Has someone been attacking the loot drops with a nerf bat? It seems over the past couple of days that the pirates aren't willing to carry any cargo anymore. I just had the lvl 4 Vengeance mission (nice mission btw) and only 1 of the 7 battleships dropped a can. The 3 Sansha's Tyrants failed to drop, 2 of the 3 Sansha's Lords failed to drop and the True Sansha's Lord failed to drop also!! On top of that, most of the cruisers failed to drop and anything that was looted was very poor, a lot of basic modules. Is the same happening all over Eve or is it just mission drops that seem to have changed?

the drops in the lvl4's are lower than you would get in 0.0 to appease the argument that theres no risk v reward supposedly........

This I know and understand. However when more than half the rats don't drop anything at all, it may mean me having to mine for some minerals to make the torps I need, and I cannot allow this to happen!!

Loot drops have always been less than spectacular. Most cases it is simply 100 rounds of ammo or some really useless named variant of a basic gyrostabilizer.....why would someone use those instead of the normal gyrostabilizer? Why were they even added in as named versions of the BASIC type, instead of the normal version which would make them usable?
Especially deepspace missions. You can kill a kazillion 100k+ cruisers and get complete and utter rubbish in them.
Lesson learnt for me...dont bother with deadspace loot unless its rogue drones for mins.

I run missions in Empire and I actually agree with the fact that rats there should drop lower quality loot than in 0.0. They SHOULD drop something, even if it's a basic this or a basic that, but I don't expect anything spectacular on a regular basis. Once you refine your loot (I do it once or twice a week) it actually makes some nice isk.
One thing that is a fallacy though is saying that mission runners in 0.0 run more risk than they do in Empire. Rubbish! Most of the mission runners in 0.0 are deep within an area which is controlled by their own alliance. They are safer than a mission runner in Empire who is in a corp which is at war with another corp in Empire (as no area is controlled and everybody meets up - usually in Rens it seems).

Thats a purely objective statement, 0.0 is safer than low sec empire in many respects, but when your level 4 agent is right on the borders of neutral and regularly patrolled space which you have to venture into to complete missions, it gets somewhat more dangerous. Especially when that space is controlled/patrolled by pirates or enemies who are camping the gate where your blockade mission has spawned.
See where im going with this?

But it's clearly no more dangerous than flying in Empire space with enemy corps floating around here there and everywhere, also, remember that 0.4 - 0.1 are still in Empire too. In that case you get everything, no security in the region/solarsystem you are mission running in and that anyone having a bad day can gank you. I would run missions low sec space (and have) because I will accept the luck of the draw, but I am not prepared to bimble on over to 0.0 so someone sitting at a gate with twenty of his buddies can pop me in 5 seconds. Why would I want to do that?
They should put the high quality agents in low sec space and 0.0 and leave the others in high sec. The difference between low sec and 0.0 should be the loot.

I actually had a surprise yesterday when a cruiser from a lvl3 deadspace mission dropped a 350mm Rail, 100 L Uranium and a siege Launcher.
After this the rest of the drops went back to the usual rubbish.

There is a mordus mission where there is a chance a 100k mordus squad leader warps in as the last wave.A +3 implant would be a REALLY(super) rare drop form it.

Edited by: rockboy on 22/02/2005 22:02:15 that Vengeance mission has the worst... loot... ever..
The 2.5M officer BS dropped a 250mm railgun and a bunch of medium (none of it named) gear. The Guristas War Station dropped exactly the same. I think the best piece of loot out of the whole deal was 1 Siege launcher. For the 10 or 11 battleships in that mission, it was total ****.
No one is asking for Arbalests - just make the loot make sense.
The weirdest thing is that all of the non-Caldari kill missions I get from my Caldari agent have sensible (if sparse) loot.
Has anyone ever seen an explanation for why DS ships drop so rarely? There's just no logic behind it (surprise surprise).
