilot who protested have my deepest respect. Fly safe my friends. o7

Well, so CCP Pros... it has a nice place to eat. CCP Cons... professionalism and communication are non-existant.

ARE YOU MOVING BEYOND AURUM-FOR-VANITY ITEMS?
So i can know should i continue to play and spend time on your game or not.
I think I can answer that for you.
Selling vanity only items (even at dumb prices) will only net you so much money, not everyone is willing to buy them. The vanity items are also not cheap to design, model and implement, and vanity must be feed and updated continuously. CCP's 6+ month lead time on making 1-2 new models/shirts/accessories would rendered the vanity only NeX store a joke eventually.
The only thing they could sell consistently in NeX is pay-to-win things. After that happens, its just a matter of how fast things go down hill.
But there is more.
The funny thing about most pay-to-win items is they have basically ZERO development cost. Add SP? Probably 10 lines of code to add points to the system already in place. Gold ammo? Take faction ammo, pallet shift the icon, adjust stats and you are done. Same with modules, BPCs and implants.
Vanity ships, or 'custom' paintjobs and logos will take more work, they've been requested forever and now that greed and a cracking whip are in full command, you'll see them very soon.
Pay-to-win items are just too easy, and too (short term) lucrative for the 'Greed is Good' mentality of CCP to pass up.
CCP will not come out and say directly "Yes non-vanity items will be sold." because they are trying to be subtle on this (and only this it seems). String people along, slowly ease 'innocent' pay-to-win items in the store, and hope people are blind enough to not only pay a subscription, but also pay out the nose for items all but required to play the game.
IS CCP moving beyond aurum-for-vanity items? Yes, at full speed.
Greed is Good after all.

Dude... I wrote http://www.reportbots.com. I got a mention at the last fanfest for my efforts to curb the botting problems in Eve. WTF have you done about it?
*THIS* is a much more important topic for me at the moment. *If* they will be introducing pay to win at any point in the near or distant future to this game *it will break*. Period.
Having said that, let me also say this. If this was the first time we've been down this road with CCP I'd be (and have been) on your side of the fence laughing at all the rage emo stuff and wondering why? But I've come over to the other side of the fence after watching CCP duly ignore their customers requests for game content and instead shove all manner of, well, not much really, at us for several years - all the while breaking even more and more of what brought most of us to this game in the first place - internet spaceship pew pew game. Not barbie dolls game, internet spaceship pew pew game. I turned CQ off on patch day. I already played with it on SiSi - it's cool but until there is more to do than flesh spinning I don't see the point.
I also already saw the items in the Noble Exchange, and indeed the noble exchange itself and bought and wore most of the junk they released to help them test. I, personally, have little interest in playing dress up barbies and won't spend real money on vanity items anyway.
If, however, they plan on introducing any of the 'Goron Gecko' actor topics, even in the benign case - where they introduce pay to win (pay real cash for a distinct advantage in an already subscription sandbox game) then it is game over for everyone whether you like it or not.
While I agree that CCP hasn't said they *will* introduce MT items that give players an advantage, the also have *not* said they will not. It's a simple question upon which many, many, many subsriptions to Eve hang in the balance on. Judging from CCPs history in recent years, I can only speculate, assume and am already thoroughly convinced that the lack of a proper response to that one simple question *is* the response. CCP has done this before. They did it with bots if you remember. I raged and wrote reportbots.com in response and it finally got some attention. I think I know what I'm talking about here. If you want to help, unsubscribe your account. You don't have to emo rage quit - you simply have to unsubscribe and give CCP a chance to figure out they made a mistake. In a few months or so, hell who knows - maybe in 6-7 mos from now, they'll either have mitigated this problem, in which case we all come back, or they have not, in which case we haven't wasted another 6-7 mos of our time or money being milked like cows or thought of as golden geese who will blindly and happily pay for CCPs vision of the future - which seems to be in sharp contrast to a spaceship game.
The most disturbing thing of all for me is Hilmar actually thinks that making a game which is more relevant in peoples lives than real life itself is a 'good thing'. It is if your only concern is the bottom line. But man that opened my eyes wide and but quick. Immersion in a game is one thing, but to want your customers to consider their Eve lives more relevant than their real lives just sickens me. I'm all for writing a good game and having people enjoy it, but to make world domination through virtual reality a goal? Ugh.
So, mate, I was on your side a few years ago. I've been here for a long time and loved every minute of playing the game and used to laugh and think people were over-reacting. We're not. We're reacting in the only way CCP ever listens - by unsibscribing our accounts or making such a public spectacle of them that they have little recourse but to listen to their players. This time, they're getting both. That's how f*cked this has gotten.
Here... I have an extra pitchfork for you...
That right there is a good, old-fashoned smack down. Concise, well-organized and to the point. Bravo.

Edited by: Siena Petrucis on 26/06/2011 09:21:58 CCP Zulu: "One of the biggest elephants in the room these days, not just for EVE but for the gaming industry as a whole, is virtual goods sales and microtransactions."
Forget about the rest of the gaming industry. Eve is unique in its single shard approach, a working sandbox and the ability of players to shape their universe. I don't want Eve to become another bait-and-hook game. If I want to play bait-and-hook, then there are plenty on the market without a monthly subscription fee. The day game-affecting items are introduced, I quit.
CCP Zulu: "While itęs perfectly fine to disagree and attack CCP over policies or actions we take, we think itęs not cool how individuals that work here have been called out and dragged through the mud due to something they wrote in the internal company newsletter. Seriously, these people were doing their jobs and do not deserve the hate and ****storm being pointed at them."
CSM and players made it very very clear long ago that selling in-game advantages is not acceptable. Even talking about that internally is a blatant disregard of the players wishes. ****storm is well-deserved.

I hate to say it, but I think the question everyone is asking has been answered. If CCP did not intend to bring in MT For The Win, they would not hesitate to say so. Indeed, why would they let this rage continue? So in the tradition of politicians and corporations everywhere, if you cannot confirm, stonewall. Perhaps it would be good to stop asking if they intend to bring in MT FTW and start asking them to change their mind?

I hope 334 + 94 = 428 pages of replies in 2 days is enough evidence that
greed is NOT good!
Seriously, are you stupid? look around you, greed is the worst plague on humanity, it's the reason behind destroying our environment, economies, wars, crime and almost every evil thing humans do!
Moreover, greed is what topples real world empires, when they keep wanting more and more and can't be satisfied anymore, that's when they start to fall apart and disappear!
There is a hairline relationship between a business and a consumer, if the business pulls too much then the line will be ripped apart!
For a long time I've had the impression that CCP is run more by friendships than by professionalism, and what I've read from reviews of working at CCP confirms that. What was leaked definitely confirms that you are so out of touch with players and profitable business.
430 pages in 2 days is a big problem if I were you! it's probably time to rethink your strategy and restructure the company if you don't want to crumble in 3-4 years MAX!
