Edited by: Runa Sigrun on 01/07/2011 05:33:49 Lets face it eather for or against CCP, in the last couple weeks there has been some major PR blunders. Like the now infamous leaked letter; or the hot button topic of RMT transfers and "pay to win" and the fail dev blogs; the hordes of moaning and complaining people are doing about CQ and so forth, just to name a few. So with everything going on will ccp ever recover from the latest PR issues, what do you all think?
honestly I think they may but it will take a while, right now I am just sick of all the moaning and whining that is taking place. (keeping in mind these people are only a small minority but some of the most active forms users it seems)

Actually I am hopeful.
Them putting off the forum wipe during the emergency gives me some hope that they have learned something.

Is that like the vocal minority as SOE claimed in Nov 2005? Never underestimate the power of the vocal minority.

Outside of the people still blathering about quitting, no one will remember this in another week.
The ****ing Tsunamis in Japan were off the news within a week. This is some rinky dink niche video game. Nobody cares.
Think about it.

Did CCP ever recover from t20?
I don't think that the t20 scandal affects their ability to get new players into the game today but on the other hand older eve players will never forget about it (and will pass on this view to he newer players they can reach).
EVE has a really long history of CCP ****-ups - dev favoritism, rigged Aurora events, horribly broken patches/expansions, ... this episode will just be one of them and eventually become part of eve culture/tradition.

yes,
those of us that think of the mmo's as something more like a hobby or a club are outnumbered by those that want to spend some money quick enjoy something and move on..
probably is more money in taking a few hundred bucks from more people over a few months than a steady 15 to 30 from less for 4 or 5 years

It's a growth crisis, they were growing the wrong way. They can always make a pause and stop future development until they get a better vision. Eve doesn't need 50k players it was working under 10k.

even if they have a "Postive" response to the CSM meeting, I think overall Eve has ended it's postive cycle and enters into the slow death phase of a a game's lifespan.

Every failure is a change for new success.
If CCP manages to change and harness the passion and power of the community, then CCP will be in a better and stronger position than ever before!
Such united outcry is unrivaled in the gaming community. If CCP really listens (and not just cosmetic changes) and thinks about what the community said (excellence, dedication, honesty etc.), they will set a glorious example and attract many more good folks to EVE. |

If CCP are honest and just fix what they've done then they'll do fine and be better for it, if they act arrogant and just snub the playerbase they'll be just another boycotted SOE.

this past week, the team at Perpetuum had to deal with a sudden influx (hmm, i wonder why...) and their server couldnt handle it. in response to the crisis, they did several things.
1) they said that the problem was their fault and they should have seen this coming
2) they said sorry and worked overtime to fix the hamsters
3) they gave frequent updates about the status of the problem
4) they fixed it
5) they reimbursed everyone with four days of free gametime, which was about how long the server cap was in effect.
they should now write a book, titled, "5 things to do when you **** up"

Absolutely not, never.
i know it may be hard for some of you younger people to understand but investing years into this game & believing in a company only to be betrayed is not something you recover from.
remember 2 years ago CCP said MT had no place in EvE.
people have spent a lot of time & money on this game only to have the rug pulled out from under them.
if you're sick of the wining I suggest you leave & play something else because you can expect a lot more for some time to come.

No way CCP should get away unscathed for treating EVE, and the EVE players, the way they have for the past few years. Not just the past few weeks - but for years CCP has neglected the game. The past few weeks did nothing but prove that the criticisms that many have laid at the feet of CCP, were true.
Personally, I am one of those who believe that someone should lose their job over there. But, whatever, my accounts are just ticking down. I set a long skill just in case I ever decide to return - but the skill I set was primarily a reminder of myself of why I lost respect for CCP: Starbase Defense V, not exactly a skill that has much relevance in the game these days.

I just googled "rigged aurora events" to find out what you meant.

Yeah. They'll recover. They make a very popular game. Even companies make mistakes, and I think that most of the gaming public knows that. No biggie. -Jest

Honestly, I dont know what people are whining for! The MT does not at this time affect gameplay at all! The items you buy dont affect gameplay at all! Incarna does not change your old gameplay noteworthy at all, since you can still be a spaceship pilot shooting stuff!
OK. if CCP brought in pay-2-win thats not good, but so far, all I have heard this was discussed in a internal memo. Nothing solid! just a debate. And I find raging around a internal working note thats just being tossed around in the office to be simply, well stupid.
Yes, this will be forgotten. Someone will be bound to be grumpy though when their friends brags around with their monocle, but thats fine! I will never be able to brag with a e-peen Titan either! But life goes on! The life in EVE is hard! So grow some balls, and play while you have fun! I do! And I dont plan to let a darn working note or the playerbase to spoil it!
DUH!

That's what everyone is hoping. But I'm afraid what has been seen cannot be unseen again.
Btw - why are you signing every single one of your ****posts with your name? Your big and ugly visage is right next to it, with your name right below. Are you really trying that hard to stand out as the king of idiots within the horde of fail?

Actually you are one of the younger people 2010/02/08.
You weren't around for most of the big crisis's and broken promises and you don't know about them.
Why?
Because there is always another one and the last is forgotten. Something could come up tomorrow that would wipe this whole overblown fiasco from our collective radar as we go on a rampage for the next be crisis.
Like I said, I give this a week. Maybe two. No one will have quit. They never do. And there will be some new EVE is dying drama taking up the boards.
You and I may even be on the same side for the next one
