The type of change that's being talked about sounds more like the willingness to exchange the current player base for a slightly different player base. No one likes change.
I hate comparisons with SWG: NGE due to the fact that many returning players have stated that the NGE actually was more playable, but the fact remains that Sony had possession of a valuable intellectual property that they felt should be performing better. Changes were made. They were willing to gamble the loss of what was their current player base on the hopes of a massive influx of new subscriptions. They lost that gamble.
I wonder if some persons may be adopting a similar mindset in CCP. The mindset that they are willing to gamble the loss of their current player base in order to gain many more subscriptions and much higher revenue from in game sales. The last company that tried this is closing its servers this December.
It's a gamble.

Why do you have to have a very interesting debate on a time restraint?
Are the crappy 64 kbit/s songs you'd otherwise play that important?
"Oh dear," says God, "I hadn't thought of that," and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic. |

With Dust514 and WOD being supported by MT I guess they don't care about the risk or they would have made WOD a sub. It isn't because of Monocles FFS. |

I think personally, now we know about this email, which is basically telling CCP's customers to "suck it", if people really want to show their displeasure at being treated as children, maybe we should try an organize a mass protest, everyone logs off eve for a week ??
I dont have any illusions that 90% of people would stick to it, but its worthy idea to think on. I personally will be leaving eve after 6+ years over this rmt **** :(. Sad becuase its been my home for such a long time. \But people need to grow a pair an actually stand by their opinions instead of sounding off with hot air. organize a strike as such for 7 days, see how CCP feel when there's hardly anyone playing??.

Indeed it is. I was there for the whole thing, and I don't think it's really at the "NGE", and yes, the game later was playable under that system, but they could never ever get over the public relations nightmare of the Trials of Obi Wan + NGE + Firing the Community Manager and Smed's amazing brick-walling in the forums of the time.

Also getting confirmed reports from the SiSi server that NEX items are DESTROYED when you get podded, because the items are applied to you CURRENT CLONE. Therefore when you get into a new clone, NEX items are not on them.
Beautiful. I mean I don't know how this can get any worse other than another Zulu leaked email saying " all current subscribers have had there bank accounts cleaned out, thanks for giving us your secure information, Sucker--- I mean Capsuleers"
Fun ride though.
Edited for spelling errors

Yeah, once the damage was done everyone knew to stay away form SWG. Regardless of whether or not it was playable, Sony earned a reputation for betraying and utterly disregarding their player base.
I hate to see CCP go the same route. I don't know if we've started down that road yet, but I have to wonder...

Perhaps time to hire some Hollywood PR firm for this? I mean, it seems CCP is in need of some serious professionals to come spin this disaster (I mean all of this since Tuesday).

Another possible point of view.
Perhaps CCP has gotten immune to the player base "rage quite" threats after every new release (exaggerated for emphasis).
Seems their belief is that either too small a percentage of the player base is chronic complainers or "I'm gonna quit" types and year after year ... we're all still here. . ====== Yup, that's all I got. |
