This might have something to with the fact that what they are doing is insane. Then discovering that their financial books look fairly dire. Then going "Lightbulb - Maybe they are so desperate because of the financial out look that they are willing to do crazy things".
Context is important, and while the revelation does not mean we all forgive or condone the actions, it does call for a re-evaluation of the severity. This at least seems to explain why they've adopted a screw-the-customer-for-every-last-dime stratagem. Its not simply an exercise in "we do because we can, but because we have to". Or at least partially.
We don't want Eve to die just as much as we don't want to get bent over for the privilege of its continued existence.

I don't have a spying eye into CCP's accounting books, but I wouldn't be surprised if trying to tackle Dust and WoD at the same time was too ambitious for their wallets. I've seen this happen to too many companies. They tried to grow faster than their checkbooks could carry them, relying on loans and promises to investors that they'd make a good return for their trust.
For the sake of Eve, I hope Dust and WoD are successful, otherwise they'll probably have shutter the windows and call it quits. Thankfully, Eve is not BF Heros. CCP has a decent cashflow from Eve already just from subs and PLEX sales.

I'd want a preffered stock or a bond offering for me to invest but if they need money quick
I'd buy a $100 "Our customers are bailing us out T-shirt" from them right now if they'd pledge another 2 years of the incarna stuff being optional and wouldn't sell any game advantage outside of the current $>plex>isk method that should allow anybody needing an edge to buy it without creating shadow economies in the game and the urge to spend resources and steer game play towards $ for game asset purchases.

Owners mite be preparing to sell company. Somehow latest events all together gave me this impression. Companies usually start to market themselves with newsletters, flyers. They try to pump their number of customers even it is short term boost, they try to show their bright future, plans, technology or future products. They usually care less long term impact on sales or consumer base and take action for favor of temporarly hikes.

Good Christ in heaven
You morons think you're running the company now. If you had a piece of paper saying you actually did own a miniscule part, I believe there would be actual physical violence between you all.
Then again, might make for some interesting stories on the evening news.
OK. On second thought.
Sure. I'm in.

I'd buy shares. But then I'd probably start demanding they add gold ammo and raise the price of monocles. Fun is one thing, business is something else.

Well, when you're a shareholder, it's all about the money.

Make that Icelandic laws since Iceland is not a member of the European Union.
Maybe in some schemes US citizens would be locked out - but that happens all the time and is essentially their own problem with their own strange laws. |

As others have previously said, it can't be done. It would be limited to 499 "qualified investors" ie net worth of 1M USD + or 3 years of 200k+ income for US investors. EU has similar rules which I don't know as well. Otherwise only through an IPO could the general public be able to purchase shares. How many qualified investors do you really think play this game and would be interested?

Heck, I'd buy a CCP bond if it was suitable for framing (and if bearer bonds were still legal in the US).

You've put a lot of time and money into it. In a way, you feel a certain amount of ownership. Wouldn't it be nice to actually OWN and have a true voice as a voting stock holder of the very thing you love?
CCP, you could raise the money you need by selling stock to us, the players. As a result, we would have a say in what happens at CCP as a voting block and would help you with a cash infusion that you obviously need. I think most of us know that you're strapped for cash due to the development of WoD and Dust. Have to admit, you bit off a little more than you could chew, but we can help.
Sell 280,000 shares of your company for $50 USD/share. I personally will commit to buying 8 shares of your company at that price. I'd bet you have enough players who'd be willing to buy at least 1 share to sell that many shares and be able to raise $14 mil USD within 2 months. Then you can advertise being one of the ONLY player owned MMO in the industry.
Sounds like a much better idea than coming up with ideas that drive your customers away rather than bringing them into the fold, doesn't it?
I called for this very thing when this all kicked off, shame no one was listening then....

I can see it now:
In today's news, CCP is purchased by players. In a unanimous shareholder vote, ships will now be pink and say "hello kitty" on every flat surface.

How is it that some of the people who have been on the sinking ship vote are now interested in buying stock for a company they supposedly think is doing horrible?

they want to own it to force it to change his direction, and avoid the sinking.

Unfortunately when peoples blood is boiling, about overheating GPUs, Monocle Costs, No real content to CQ! Good ideas will be trampled upon!
But now is the time to float this.

Honestly though, I don't know the laws but I would rather own a part of CCP for 100$ and know changes are being made to improve the game, rather than keep the 100$ and have the company act in the interest of non-player investors.

People aren't mad because they think the company is doing horrible people are mad because they think the management is making a huge ****ing mistake. There is a difference.
People don't really want to lose the game that they've invested their time and energy in for years so they're trying to figure out someway to talk CCP down from their the edge of their own destruction.
Personally I've already given up the game that I was most passionate about before I even started EVE. I'm mostly just enjoying the show at this point it's not often that one has access to entertainment of this quality.
