I've read it, and it shows a blatant ignorance of the history of EVE as a game and of in game Lore, actually.

0/10.
It sums up why people feel they rage they do right now.

What that there's a poorly priced item shop or a halfway decent start to a station interior? Frankly, the protests have done more to detract from my enjoyment of the game then the possibility of item shop frigates able to mount pre-nerf doomsday devices.
I mean, seriously, I hate to think what the lot of you would have done back when Eve was new and **** like this happened all the time. Probably did what you're doing now: Throw tantrums on the forum, try and interfere with other players enjoyment, and then either rage quit or get over yourselves, after half a dozen people asked 'Can I have your stuff?'

Fascinating. Could you elaborate?
What have I missed in the last seven years and two months, and how is it relevent to Tippia's conclusions?

I'd say you're spending too much time on the forum if the protests have been that big of a distraction. The arguments laid out in that document are well-written and valid. Leaving aside the arguments about the superficial aspects (CQ, NEX, which the author themselves separates from the more meaningful areas of discussion), it is imperative that the points about MT and CCP's dealings with their customer base are said repeatedly until we know for an absolute fact that CCP gets the message that we're ****ed off about the direction our game is taking. Yes OUR game. That's what has always made Eve different from other MMO's, and what we're in danger of losing.

No, it's called sarcasm.
As far as the lore issue goes: lore has had people able to leave their pods for years, though we still don't see the ship crews that are still present even on pod ships in lore.
In addition: No, because every route I go through on my little routes through EvE seems to have at least one ball of rude hypocrites on it now, screaming about the item shop unless CCP gags them, whining about the gags, but gagging in turn anyone that does not agree with them if they can.
And if this is the worst thing to hit eve in your time, you obviously didn't pay much attention around, oh, 2003-2005.

Yes. And your point is... what exactly? Nobody denied this.

Again, what's your point? Yes, there are whiny idiots in local. What does this have to do with the article?
Just in case you've forgotton what it says (or, more likely, forgotten to read it in the first place,) the FIRST thing it says is that the NeX shop and its pricing are NOT the problem. Arguing against a point that ISN'T THERE just makes you look ignorant - or a troll. Either way, it's a waste of electrons you've been spouting thus far.
I don't speak for everyone of course, but my main concern is the disconnect between what CCP has promised on record and what they've actually done and are considering doing. It is essentially a crisis of betrayed trust, because CCP have not communicated their intentions or kept track of the promises they made. This is also what the article is about.
Now, unless you have something relevant to say about what the article actually says, please STFU.

Yes I remember t20. We fixed that. It took a while CCP tried to brush it under the Carpet. But we fixed it. We also been fixing the players/alliances that benefited from that.
Now CCP are playing a new game of corporate indecency. They have forgotten their own propaganda though. The thing that makes eve is the community. The community are making sure this is big enough that CCP can not brush it under the carpet.

Edited by: Civ Zomas on 25/06/2011 02:09:24 The t20 scandal was certainly very harmful to player trust. It cast doubt on CCP's ability to monitor their staff's in-game actions - a weakness that was purportedly fixed through better auditing.
However, t20 was just one corrupt staff member who got caught issuing favours - a renegade who was almost disowned by CCP management. It was a big deal in Eve's in-game politics only because of the disproportionate economic power of certain T2 BPOs at the time.
While there've been no in-game effects from NeX yet and relatively minor inconvenience from CQ, in terms of CCP corruption this is a much more extensive betrayal of the player base. It has support from the management level.
Again, it's not the specific features but the broken promises that are most chilling. It suggests we cannot take CCP at their word. That is not the kind of organisation you give your credit card number to.

+1
Excellent, coherent, calm write-up of player's views towards this whole mess.
