Originally by: larry hotter bigpants Well lets look at it this way shall we. Some items will be cheaper than Monocoles and some will be more expensive. If we assume tat Monocoles are the average cost of an item, then we can say the following:
In 40 hours they sold 52 monocoles, that is 1.3 monocoles per hour at that sustained rate you could sell 31.2 in a day, 218.4 in a week, 11,356.8 in a year. Generating 726,380.928 in sales each and every year and 60,531.744 each month. That is the same as 4,038 suscription fees each month.
No wounder CCP doesn't care if we leave, there is no way more than 4,00 people are going to up and leave EVE. Perhaps some will but 4,000 seems beyond the reach of reason.
With your logic, I formed this logic:
A game (Let's say Starcraft 2) sold 1 million copies on day 1. That means 1 million copy a day. They've spent 100millions dollars on it (estimated), and let's say the price was 50$, in only 2 days, they refund they're investment, in 20days they made 1 billion (because, you know, 1million copies in 1 day means 1million copies a day FOR EVER!)
Blizzard ****ing made 18 000 billion dollars now!!!
Lets not be rude, I think were on the same side. All I'm saying is that I highly doubt there are enough numbers of cancelled subscriptions to make any impact on their MacroT policy.
Let's not be stupid or delusional either. You try to make a point by using fail-logic, it just can't be done this way. 52 monocles on day 1, at that price do not expect to see that many more monocles sold in a month. And I think most of the people are not leaving because of monocle prices since it is optional and do not impact gameplay whatsoever, but more about their plan to introduce more stuff that nullify the sandbox with gameplay, which will hurt even more since they'll spend money on that only to have more and more people leaving.

It isn't fail logic at all. I can almost count the number of bean counters who see this as a liner progression and not some parabolic equation. I'm sure CCP has an idea on what the supply / demand curve will look like - they do like graphs. Even if it slows down to ONLY 12 monocoles per month they can still loss significant subscription numbers. I know people are not quiting over moncoles, that isn't why I'm quiting.
It is the utter contempt of use cows to produce milk for their farmer while the farm dosn't care about us that makes me leave. That and the entire we WILL sell golden ammo and we WILL sell faction control towers, etc...

I am sure that 52 per 40 hours will be sustained forever

They should have looked at a company that actually makes nasty profit: Blizzard or Valve and tried to mirror their price schemes. 25$ for a mount, or 5$ for a hat.... That sells tens of thousands.
Someone really doesn't understand pricing schemes.

I would also speculate that the people that bought them were in the big alliances that were raking in big ISK before the null sec nerf. So all they have done is take ISK out of the system.
But I think most people wouldn't be making such a big deal out of it if CCP would at least try to fix parts of the game that are broke. But no they dump resources into Incarna and DUST instead of fixing Hybrids(probalby break the game for good and is impossible), POS's, faction war the list goes on and on.
For me personaly this is the last straw. I will let my subs run out at the end of the month and not renew them for at least 1 month. If no positive changes are made I probably won't return. Which will be a bummer because I doubt SWTOR will have the depth that EVE has.

52 monocles sold in 40 hours. lets do some basic math 52/40 = more then 1 an hour for the first 40 hours, ok lets step it up
52*12,000(aurum) = 624,000aurum now well divide that by 3500 (the amount of aurum you get for a plex) 624,000 / 3500 = 178.285714...... well call it 179 since you cant do a fraction of a plex. so 179*15$ = 2685 so thats 2,685 USD made in a 40 hour period.
id be curious to know the totaly Aurum transfered rather then just the monocles. while CCP may consider 52 of those things in 40 hours a victory i dont. atleast not when you consider that theres usualy 10 to 50 THOUSAND people on eve at one time. so in the first 40 hours you managed to sell to roughly .104% of the average peak number of players(50,000).
my numbers could be off i dont have a statistics degree or a degree in econimics. when i log on theres generaly 10-54 thousand people on, looking at what the players do rather then what they say id have to say this item isnt a big seller.
But not all is lost. look at mallers! just a few weeks ago they were 2-4m in amarr (thats WTB and WTS) now they are up to 6-8.
So todays lesson for the class. NEW ship hulls sell! monocles dont!
last bit of FUN math for today 179 plexs used to buy the 52 monicals, so if 179 people make good on the threat to end their subscription, CCP will lose 2,685$ a month starting in augest. But atleast they got that 2,685$ through the monocles to cover that 179 players for july. 179 players = .33% of the peak number of players a day.

Blizzard actually knows how to make money from micro-transactions. They realized profit = price * quantity sold
You'd think the CCP economist would have already explained this to CCP leadership.

When will people realize that no ISK was taken out of circulation except for taxes, this is in no way an ISK sink.
