1) the intnernal news leter
The person who made the quote featured landed in jail. the movie itself was a cautionary tail that basicaly says No, Greed is not good. its both destructive and self destructive.
the actual quote from the movie is also interesting
Quote: I am not a destroyer of companies. I am a liberator of them! The point is, ladies and gentleman, that greed--for lack of a better word--is good. Greed is right. Greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of its forms--greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge--has marked the upward surge of mankind. And greed--you mark my words--will not only save Teldar Paper, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA.
the two movies of the series bascialy show how VERY wrong he was in one respect. His Greed after all landed him in jail, and the "Universe" he lives in, his 8 years in jail literaly aged him by 20 years, and almost cost him everything he should have cared about.
oddly enough the two Developers in that artical knew that was the point of the movie. and was probably also the point of them putting "Greed is good" as the caption.
and taken in context its entirely posible that both sides were playing devils advocate for the two respective arguments. (In fact there are things in that artical when taken in whole seem to indicate that they were fully aware that they were problems that they were going to run into, thus the "cloreen in the pool" coment)
In fact I have seen this kind of corperate news letter before, from my experience half of the people who get them never read them at all, and the rest just tend to skim over articals to see if there is something they may have missed (for that mater I just pulled up one for comparison, the cover story was the companys option of a 150k buyout on a local distribution hub. . . for a company that makes >1,000,000 a day on ONE PIPLINE.
The problem is that were dealing with what looks like a deliberatey caused trainwreck on CCPs part.
why do I say this?
2) the "Xtrapremium Items" (which is all thats in the Nex Store) are. . . kind of meh. In fact a lot of us thought that we were looking at something kind of like SIMs 3, (which has 4 levels of items you can buy from them)
Base items you find in each expansion
items found in "Stuff packs", fewer, but usualy higher quaility items(usualy 2-4 sets of items that you would find in the standard sims store package, but slightly lower quality from a apearance pov in that they actualy are slighly less detailed than sims store) that cost more per item"externaly"(but cheeper in that you pay 19.99 not 39.99)
SIMS store "package" items, basicaly a theam set that cost say 10 to 20 for one "Set" of items that are actualy slightly higher quality items(more detailed)
and then the high end individual items in the sims store.
Lets face it, if there had been a range of options in the store from inexpensive basic clothes and glasses up to higher detailed luxury items and items that were suposed to be rare because there freaking expensive. . . I suspect that noone would have said hardly anything negative. Hell we would have had 40 pages of forum threads with people gleefully playing dressup dolls on the forum by now.
The main problem is we have had what seems like a masive diversion of resources to create premium items that is (edit due the profanity filter being an idiot about some words)Duct-taped to a game that franly has more problems than a 07 chevy that has never had its oil filter replaced.
ok for some things its more like a 57 chevy thats never had the oil changed just added to it.
and there aparent solution to us is to sell us a 30,ooo dolar paintjob as a solution to EVEs ongoing problems.
Ive known for years, despite the ongoind denial that EVE has been a FTP/Microtransaction game.
and right now CCP is stuck with a VERY bad PR problem
.End of line.
If your too paranoid to play EvE. . . ...then your not paranoid enough to play EvE ----------------

I agree, what they should have done was create a range of goods, that would have taken time so they did what they always do anymore. create whatever crap they can get out under the deadline, yell "FINISH!" and now there trying to somehow justify whatever it was they were doing. .End of line.
