Hello all, For the last couple of weeks, we have been conducting the second round of beta tests for our new forums <https://testforums.evegate.com/>. The feedback we have received has been tremendously helpful, and we are grateful to those of you who have taken the opportunity to help us with the beta test. We have decided to extend the test until July 8, 2011, at which time we will close the beta test forums. Originally, we had planned to close the test forums much sooner, and wanted to deploy the new forums over the final week of June, however, we feel that doing so at this time would be detrimental to the ongoing discussions regarding both CCP and the current state of EVE Online. WeÆve been listening to and following your concerns and criticisms closely, and do not want to risk disrupting the flow of discussion by opening new forums. We plan on deploying the new forums in August. Until then...

Good decision about delaying the rollout. The new forums are worth the wait The Union of the Snake [SNAKE]

Thank you, Fallout, for acknowledging that even if doing so was previously planned and the new forums are perfect, this just may not be the time to switch over to the new forums and lock down the old. Doing so during this somewhat delicate period may have reflected poorly, even if not intended, to those players who are wearing tinfoil hats (or monocles).
This is a point in the favor of "there's no great CCP conspiracy to stifle or hide all dissent against the great things coming Soon(tm)!" And possibly one of the better decisions made over the past week and a half. On the one hand, the emorage will continue... on the other hand, there's one less thing to rage about and the actual constructive discussions can continue.

A wise decision to delay but frankly I see no need for new forums, money spent developing them should of been spent on other things I believe.
I do applaud you realizing that if you wiped the forums in the next few days that you'd face a massive backlash just like SOE suffered when they wiped their forums during the NGE debacle in 2005.

We are closing the test forums on the 8th. We are not opening the new forums as the default forums until August.

The forums we use now severely lack not only basic features modern forums have (e.g. search), but barely have tools that work from the Community Management perspective (e.g. the delete thread button doesn't actually delete threads).
When we do move over to the new forums, we'll be keeping this instance open for a few days, and then archiving the material so that no data is lost.

Edited by: Smoking Blunts on 29/06/2011 19:00:36 looking at the new forums, something they lack is the ability to actually read them for more than 5 mins with out a headache. see there has been vast improvments over the old new forums... oh wait they are the same painful ones you guys had to pull down last time, way to go on improving them. if i have any accounts left when they go live, no forums for me.

as far as i am concerned if the new forums do not change their window size they are a waste of time. I like the big open windows of this forum and the new one looks crap with a tiny little text area.

the new forum lack some basic features of modern but even old forums, like color text for example... will these things will be usable on august when it goes live ? will some change from the feedback will be made before it goes live ? cause we all remember last try ; not even there was the security hole, but there was also no modifications at all between test and live one >_<

Yes there is a tab added to the web site menu that says archived forums. When the forums got deployed last time that is how it worked.

what about the feedback received on this test run?
it would be nice to see somebody from the team responsible to come up with a blog saying what will change and whatnot, based on this run's feedback. ---

Can we assume that since CCP is now recognizing it has made mistakes in ingnoring the playerbase, that they have listened to the many complaints about their decision to not import the many years of current posts, and are going to do so?
Especially since you have a bonus two months to work on it, how much players want that to occur, and of course how much you care about our requests and opinions.

It was pushed back to keep threadnaughts on the forum that will eventually be killed, nice work ccp. __________ I can tell you that this is one of the moments where we look at what our developers do and less of what they say.
