If I were to offer up a web-based application for you that gave the following features, what it be worth to you?
Designed for corporation leaders as well as their pilots, the application lets corp pilots as well as applicants provide their full api. An integrated security manager lets trusted (role based) corporation officers screen applicants without the officers ever seeing the applicants full API key. Those who've provided a key are given access to a suite of tools based on their role/title in the corporation. Tools include:
- fitting manager that shows what fittings you're skilled for and what to train
- Ratting Statistics for individual pilots and the whole corp
- starbase tower manager that lets pilots be assigned to towers
- transport manager that lets pilots be assigned to reoccurring shipments between starbases and stations
- alt management for both corp and pilots
- configurable hooks to your community pages (both corp and alliance aware)
- tournaments - creation, participating, running
- notification distribution via email (or email to sms) for things like towers under attack or low on fuel
- Everything is access controlled based on roles and/or titles
I can run this as a service or I can provide this as a software package that you install on your server. Either way, what is a reasonable cost for something like this? Would you buy? Would you avoid?
Thanks for your thoughts.

It might be more productive to also tell him what you WOULD pay him for. I'm certain there are features that someone is missing here.
I'd also answer in a price in both ISK and/or real cash.
Here I am assuming that your time and effort haven't gone into building this yet, if you did, I hope there are people interested, since it seems a nice bunch of features. Personally this doesn't really do it for me, but I'm a developer myself and have my own system. I do think the transport manager and the notifications via email/sms are a nice touch.

Very Blue,
Not sure how much this helps you, but I'll post it anyhow.
In general, I would be interested in something like this providing:
1. I could install it myself (php/mysql)
2. Easy implementation of additional modules was possible
3. Your community page hooks support SMF 1.x and 2.x (and basically, your app would reg/unreg as a cron'd process checks api as well as assign what group in SMF based on role/title)
And idealy (for me) it would also have the following ability:
4. Some kind of CMS/Wiki to display lots of content pages in an organized fashion to corp members.
5. A public (front) page
But I could possibly handle those last 2 items myself.
What's it worth to me? That's difficult to answer. I can say there was someone selling something kind of like this with phpbb (required) integration for about 1b isk if I remember right. Not sure how many he sold, but I feel it's way to much. You'll move more (and make more) imho if the price is lower. (Don't get me wrong. 1b isk is what, $60-70 or something. Thats not much for your time and I realize that)
Of course, then alot of people compare this stuff to OOE (Out of Eve) and it's free.

Edited by: Commodore Caine on 03/07/2011 19:11:38 What he said (features... wiki would be a nice addition indeed).
I'd probably not pay more than 20 bucks in hard cash for it, but something like 250-750 mill isk as a one off fee, maybe an addition 100-200m isk a year if there were regular updates/fixes/enhancements.
Hosting this myself would be a requirement actually, so a software package would be ideal.

Thanks for the great honest feedback. A current user of mine mentioned that people respond to pretty pictures, so I finally got around to putting up some screenshots.
The informational site is still very much under construction, but I'm rapidly approaching the moment where I will be comfortable accepting a few corporations into another beta round.
Please check out the screenshots here and let me know if this looks worth your $$ or ISK. I'm undecided what direction to take this. I definitely think there will be the service option (monthly fee?) and self-install option (one time licensing cost? upgrade costs? free support?).
