Anybody have a Video Card that works with 4 clients in stations while running Captains Quarters?
Please let me know.
Thank you,

The GTX580 will handle it, however it will be bottle necked by the Q9550 at stock speeds. The Q9550 can hit 3.2 without much effort (possibly a small voltage bump) which could net you an additional 10 FPS or so. Just make sure you don't overclock with the stock cooler.
Also keep in mind that the 1.5gb of vram can be an issue at the higher resolutions.
Also don't bother with the superclocked version. Factory overclocked video cards are little more than a marketing ploy, and almost all stock video cards will be able to hit the same frequencies. They apply such a minor overclock that you're better off just getting a card with the stock speeds and taking 5 minutes to apply the overclock your self, saving you the $10-15 difference. FYI - most GTX580s can hit around 900MHz on the core on stock voltages without too much effort.

Thank you for you thoughts about the GTX 580. I am not against building a new system, but would want to know a couple of people who can get multiple clients working first.

In windowed mode:
i7-2600k + GTX580: had 3 clients up that still remained in the 45-60 fps range. i5-750 + GTX470: 3 clients required graphics to be reduced to medium detail to keep the FPS over 30 E8400 & E6450: had to scale down the window resolution and reduce video detail to low/medium to keep the game around 20-30 fps. The E8400 is clocked to 3.9 GHz and still had issues with CPU load. In either case the dual core CPUs were really struggling to keep up.

Tommbo,
Thank you for your responses. I will order the new GTX 580 for now. Then if CCP forces us to turn on CQ, order an I7, new memory and motherboard.
Do you use 64bit windows or 32 bit?

I've got two EVGA 560 Ti cards running SLi. Didn't start seeing lag until I hit 5 clients, and even then it was still easily playable. Great cards, would highly reccomend, just make sure you download EVGA Precision and make a new fan profile, the built in auto one is useless. Using my custom one temps were 80-ish max with 4 clients, usually 60-70 with one.

I've heard the 460 SE will do 3 clients, 4th client starts laging...that was on a dual core intel and I'm not sure on the guy's other stats. Maybe SLIed it would do 4 smooth. I'm running 2 clients on a single EVGA 460 SE (standard non "superclocked")with no problems. My system isn't new by any means, was assembled just after the Phenom II's hit the market. However I did upgrade the video card about a month ago.
AMD Phenom II 3ghz 8 gigs DDR2 EVGA GTX 460 SE 750W PS RAID 0 drive array Killer K1 nic SB X-Fi win 7 64bit
I know this isn't what you asked for, but hopefully it helps some.

Win 7 64-bit (32-bit has RAM limitations) Oh and it's at 1920x1200 resolution. Playable FPS is a matter of taste, personally I find things start to get borderline around 30-40 FPS.

Ack! Is it possible to change your order? Intel motherboards are horrible except for some of their server and workstation boards. Get something like the GIGABYTE GA-Z68X-UD3-B3 or MSI Z68MA-ED55. They are roughly the same price with a much better feature set and construction. Most of the LGA 1155 socket boards from Asus, MSI, or Gigabyte have a button that literally overclocks for you with a push of a button (yields are still better if done by hand).

@ Tommbo LOL, I had to cancel the order. I am used to motherboards having 8 slots for memory. However the Intel board does not. So the 6 memory chips would be overkill. I never overclocked my current ASUS board. Not too interested in overclocking now. I just want Eve to work.
As long as the Intel board and Eve Online are stable thats all I can ask.
I really appreciate your thinking about the Intel board. If it does not work, it can be returned.

im running a P4 HT processer 3.4 ghz 2 gb of ram, and a 210 nvidea card i found for 45$ at best buy 3 years ago. in windows mode im able to run 2 clients at about 15-20 fps each with medium graphics. load times are dedicated to the "primary" window however, so yeah.
my little brother has a nvidea 550 Ti and a 2.6ghz core duo and 4gb of ram, however the client crashs after 2 mins on max settings to everything.
in windows mode i run at 1080x720 or w/e the smallest window is, but if i reactivate the rest of my girls, i can tell you how my card performs with 4 clients in cq on the lowest settings.

Edited by: Pyrna Elkali on 03/07/2011 08:51:13 i tried 3 at max fps 30-40 (intervall immediat) system stable
config : Phenom II X6 1035T 2.6ghz (turboboost set to 3ghz but never go above 2.6 temp: 20-30c usage: 15-20% on 3 core 40~ on the last) EVGA GTX 460 SC (OC to a FTW model) (temp 60-70c at max charge 85%~) 8gb ram (std value select 1333mhz) HDD 1.5 tera std 7200rpm. 26" HD monitor Win 7 home premium 64bit
running all fine and winning the -1000$ rig contest xD (ok i dont match the 4 client requisit, damned not enough to keep the 4th up sowwwwyyy )
even worse : running a dual client all option to low on a netop with a AMD Athlon Neo X2 L235 1.5ghz 4gig ram SSD 64gb sata2 and a ATI radeon 3200HD 256mb ram embeded (ok its hardware laggy as hell but in single client it can keep up the job to run the extra client (since 2 client seems to be the optimal on my 1st rig in cq (45-55fps peak at 60 sometime)
