Level 3 one, was collecting loot, then this dude on a slasher shows up. I instantly close the game. Ship itself isnt worth a million and loot was from level 3 mission, but my implants cost 45mil.
How long dos it take for your ship to leave the game when you click the quit button?

Even if he blows your ship its very easy to get away with the pod... Bad idea to close the game.

Let's put it this way. It takes longer for your ship to log out than it does for concord to respond to hostility.

I hear that (what's left of) the NC are always on the lookout for Titan pilots. You should fit right in with that attitude. ---------------

Edited by: Ehnea Mehk on 02/07/2011 04:35:42 He probably just wanted your salvage, but in one case I had, it was more than that...
One timne, somone scanned down my mission room and took my mission object, a "Stranded Pilot" I was supposed to rescue from a can. The guy tried to ransom me for it, stating I wouldn't be finishing my mission until I paid him. I didn't pay him, choosing to abandon my mission instead and worked on three subsequent ones to bring my agent rating back up. As for the dope who tried to make me pay ransom, he was now the proud owner of a "Stranded Pilot". I wonder how much he got for it on the market?

If you're in hi-sec and not at war, don't worry about it.
People will probe you down, then warp to you and ninja salvage. If they salvage, they won't flag red. If they take the loot from the wrecks, they will flash red.
DO NOT SHOOT THEM, they can't shoot you. Just leave them alone, and forget the wrecks.
A lot of ninja salvagers are PvPers looking to gank mission runners. When you destroy their salvager, they come back in another ship and kill you.

Will Concord respond if you're attacked within deadspace?

This ^ And FFS if you ever get yourself into a no-win situation don't press the "Quit" button! If you're cool, stay and fight; if you panic, then unplug your network cable or turn off the network adapter.

Yes. However once he takes loot from the wrecks, and flashes red: You can shoot him without repercussions / he can't shoot you
Once you shoot him: You can shoot him / HE CAN SHOOT YOU without repercussions

I don't think he came *only* for salvaging, I'm doing quite a few L3 missions nowadays and the salvage items are rarely worth 100k.

Keep in mind that by looking at the mission wrecks, he knows how you're tanked and can shoot at your hole. If you agress in your mission-boat, you will die in a fire. Every time.

You weren't in a pvp situation so there was nothing wrong with staying in mission unless he was a WT.
Logging out during a pvp situation is a bad idea. i discovered this a long time ago when i undocked from a station and my mouse batteries died a second later. There was a small red frig fleet outside and i was in a hurricane. PI couldn;t find any new battaries so i ctrl f4'd byt the time i found some batteries and logged back in i was in a pod, killed by a small frig group :(

Well, he sure as hell is not going to suicide gank you in a slasher. Thing's got no DPS. Once aggressed, an attacker has 5-10 seconds before concord shows up. That's 3-5 gun cycles, depending on what he's using.
If you let the ninjas bait you, and you lose your ship, you really have only yourself to blame. Don't be afraid of them, they cannot do anything to you unless you aggress first.

Only skilled up so far for level 2's. However people saying only worth 100k in salvage don't salvage much then, as I normally get 4-5mil abouts in salvage. (however where I mission I seem to get a very high amount of armor plates which are going for 150k each).
But I found that while I'm skilling up to 3's and 4's, ninja salvaging other peoples lvl 4's brings in more profit than I could ever hope to have in 2's. So I'm mainly doing it just for bankrolling future investments.
But back to the point... what others have said, don't ever just log out. Easy way to lose your pod and implants. If you're really worried of a suicide gank just warp out when they come in. Either way if you get shot up just spam click the warp button and when your ship goes boom your pod will insta-warp before they even get a chance to lock it.

Edited by: Sarmatiko on 02/07/2011 05:14:09 Best way to get rid of typical ninja - shooting all wrecks in the pocket. But I prefer not loot on the missions at all. Just find some good agent with high LP/isk rate and make your money blitzing 3/4 lvl. After that you will forget about looting and salvaging junk.
Don't be a lemming, don't shoot ninja when flying on pimped and unprepared PVE ship, you will definitely lose it. I always wonder how stupid are people that shoot ninjas for 2 mil worth wrecks, and then losing 3 bil worth maradeurs to them.

I got total 19 armor plates in about 20 missions (didn't count exactly).

Your ship aligns, warps, and then disappears at 1,000,000km away. If you have aggro, it sits at the 1,000,000km point until aggro wears off, then disappears. I'd have just stuck around if it was hisec. If he shoots you, Concord pops him. If you're in a destroyer or something, fit some armor plates or some shield expanders. Just sit there and watch him go boom.

How I handle ninja salvagers: Leave a few pirate ships alive until you are finished salvaging. If someone warps in to salvage from your kills then just warp out and they will be targeted and leave. I've at the most had to do this a few times with even the most pesky and stubborn thieves.

Or, if your ballsy, RR fit and RR them (not considered and aggressive act by Concord). They instantly are tagged and the NPCs in the mission can pop them.

Right-click a wreck and select "Abandon all nearby wrecks". Prevents anything dumb happening.
Some will leave if they only came for PvP.
Also sometimes works as a distraction so you can grab the mission objective while they are stuffing their cargohold.

You can't abandon mission objective loot. If you abandon all wrecks, the mission loot stands out like a sore thumb.

If you're hyper-paranoid, align first, then pop them.
