This way, CCP are forced to give the $15 dollars paid for each PLEX to charity instead of keeping it for themselves.
Biggest impact will be made from those players with billions/trillions of isk. -----

Yeah...
....
....
You're gonna have to help me on this one. How is giving money to charity bad for CCP?
Or are you one of those people that thinks that a company that does a charity event doesn't have a set amount of money put aside that they intend to give, up to a maximum, to the charity they'll be donating to? You think companies do open-ended charity drives, with no idea how much they'll be giving away, when it comes to their own money? Even then, I'm not seeing how increasing the amount of money CCP GIVES AWAY is supposed to be bad for them.
Maybe things are just dif outside the US, cause here, that's a tax write off. And I suspect it's probably not much dif. in Iceland.

But then CCP will probably earn tons of positive publicity for being such a great company run by sensitive philanthropists.
You just can't win against these people. I'd rather we all march to Iceland and find a way to get that volcano of theirs going again. We need CCP to simply disappear just to make sure.

I'm all for the protest, because it's for a reason ...

This is actually a good point, rather than a plex going to waste somewhere and never getting used (basically giving free money to CCP) they will actually have to part with that cash
Might help those poor sods holding on to lots of plex ride out this mess, as currently I can only see plex prices going one way, down.

The only way to win EvE is not to play at all.

Edited by: Nin Kimrov on 24/06/2011 22:12:50 If you want to hurt CCP with your money, buy all the plex (with your isk)* you can and add them to the redeem system. Leave the game after..

You are doing CCP a favor if you do this, they are not bound to matching your donations nor with actually contributing anything. Instead, buy as many plex as you can and re-list them for at least 3-4x current prices. In doing so you force CCP to continue to have a massive overhead of plex (promissory notes) and also choke off access to aurum, which is being implemented to help relieve the burden of plex.

While i dont neccessarily want to see CCP go down because of PLEX turn ins. I think the way that it would actually have an impact would be if every plex being stockpiled was handed out to people actually paying a subscription.
Massive Aliances all quit, cancel subs. And then hand out plex to new players who pay subscriptions.
They would loose the those cancelled accounts, and loose the new subs, all simultaneously. Given the amount of overhead, and how far ccp is stretched. i dunno.....
Again, i wouldnt necessarily like to see this happen. I would much rather see them actualy INVEST in EVE and reshape their strategy to INCLUDE the current playerbase in their plans.
Its kind of insulting how they literaly just wrote us all off infavor of some future potential playerbase of people not even playing the game today.

well actualy the best way to do this would be to simply sell off your assets for cash and then send the cash to whoever it is you send cash to. CCP then sees a ISK shortage that they have to fix by going in and buying up plex for a charity.
CCP then has to Cash out the assets in the Plex account and while they also loose the liability, on any balance sheet having that mutch "Cash on hand" suddenly poof is not going to make investors/creditors happy.
.End of line.
If your too paranoid to play EvE. . . ...then your not paranoid enough to play EvE ----------------

Look, you derps it works like this. Once a PLEX has been bought, the $$ are CCPs. If a PLEX is given to a PLEX4GOOD cause then CCP give those $$ to charity instead.
The tax-writeoff issue is of minor concern. When I looked into this the value to CCP is very low, as as far as I can tell they don't bother because of the complication of justifying it because of PLEX being a virtual goods.
Might CCP get positive press for THEIR PLAYER BASE being generous? Yeah, maybe.
But the key point is here that it hits CCP in their wallet - the main thing they care about. The only f*cking metric they care to measure. -----
