I've been training for a logistics ship for the past few weeks, I should be in a nice fit by October. I'll be using this fit: http://eve.battleclinic.com/loadout/29821-The-ULTIMATE-Dual-Basilisk-Setup.html
I understand that to use all of those Shield Transporters you'll need to pair up with another logistics ship and transfer cap to one another. Should I be worried about going with a Basilisk, as I have heard they are less popular than other Logistic ships. Will it be okay if I pair up with say a Scimitar? Or would I need to find another Basilisk with that exact fit? |

There are two distinct categories of logis.
One is the cap-chain logis GÇö Basilisk and Guardian. The other is the tracking-support logis GÇö Scimitar and Oneiros.
The former are used in (at least) pairs to generate the cap they need to keep all their reppers (and cap transfers) running; the latter are more geared towards single-ship deployment and have slightly better inherent ability to keep themselves fed with cap, since they do not get any of the cap-transfer bonuses.
The cap chain logis don't specifically need another cap-transfer logi (much less one that is an exact copy), but they do need another ship with a cap transfer module. You could technically mount those modules on any kind of ship, but it won't be nearly as effective as if it's another cap-transfer logi (and since those other ships won't have the same range as the logi, they have to stay much closer to the actual fight, which is often considered A Bad Thing).
Mixing logis is usually not a good idea, simply because each one is best complemented with the same kind: if you're flying an armour fleet, you want Guardians or Oneiroses GÇö one or the other, depending on how independent you want each logi to be and depending on whether the rest of the fleet will be needing the extra cap. The same situation exists in shield fleets with Basis and Scimis. Mixing a Basi with a Scimitar like you suggest would mean mixing a self-sufficient logi with one that needs external support that the self-sufficient logi can't provide. Again, this doesn't mean that the ships need to be exactly the same GÇö it just creates a symmetry that is easier for the pilots (and FCs) to remember and manage GÇö and even then, it's only really the reppers-to-captransfers ratio that needs to be the same (usually 4+2 or 5+1, depending on what the fleet is expected to need). GÇ£If you're not willing to fight for what you have in GëívGëí you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.GÇ¥

Long story short: you'll want another Basilisk.
To expand a bit, there are two divisions in the Logistics line which breaks it up into four fundamentally different ships. The first is obvious: shield versus armor. The second is what you're actually asking about: cap stable or cap transfer-bonused. Basilisks and Guardians get bonuses for cap transfer that let them generate cap out of thin air. However, this means they usually work in pairs (see below for the obvious question here). On the other hand, the Oneiros and Scimitar are pretty much set on being cap stable on their own and get bonuses to tracking links instead of cap transfer.
So... could you pair a Basilisk with a Guardian? Sure, it would work from a cap transfer perspective. But usually this is pants-on-head stupid because most groups are going to either be armor or shield tanking but not both.
So... could you ever run a solo Basilisk? I'll leave this here and link you to the fit and not even touch the argument itself with a 10 foot pole. |

Thanks for the responses. Looks like I'll watch out for shield tanking fleets then if I want to make use of my ship. |

We don't run Logis much, but I still love that fit. :)

The problem with the Basilisk is that it's a subpar PVP fleet logistics ship. You'll see them a lot in shield Incursion fleets because of cap stability (when getting transfers), but if you're going to do shield PVP the Scimitar is the only logistics ship worth using.
Basilisks are too slow to boot, have a large sig, and if you're doing cap transfers you will be using an afterburner, not a MWD. Shield fleets tend to be composed of faster-moving ships and the Scimitar is fast enough to keep up, has a small sig and excellent resists. As long as you can kite scrams, webs and neuts you're pretty much unstoppable with a Scimitar.
On the other hand, the Guardian and Oneiros are both widely used. Guardians are very tanky, and can keep up with afterburner AHAC gangs. Oneiroses are flown like Scimis, just not as quickly.
So while I understand you want to fly the Basilisk, don't expect to use it much in a PVP environment. You'll be better off getting Minmatar Cruiser V. |

I wasn't planning on using it for PvP, but this raises another question. Will I be able to find fleets that will accept me? I'm aware that most Incursion fleets these days are shield fits, so I should be okay right? |
