The one easy action they could take that would not only prevent the meltdown of video cards and satisfy a number of player requests (bringing back the old hangar view), is the one they refuse to do.
Typical, CCP.
I don't give a damn about the in-game bling. Forcing me to use the CQ will not make me buy any of that crap.

Well, I can't blame the CSM, I really think they did their best. They'll continue tomorrow. Let's hope that their best ideas for tomorrow's approach will come when they are alone in their hotelroom. That's what usually happens.
But yeah, looking at that f'ing static door image is really annoying and CQ is not an option for more than 1 account.
(Having fun yet, Epeen? )

Yeah, it's a make or break issue for me unless there is a really huge technical issue with it.
It would be a statement that we're not being shown the door and
--- that if their new content isn't good enough to lure players by its goodness it's not good enough
--- inconveniencing players for the point of inconvenience to steer them towards possible MTs is a fundamental failure and really, the point why this all might be hopeless...

The reason that CQ will never be optional in the sense most of us want has already been stated. If you're not forced to look at spacebarbies with stupid hats and $1000 pants, then you have no motivation to partake in the activity and send them money yourself.
Looks like it's going to be another :riot: weekend, given the question anyone cares about is being held off for tomorrow, Friday, which is the best time to say things people don't want to hear. |

To all those lolhopefulls that expect the CQ to be dropped for their old hanger. Think again.
Incarna is the underpinnings of their Microtransaction strategy, if they make it optional, they would be giving the option to not have MT's in their face.
MT's are here to stay, as a revenue boost (and probably a big driver in features as we have seen) for CCP (notice I didn't say Eve).
Optional Incarna is NOT going to happen.
As for the overheating, they can reduce the details in renderings, they can also debug the game render loop, perhaps it is doing something too frequent or something extra it shouldn't. That is why they asked for the dxconfig dumps so they can try to reproduce the issues. it could be the pipelines on some chips that they havn't accounted for or something in their shader code.
But Incarna is NOT going to be OPTIONAL EVER.
NEX is the main driver for Eve now.

Thats enough for me. No interest whatsoever in WIS or being forced to load the environment, I'm a spaceship not a ken doll. The last 7 years has been great fun and I'll miss a lot of people but the game is going where I do not wish to go. The last of my 8 accounts expires in 4 days.

It's worth taking into account here that Trebor's blog was written in the context of his recent tweets - i.e that no specific details would come out until the meetings were complete.
That's why its short on detail and a broad overview only.

I agree, .... not against the idea of optional mt's but that decisions are being made around them.
even with the non vanity items, if another form of boost on top of implants etc would have made sense to them to have in lp stores or seeded stations for isk(like books) then the idea might stand on its own .... but when the motiviation to introduce that sort of thing is extra $ the choices of what is and isn't good for the game are going to be different
My exact stance - bravo that man.

Lol @ peace talks.
Calling them peace talks implies that both sides want a peaceful resolution.
One doesn't need to spend very much time on these forums to realize that is an impossibility.
CCP wants to make their game more accessible and the rabble want to keep their comfy status quo.
Somebody is going to be disappointed. Can you guess who?

I was expecting CCP to concede at least this much, but apparently not.
This is CCP saying "We are willing to sacrifice immersion, usability and client performance to improve virtual goods sales. We could integrate the old and the new in a way that all players would appreciate, but we can probably squeeze more money out of them this way, so this is the way we've chosen."
CCP is clearly prioritizing virtual goods sales over improving or maintaining the quality of game experience for paying subscribers.
I hope the CSM really hammered this point home and voiced their displeasure with CCP's decision on this issue. CSM should regard this as CCP's strike two. (Strike 1 occurred before the Summit, with the Incarna launch itself, Fearless and their inadequate dev blogs.) It looks to me like CSM has rolled over on one of the two major issues the players have, and I don't understand why the most important issue was scheduled for Day 2.
I'll hold out final judgment until the summit is over and we can hear on the results directly from CCP and CSM themselves, but so far it's not looking good at all.

Day 1 : No optional CQ, more forced Incarna and the NEX store is here to stay.
Yeah, nice waste of time. Didn't expect much anyway, so I'm still in the process of running out of time, then it's bye bye EVE.
Let's see how Day 2 turns into an excuse fest for having overpowered ammo, ships and others available for Aurum only. Can't wait. |

Just sounds like the usual smoke and mirrors CCP put up as their defence for any critic.
CSM: Listen! We have several major concerns regard... CCP: Look at these new CQs from other races! CSM: Ooooohhhh..wait what were we talking about again?!..i dunno...

Before this emergency CSM summit is over it would behoove CCP to strongly consider adding an option to board your ship in the hanger or default to ship spinning and have an exit to captain's quarters button.
Being forced into captain's quarters when docked is a very bad change and other than a number of new bugs introduced, the worst thing about incarna.

while I agree Miilla that to many of us its obvious the direction this has taken (forced CQ in order to produce MT) I think its also safe to say that the way Incarna was presented for the first few years was certainly that it was optional. So no, I dont agree with you that people are "thick" if they didnt conclude based on the past couple of week of events that CQ would be mandatory.
I do believe however that many of the players havent fully grasped yet that this is the first time that CCP has openly displayed such a disgregard (and even disrespect)for the player base, and if successful, will only increase
