If you listened to Eve Radio, or looked at internets or anything, you know about the mail.
Whole thing is sad. Even Eve Radio is playing sad music. This sandbox we've lived in for years has imploded thanks to greed. We're the ones that are supposed to be greedy and amoral, not CCP! Damn it! Don't you guys know that you're the ones who can break the world?! No one else has that power!
We had something special here. Sure, it was an eff'd up short bus kind of special, but people were willing to spend so much time on it. I was all pumped up to join the Jita protest because YEAH LET'S SAVE IT. But now? Feels like nothing we do will matter.
I unsubbed (no, not trolling and no you can't have my stuff, I still have hope...) and I'm waiting to hear if things aren't the way it looks. Apparently it runs out July 18, but it's like, well, if the Hilmar thing is really real what's gonna change in that time?
I'm not super dedicated, I just log in to shoot people in rifters and fight for my team. Been doing that for years (no, not on this char, again CYA in case the worst doesn't happen). But now why bother. If gold ammo is really the future, then I don't want to be a part of it. Take me to the renewal chamber and let me rot.
Anyway CCP, you had something here. You really did. Despite all the trolling, the ganking, the vicious wars, even because of it. And you might just be killing your "special" flower. So if you're thinking about changing your collective mind, now would be the time to say something.
Hope I'm wrong. Really really do.

Today I have been sadder than I have ever sadder been before.
There is so much wrong with the world today that it is very sad. There are people dying everywhere, there are more wars than I have fingers on my hands. There is still slavery and tyranny in many countries across the globe. There are disasters killing even 1st world country populations in the thousands, and the economy is terrible.
But this... this was the milk straw that broke the camel's thoracic area of his back. This is when I said enough is enough. This is when I decided to take action.
Tomorrow, when I wake up, instead of playing 3 hours of EVE a day, I am going to play 10 hours of EVE a day, and instead of 3 accounts, I'm going to buy 10 accounts, and I am going to spend all 10 hours a day in Jita shooting at a statue in protest. Enough is enough. I will pee into bottles if I have to, so I don't ever end my stance.
I am an activist, I am for liberty. My name is Syphon Lodian, and this is my story.

I keep going back and forth. I'll be thinking we don't really know anything for sure yet, and things may work out fine, then i get swept up in all the DOOM.

Honestly, the community ain't ****ed because it hates all things profit. A peek at the "we'd rather pay more in subs" petition says that for sure. Hell, the game is based around the idea of greed is good, and we buy into that no problem. I even describe myself as a capitalist pigdog!
We're all ****ed because we care about this game!
But now I'm just down in the dumps about it. #tweetfleet is saying the same thing. People aren't mad anymore, they're sad and they're quitting. You notice how there ain't "can i haz ur stuff?" posts anymore?
That says something. And it ain't good.

Ya, none of the people on the EVE-Radio show were positive at the end. Some came in hoping for positivity, and had good energy and wanted change, but now it's totally clear that CCP is in an internal struggle over these decisions and now it's hard to be positive.
However, the EVE Community will carry EVE, I totally believe that - no monocle can make that happen.

I work in the video game industry and clearly remember saying to all family and friends how working for CCP would be so awesome, how EVE was THE MMO game. The community here is a huge game design inspiration, to create a unique universe, a player-controlled environment with sandbox features, and I've been studying this game for a while now, because the PLAYERS make it inspiring. I've always dreamt of designing a MMO that would have all the best of EVE's features and offer an experience as satisfying as possible for a niche player base, because game design is about the player experience.
I'm not sure how I feel right now - deceived, betrayed, sad, shaken. The recent events leave a sour taste in my mouth and I'm looking for the Listerine bottle to magically appear (positive thinking and all)

I'm as sad as in the days we realized we couldn't hold out in the DR anymore :) maybe a tad sadder.
EVE was the coolest thing arround. The only MMO worth paying subs for .. well.. over 5 years. Just think how many monocles I could have buyed with those fees! :) Looks like they want to get rid of the hardcore fanboys and cater to a more casual clientele ... .. the Hello Kitty doll dressing is fun kind of customers.. sad ____________ nerf metagaming, boost fun |

For those of you saying you'll still play, I'm happy for you. I don't want the game to die. I think this is the best game out there.
That's not what I want.
The problem is that I'm worried that it's changing, and not in the "oh no only one jb per system kind of way", but a fundamental shift to a model that not only do I not want to be a part of, but I don't think any of the really dedicated players who make the stories happen want to be a part of.
That's sad.
I want CCP to stand up and say "We will never sell 'gold ammo', it will never happen. And we'll work with you guys to fix the communication issue so that stuff like this can never happen again."
Seriously, I care about this game. I don't want it to die. If they change the message, I'll be back in a heartbeat. But if this is the way it goes, it's gonna go that way without me.

I almost achieved eve-fame with GrieferGeddon, an anti-hulkageddon even. And wrote eve-related 3rd party apps that were on the verge of making it. Now they took that whole sandbox from me.
Am so sad i'm evaluating the Unreal engine vs Torque game engine.
I'm probably not the only one too.
There will be better space-sandbox than eve someday.

On one hand, its all very amusing, seeing epic things like ponystorms, and the door thread, and the community coming together in a really really amazing way.
On the other hand...CCP has handled this so, so, so poorly. I've lost faith in them to hold this wonderful universe together. I wanted to be playing eve in ten, fifteen, twenty years. I wanted to raise my children as eve players, I live eve as a lifestyle. I have posters on my walls and tattoos on my skin. I couldn't wait for Incarna and dust, and seeing the eve forever video made my heart skip a beat...
but this has left me just feeling lost. I feel like the thing that I built my social life on. The thing that I enjoyed so much as a person, and brought me so much happiness at a hard time in my life is going away, and there might not be anything I can do to stop it.
I think I might cry.

I'm not too sad as I've been losing interest in Eve off and on for two years now. There's lots of other games and things to do to make up for it. Gonna give World of Tanks a try.

Five Stages Of Grief
Denial and Isolation. At first, we tend to deny the loss has taken place, and may withdraw from our usual social contacts. This stage may last a few moments, or longer.
Anger. The grieving person may then be furious at the person who inflicted the hurt (even if she's dead), or at the world, for letting it happen. He may be angry with himself for letting the event take place, even if, realistically, nothing could have stopped it.
Bargaining. Now the grieving person may make bargains with God, asking, "If I do this, will you take away the loss?", "If I buy a monocle maybe they have enough money to actually do some game-design?"
Depression. The person feels numb, although anger and sadness may remain underneath.
Acceptance. This is when the anger, sadness and mourning have tapered off. The person simply accepts the reality of the loss. and buys 8 monocles. Or so some believe.

It's very depressing to think that CCP is not half as devoted to its players and subscribers as I was thinking. The newsletter was bad enough, but that horrible e-mail that got leaked really tore it.
Shame on you, CCP. Truly, shame on you.
Two subscriptions cancelled on my part. They'll be reactivated if you reactivate your morals, CCP.

If you do pay for it, make sure you use paypal and not the WOT payment service. It doesn't let you remove your credit card details.
