From a player who just did his dissertation on this briliant public relations stunt, CCP, i f***ing salute you.
And P.T. Barnum was hunted with torches as well at some point... so this phase is only natural.
I wish i knew who was the original person behind this. Pure genius.

You did your dissertation on something just over a week old? Either you fail at being clear or you fail at knowing what a dissertation actually is.

Edited by: Coffe''s Babe on 02/07/2011 08:36:32 One case study out of 3 was this one. It also had the most relevance and "awesomeness" level. For that they get my thanks.
And trust me, i got an A on the oral presentation. (yes, bring the jokes) Now all that's left is the final grade which i doubt will be any different

I think its talking about high school.
Which is why I said he fails at knowing what a dissertation was.

Amazingly, I'm neither from the USA nor in highschool. Try uni ASSumers.
I fully know what a dissertation is and the lack of you people having one does not mean it's not feasible for an eve player.
And we're discussing CCP's briliance not my academic qualifications.
(to the person that asked for it. as soon as i get home from work i'll upload the pdf version somewhere - it's "Rhetorycs and Means of Comunication in Online Virtual Realities - Advertising Tehniques" )

I think she read a book, the thing about management type books, read them by all means but don't take them as gospel.

No little troll, i don't.
After carefully considering explaining and justifying myself to you, I decided not to. For someone who hunts threads for spelling errors (made by people after a 18 hr shift) you already got more attention than you should have.

Why are you posting on the forums after an 18 hour shift? Sleep would be more appropriate.

Well you got me interested.
I wonder how the in Online Virtual Realities works in case of CCP though. And isn't it a bit soon to draw conclusions from CCPs brilliance even though the initial fallout would indicate fail what the long term implications are has yet to be found out. I hope you also included in you dissertation the involvement of non CCP parties in this communications break down that played a very big part in creating it and maximizing its impact.

I'm guessing its British and doesn't know that to the greater world a dissertation is something one works on for years to earn a PhD, not some half-assed term paper during undergrad studies.

Having some knowledge of events, people and the history surrounding them, given the angle you've taken, and the implications you've ignored. My guess is your assertions are mostly short-sighted and incorrect.

Bolded the relevant part.
+1 for expressing opinion
The recent move CCP made served as an anchor for the conclusions i drew at the end of the paper. "The ending" would have been less empyrical due to lack of relevant case studies.

I question the quality of the OP's educational institution. I sincerely hope that you didn't write the dissertation for Acacia Community College.

Either the OP is a troll, placing mistakes that would be obvious to anyone with at least a college level education, and just screwing with everyone stupid enough to take them seriously...
OR
I feel very VERY embarrassed for him/her

In the UK it tends to be 'thesis' for Phd. Generally 'dissertation' is any piece of junk by arts students (aka the half educated).

Public Relations requires the clear communication of ideas, you fail at that.

Interesting. In the states dissertations are usually gigantic. I just assumed this person (assuming its not a troll) was mistakenly calling some small undergrad 20-30 page paper a dissertation. I suppose in some places dissertations really are just small reports. 0_o

I would say, from experience, that is the last thing which PR requires. Spin and obfuscion is what is needed to protect the corporate suits.
