Yeah I agree.
The only use for killboards is to boost low self esteem.
People were more interested in having a good time, even when losses hurt your wallet MUCH more, rather than the goal being impressive killboard stats.

This TBH...although more often than not it was and is "unfinished content".
I fear for EVE, because it seems that the days when all CCP wanted to do, was make a ball busting, harsh muther of game, have long gone...

I think Apocrypha was the last truly AWESOME expansion, it gave us W-space and T3.
Too bad it hasn't been expanded on since. ----- There's nothing Noble about this Exchange! Money for pixels and pink ships for free. |

Eve was the most awesome game ever until about 4 days ago, now there is the remote possibility it may contain something unpopular at some unspecified point in time maybe. Its now cancer, ethnic cleansing and the ebola virus all rolled into one huge ball of whine.

Guess your replying with a alt because if this is your main then you don't really play the fun parts of the game such as pvp.
The fun part about this game is being evil, doing pirate stuff. Get out of highsec for god sakes you carebear, grow some balls, go to lowsec, ruin your sec status, go to 0.0, then W-Space, Frak morals kill people, take peoples stuff...
"like billions worth in ships after you pop somebodys failstar after they self distruct most of their ships in fear behind the shields as you and your friends kill their tower before they finish. Pop them back to highsec in the ****bubble cage you bought to trap them or make them flee in fast cloaky ships and get trapt in w space only to pod themselfs back home. Steal their system."
Have fun with friends really is what its all about. If your alone in the game, you can easly get board. I been playing for 4 years. The game has only gotten better. Nothing awesome you say, man are you dense. You prove to me that you don't play this game much. I play it all day every day. In order to really enjoy this game you need to do it all if thats even possible.
I use to be a mission runner, I do pi, I use to do incursions, I use to mine, I build T2 stuff, I have flown almost every ship in the game and can fly, I trade, I explore, I pvp mostly now adays, I am a pirate again thats 3 times but this time its for good, I use to do every industry part of the game, I have lived in w-space a few times for days, I will live in w-space for months now.
I have lived in 0.0 several times for many months. After you get out of carebear mode your 1st year and really get out and play in dangerous space its so much more fun. Missions are for noobs, sleepers are way better so are incursions best rats ever in eve you should meet them sometime. Wait that might be too dangerous for you.
CQ is pretty neat imo. But I guess it melts your computer from 2003 right. I'm sure you make a great form warrior all these 5 years but I can't find anything that proves you actually take risks and pvp. So you really don't play the game and PVP is mainly what its all about besides the sandbox. And you can do or be anything you want in this game. Maybe we will suicide gank mission runners sometime.
I can't wait to scan down them unprobeable mission runners in lowsec when I'm back in lowsec. Love how they nerfed the unscanable ships. Now they are scanable so more sweet tears. This game is about teamwork, you can hardly do anything alone by yourself, so get some friends. I had friends since 2007, when I left to try different corps I made more friends but it wasn't the same.
Ever since I rejoined my old corp with all my old corp friends its been a blast. Should have always stuck with them since they do great small gangs and always get a lot of kills. If i stuck with them I'd have 3k kills like some of them vets. I have around 1k kills. But I have just about done it all in this game. Its always been fun. I have been on the side of good sometimes, I have mostly loved the darkside and after that year I always did ebil things. Like steal from corps to letting lose and never looking back. lol Ratting is boring atleast sleepers are worth your time if you have little of it.
But whatever mate... just get out in the game more. You have to take risks to feel this game to really FEEL it. Can't do that in highsec all day hugging the stations and complaining about how your geforce 5500 is melting to modern graphics. You do realize that DX9 is a very old system for graphics. They are kind of at DX11 right now with cards that laugh at eve on max settings, tho its quite impressive that they push the limits of DX9 in this game all the time. Nothing a 2 year old card can't handle.

I do agree eve would be a fun game if you could play it all day everyday. I think CCP did a great job for people like you. But not everyone can do that. CCP could make eve much better for people who can't play it all day every day.

Come on y'all, quit *****ing and moaning. Bunch of grown men on the internet and all of a sudden everyone's a drama queen...
This game kicked ass today and it will every day for a long time. What other MMO will let you make a career out of ****ing in real people's hard earned cheerios and then post an ascii art ***** in local to drive it home? Punish people for being stupid? Get punished for being stupid? Manipulate varied, high volume, intricately interdependent markets used by thousands of players and governed the same laws that apply to the real world?
Yeah, microtransactions in the form of awesome ships and mods would ruin that. Can you guys wait till it actually happens to throw a ***** fit, please? - NEVER PVP SOBER. |

Before capitals, sov warfare, alliances and quick-jump regional gates. It took an entire evening getting from caldari space to amarr, like 60+ jumps. 0.0 alliance held space was really a huge stack of cans at safe points (corp hangers) between groups of corps and all pvp was just roaming groups via gates, no jump bridges.

Criliere system ... probably late 2003? right before cloaks came out. Big event... joint gallente/caldari research station being built... one day... Concord went nutz and started attacking everyone that entered the system. fortunately concord didn't have battleships yet ;)
I remember the rogue jovian general that dropped the first t2 bpos ( miner II's ) when he was finally hunted down and killed by a swarm of player battleships ( no caps yet in game then )
I remember fitting Cruise missiles to my Kestrel :)
I remember when folks would deploy minefields outside starter stations immediately after downtime...
I remember having 8 drones ( or was it 10 ) with my thorax
I remember battleship afterburners on cruisers with no penalty to agility or acceleration.
I remember 4x MWD on my Typhoon and traveling faster than 1AU without using warp drive... and the 10+ minutes it took me to coast back to a manueverable speed after firing them in rapid succession.
I remember tanking Concord in hi sec systems while dealing with ore-thieves in the proper fashion
I remember when gates did not have sentry guns. anywhere.
I remember ( in beta ) when there was no autopilot and people would pay you very good isk to haul something 40 jumps for them b/c noone wanted to arse with it.
I remember live events in-game sponsored by CCP, they were often fun.
I remember when we roamed in gangs, not fleets.
Mostly though I remember watching as gradually, over time, many of the easy sources of income were "fixed" and many of the fun sandboxy things were reigned in more tightly, and parts of eve got safer and safer, and non-consensual pvp got more and more difficult to do.
Eve is still fun, but in the beginning it was wilder, less regulated, and less populated so the term "blob" back then applied to a gang of 5 battleships. The ccp employees and volunteers were in the game, communicating with the players, and it was a better place for it.

I remember... seeing a battleship at a gate (there were only 5 in game at the time) and just being awestruck as it lumbered by my lil' rifter.
Awesome was EVE as a true sandbox and players building empires...and tearing them down...
Ragnar's Hat comes ta' mind.
Awesome was CCP freaking out at things like jet can mining and the rise of actual alliances without a single ingame tool to support such things.
There was a dream and it was EVE.
Now we get cartoons stumbling in a cabin and monocles.

It's all about the people you know. The only corps/groups I ever see succeeding are corps that: -Know each other IRL (closed recruiting) -Have been around for many, many years (closed recruiting OR a clique with the only recruits being cannon fodder)
Anything else is doomed to fail through trust issues. And basically, if you can't be a member of the elite group of either of these types of corp, you will never really have fun in EVE. So in short, know the right people - and if you don't already, just do yourself a favor and quit - EVE will never be awesome for you.

The politics etc set Eve well above the others.
It has flaws but the scale of the game is something else.
I played for 3 years when it came out then didnt play for 6 years and didnt have a clue how to play, its that big.

The game agrees to entertain on multiple level:
- personal = skill progression, pvp acumen - family = take head phones off incase of adult verbal, fly ships and ask kids where the fuel cap is, where the flight deck is, where do the cats live? Watch them tell me in detail - social = some of the best moments of my life playing games have cone from unlikely places ( nervous scout, tank failing supercap pilot) - visuals = some mighty nice textures pulled tight over some mighty nice polygons - solo = lore, albeit shoehorned in to fit technical limitations and explain things like warping faster than light, through planets, fun and rich - professionally = API and all you can eat database dumps allow for my to tinker when I have the creative urge
The game has it's rough patches *boot.ini* and other unfortunate issues, but when you weigh it reasonably it's worth the subscription fee
If all you do in it is mine or pvp while sat alone in your mums basement, you're not really experiencing Eve to the full :-)
Eve is the giving tree to someone like me
Apparently to you, it's wasted entirely. Sort of like a Michael Angelo painting hung over the potty

It was still awesome two years ago in Apocrypha when I started playing, but Dominion, Taranis, Incursion and now Incarna have totally ruined what the game was. CCP have made so many little things better but they are systematically amputating all of the main limbs which made the universe such an amazingly immersive place to be.
Everything now is designed to be easier and dumbed down, learning skills removed, T3 ships that are quick to get into and do it all, anomalies, racial attributes done away with, FW dead, systems swap hands every few weeks depending on supercaps, homogenisation of agents, massive unchecked proliferation of botters, probes on scanner, fewer and fewer opportunities to scam.
Now it's all about how pretty your character is and it'll soon be all about buying your skills and ships straight from the store. We're in the death throes of the best game I've ever played, that's for sure.

Eve was fun for a about a year and a half. But unless you can dedicate your life to it its not great. It takes way too much time to find decent pvp.
Maybe someday after WOD and Dust are finished CCP will work on this.
