Yes, I know it is $131.40/year if we pay 12 months in advance. But, we can no longer trust CCP. So we can't do that anymore.
$179.40/year * 3 = $528.20 over 3 years.
And CCP wants more of our money? What are they smoking in Iceland?
I still play games I bought over 3 years ago, that I payed only $50 for.

When you say "we" I assume you mean "I". Not sure why you can't trust them anymore. All of their official statements have been consistent and honest.
You do realise the Eve requires this thing called a "server", quite a big one in fact (or a lot of them, depending on how you visualise it). Servers are not free or cheap to run. In exchange for your $528.2 over three years, CCP maintained and allowed you access to their servers. It's a fair exchange, if at any point you don't feel your getting your moneys worth, stop paying.

I'm paying $262.80 per year and, 6+ years in, still very much worth it.
Better question is, if you don't think so, why the hell are you still paying to post about how it's not worth it?

Can you find the same ammount of fun for cheaper? Chances are, you would spend that much in a month doing most any thing else.

^This.
If there is something cheaper and more rewarding than it might not be worth it to you. If this is cheaper and more rewarding to you than something else then it might be worth it.

1. "All of their official statements have been consistent and honest." I just don't believe for one minute that you are this stupid. I think you just copied the email text sent to you from the inept CCP marketing department.
2. Nice move. I didn't see this angle. The point is that we are paying you this money. But, the old server excuse. Let's answer that.
a. Your infrastructure costs are not nearly $46,482,140 per year. b. You are not spending this revenue on EVE anyway. It is all going to Dust and WOD. In fact the majority of it is, as you are up to your eye balls in dept.

I'll keep this simple for argument's sake.
I spend ú30 a month on EVE on my 2 accounts. Last month, I spent ú120 on 3 console games I really wanted.
EVE is a TON of fun for it's price. Way, Way more value than a lot o other forms of entertainment.

OP, is Eve overpriced? Yes. All mmo's are really. But it's like saying Starbucks is overpriced. Sure, it is, but it's not a lot of money so people who like it buy it. If you don't think you are getting your money's worth, unsub. There are lots of other games out there. Some of them are a lot of fun.

Compare it to what else you can get for those entertainment dollars today and doesn't look expensive at all.
1-2 pint(s) of Ale at a pub. 2 movie tickets per month. Etc.
The twwo week emo-raging on the forums alone trumps just about all movies released this year in entertainment value
PS: What's with the *3 by the way, you hate Eve/CCP so much that you have three accounts?

1. FInd me a discrepancy and I'll gladly back down on that point. I have yet to see any.
2. They aren't allowed to make a little profit? The point is your paying for a subscription costs, which is intend to maintain a service. Anything CCP makes beyond the costs of doing business is their profit do to with as they please. If they wish to invest it back in to Eve (and they do) then even better, but we are in no way entitled to it.

The movie ticket comparison started being pushed by the video game industry years ago (to justify price increases). (You hear this in the press, morning talk shows, radio shows, all very transparent to the non sheep of the world.) You added beer. So I am left with wondering, are you an actual CCP customer? Because, why would one make such a post? You sound more like marketing.
If I can play other games for an unlimited number of years after I pay $50 for them (max), then I should make a comparison to EVE that includes a number of years. I picked 3.
The surest way to get company marketing to start posting in threads is to put a "$" in the subject line.

the value judgment over whether X-amount of money is worth Y is up to the individual. Obviously it largely depends on the individuals disposable income and their level of addiction.

No, we are not entitled to your (CCP) profit. But, we are entitled to the continued existence of Eve Online. Your profit was $5 million a year. Much more then that is being spent on Dust and WOD. So much in fact that once your $10m+ loan comes due in Oct., I don't think you will exist anymore (at least in your current form).
Yes, your extremely bad business decisions have made the EVE populus very ****ed.

Unlimited? What everlasting hardware are you playing this game on that never breaks down and never needs to be updated?
Also, as you continue to play that game many years latter it will offer the exact same experience as the first time you played it. The experience of eve today is very different from when it was released. If the quantitative and qualitative differences are not up to your level of approval then that is your choice to make.

actually no, you're not.
In any case, your original question is pointless. The subscription cost isn't worth it for you, nor anyone who's ever quit for that matter, but for those that are still subbed, then yes it's worth it for them, otherwise they would've unsubbed.

I think he meant singleplayer games or multiplayer games that don't require any intermediary to play online.

You have to work on Sunday? You just keep making marketing posts in all of the threads. It is very funny.
We don't want marketing posts. What we want is the truth. But, I think you know that once we get the truth we are forever gone.
You know when Coke screwed up the CEO went on national TV and apologized to the world. What we want is an apology and a truthful commitment not to convert EVE to MT play. Your customers don't want it and if you can't handle that then we will go somewhere else with our money.

For the Euro-zone it's 1.5 that much: Ç14,95*12 = Ç179,4 = $260.54 (Why does CCP think the Dollar is on par with the Euro?).
Add to this an occasional PLEX for ISK, and in the future another for AURUM this quickly gets towards $400.
Regardless I think it's a fair sum even though I don't play that much - I would gladly pay up to double that if this financed better hardware to reduce lag...
