in terms of CCP coming out and saying there wont be any buy-to-win, can those of you who "quit" for Perpetuum finally admit it: Perpetuum sucks :)

I think it works better than EVE of old for what it¦s worth. Not too bad for a small team effort.

I think Perpetuum is the only game with a learning curve worse than Eve's.
You win this round.

Anyone who thinks otherwise of Perpetuum is delusional anyway. So who cares.

Yeah instead it will be faction ammo.
They did not take micros for game affecting items off the table if you read carefully.

I wasn't really digging Perpetuum, although most people who first start playing EVE have the same issue.
CCP still hasn't said definitively that there will be no pay-to-win. Let's just hope something good comes out of the CSM meeting next week. --

Well, I assume it will all come down to what transpires at the emergency CSM summit.

Nothing has been won. All we have are a couple of churlish and immature devblogs and non-specific double-talk. The verdict is still out. Depending on the outcome of the CSM meeting, CCP may still get their wish of replacing the veteran community with the kiddie crowd.

I would not claim that the protest succeeded.
Folks were raging on Thursday and Friday, complaining that there wouldn't be a substantive response until Monday. Well, ok, it's Sunday. I guess that's a win? Except that the response still isn't substantive - it's just "wait 'til CSM".
Nor has there been a clear, blanket statement that non-vanity items will never appear on the NEX. Nor do I think you'll ever see such a clear, blanket statement.
To be completely honest, the situation today is not much different from the situation on Thursday or Friday. The only real difference is that all the rioters have gotten bored and calmed down, so now they'll call anything a "success" just to feel like they accomplished something.

The protest has not succeeded, at least yet. We still have to wait for the emergency meeting results first.

No clear and concise answers, stalling for 5+ more days. You are still being watched citizens of EVE. If you relent they will exploit it, it is in their nature, it is in their greed.
Stay the course

I actually like it, I'm considering a subscription to it (in addition to Eve, don't worry CCP) and already got a month so I could get a corp and really try the game.

Definitely, like EVE back in the day I'm guessing. (TBH, Haven't actually tried either Perpetuum or old-school EVE.)
But it's summer, plenty of other things to keep a person busy. Thankfully CCP didn't **** up quite as badly in Canadian February, and that gives me a few months to find a new home.
Anyhow, worst thing to do while on the rebound is to jump right into a new committed relationship. Play the field a bit first.

Which, according to the CSM, means non-vanity microtransaction items.
This is like saying that evolution is "just a theory".

I found perpetuum interesting but not very well constructed. It seems very "small" but I guess that is eve for you.
Eve Dark Ages - a new free expansion brought to you by CCP. As the old knowledge leaves, it will all happen again. Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T84nrp08MWo&list=PLF614A7A6461E61E1 |

We may have won a skirmish, but the showdown hasn't happened yet. Hell, I'll STAY subbed a bit longer, and wait and see if they can frame a clear, precise "No, we will never ever sell game-changing items/features" (they seem to be rather averse to that). If not it means we re-start the protests.
I wish they wouldn't fart around with euphemisms like "Gold Ammo" though. It could actually have been used to mean "No game affecting items or features" but then again a good lawyer could argue with words to the effect of "Ah, but they ONLY specified AMMO!"
Pedantic, maybe, but we've all seen that movie clichT where the leader says to the bad guy "OK then, none of my men will kill you" then the leader of the gang kills the bad guy on his own. A nice illustration that what someone says isn't always what you think it means.

I'd be playing it right now if the server hadn't gone and collapsed under the population surge. While its a rather unpolished game compared to Eve, it has a lot of intriguing features -its very similar to Eve, but has all new mechanics to learn. Learning a new game is fun! -its a fresh start and a chance to shape the growth of a new world. Easier to do that there in Perpetuum than in Supercapitals Online -because its a new game we can expect to see a flood of new gameplay features instead of more cash shop items and mostly uninteresting Incarna stuff

didn't said i was quitting, however after trying it i'm still thinking the same as 6 months ago when i first tried it : the first day is horrible. lots of good ideas however. but how it's a copy-paste of eve mechanics is really to obvious. may be a pretty good games in one or two years however.

Yeah man, what the hell!
They can still flood the store with silver ammo, copper rounds, iron flakes and what not.
It can only be considered a "win" if it was started and orchestrated by the CSM to get a weekend holiday in Iceland (wouldn't put it past some of them to be honest ) which is enviable because it is gorgeous in the summer.
