I stand with the CSM in principle, but your response, Ms. Tree, displays poor impulse control. Politicians don't ***** at their constituents (assuming they want to enjoy continued popular support).
I disagree - I thought he was KIND given the amount of unfounded accusations and overt *****iness directed at the CSM since this whole thing started. And with people like this as constituents...who'd WANT their continuing popular support?

This thread was supposed to be about WHY we lost, but given the (surprisingly?) high degree of controversy over WHETHER we lost, I suppose I should explain what winning would have looked like. Let's see if we can agree on a few facts:
For the last 8 years, EVE has been a sandbox game about Internet Spaceships and a player-driven economy with a steep learning curve and requiring a long time investment from its players/customers.
EVE has always run on low-end computers. Even by players running multiple accounts, a practice which has been encouraged in both game development and marketing by its developer, CCP games.
It has an incredible community that pays a high monthly subscription, with the average long-term player paying $50 per month or so (to support the multiple accounts I mentioned earlier.) In exchange for that high monthly subscription, EVE has traditionally offered 2 'free' expansions per year.
EVE has been and continues to be immensely profitable for its developer, CCP Games, which refers internally to EVE as its 'Golden Goose.'
Recent patches and expansions have left countless bugs, exploits, imbalances and unfinished features. EVE (Internet Spaceships) is in a state of utter neglect.
The last patch fried/overheated the video cards of a significant percentage of its customers and makes the game unplayable in multibox mode for a significantly higher percentage of its customers.
CCP Games devotes grossly inadequate financial/development resources to EVE (Internet Spaceships,) focusing instead solely on its 2 new games in development. What few resources it does devote to EVE (Internet Spaceships) are being allocated by someone who has expressed enthusiasm about breaking in-game functionality and selling it back to the players through microtransactions.
Hopefully we can agree on those facts. Now here's what winning looks like (from my perspective:)
CCP commits permanently to making Incarna optional.
CCP commits permanently to keeping $ for GTC for PLEX the only MT in the game.
CCP removes Aurum from the game.
CCP agrees that since we have paid for 2 expansions per year with our inflated monthly subscription, and since this expansion is all about Spaceship Barbies, that they will allow us to play dressup with our Spaceship Barbies for 'free' (since we've already paid for it with our inflated monthly subscription.)
CCP acknowledges that Hilmar's idea to gouge players because he saw a slideshow on the Internets about gouging players in a F2P game doesn't work in the industry's most expensive subscription-based MMO.
CCP restores adequate funding to EVE development (Internet Spaceships.)
CCP regains the respect and trust of its playerbase, and goes on to great financial success from its 2 new games, which can operate on whatever financial model Hilmar dreams up because they are new games with no established precedents/understandings.
That's what winning would look like (more or less). It's a little rough, but give me a week to fly to Iceland and I'd polish it up a bit.
Or just get me drunk and tell me you have no plans to sell non-vanity items in your vanity items store. I'm good with that.

What's your definition of failure? What goals should have been met for the protests to be considered a success?
Even then, your top ten list comes across as just random crud from someone with a tenuous grasp on reality. Dev alts? Seriously? Were they also posting from black NWO computers via secret routers transmitting on dark fiber? Also, Glenn Beck called and wants to remind you that he will be on GBTV in the future.

When people think back to the G20 protests, what do they remember?
Riots, vandals, zealots, mob mentality. What did they actually accomplish?
How will the EvE protests be remembered? Do you really want to play some word association for eve protestors? What did you accomplish? It was stated before the CSM meeting that there were no plans for MT in multiple dev blogs. And after the meeting? No plans for MT.

Just because the majority of players was against non-vanity MT items doesnt mean they did support every stupid whine people came up with.
Speaking for myself, the only thing that I cared about was the issue mentioned above. I couldnt give two ****s about spinning ships, monocles or other such nonsense.
Overall, I'm actually pretty happy with the expansion. Turrets are looking better, QC is kinda low on actual content but still better than looking at a hangar all day, and my 8 year old rig doesnt have heat issues either.
Stop whining, nobody cares about the fart you have stuck sideways tbh.

Incarna optional? Think they've already said the hanger view is not coming back, although they will try to introduce ship spinning, but it's probably not going to be as it was.
MT will come into the game and it'll stay, all people can hope for is that it does just deal with vanity items. There's no reason vanity items should not be purchased through the MT store.
Aurum remains because vanity items do.
Not sure I've seen anything that commits CCP to releasing 2 expansions per year. We can assume that the cost of the expansions are in the sub fees, but have they actually said this is the case.
Hilmar's idea seems to have been called just that, an idea. They distanced themselves from it, so it's unlikely they will pursue that course at least in the short-term.
Don't think you will see a massive improvement with funding to Eve, until at least one of the other projects is up and running and bringing in revenue.
Trust and respect won't be easy to restore, you really should use the CSMs more to communicate with CCP now that you've got CCPs attention.
Actually getting drunk does not sound such a bad idea.

CCP didn't need to get the CSM to Iceland. A simple reply to any one of the threadnaughts would've ended most this, but no, CCP let the drama play out. Maybe just to see how far it would go?
What I'd like to know is who "leaked" these mails in the first place? Surely there were only a certain number of people who were CC'd in the mail? ---------------------------

To expand a bit on CSM's particular failure.
Yes, Mittens is a drunken blowhard who failed miserably, but it's more than that.
CSM failed, imo, because they had the wrong objective.
CSM's objective, imo, was to reach an agreement with CCP.
CSM's objective should have been to extract meaningful concessions from CCP.
The playerbase can give you all the leverage in the world, but if you go to the car dealership determined to buy a car, Hilmar will sell you a car and laugh all the way to the bank. You've got to go to the car dealership prepared to walk away without a new car.
Imagine how awesome this would have turned out if CSM had just said no dice and released a statement saying: 'We would have accepted X, Y, Z but CCP refused to accept ANY of our terms, so we cannot announce today a resolution to this situation.'
Duh. Winning.

We should feel guilty that you had a bad Holiday & forgive you for a s h i t outcome is that it?
Seriously, why even run for CSM if it's obviously such a painful inconvenience to you personally, nobody here want's you to Quote: put my physical health on the back burner for YOUR interests
. Who's interests exactly? Why are you on the CSM? Please GTFO, fraud. How about some CSM who a) aren't whiney *****es & b) consider the interests of all EvE players important!

If you wanted to be somewhere else, that's where you'd be.
Instead "winning" for you wasn't going to spend your time elsewhere, it was to stay here and troll the forums.
The only ones who lose are those who clicked on this thread.

How dare you try and turn this on the player base. You should be disgusted in yourself.
YOU chose to go to the summit. YOU chose to drop everything to save YOUR game of internet spaceships.
Dont sit there and pretend like you were saving the world. The meeting would have gone no different had you been there or not. CCP knew long before they invited you how much they were willing to give and what they wouldnt give.
All we got were a bunch of bull **** statements telling us absoloutely nothing but a bunch of articulated spin that will no doubt see the introduction of a lot of features into the game soon that YOU and CCP decided were ok for the majority of us.

honestly AkJon, I wish you were on the CSM, maybe make White Tree an offer, since S/He is obviously not interested in anything the players want & doing the Job is a risk to his/her health & a massive inconvenience to boot.
I'll be giving all my remaining ISK to you before the 14th, maybe you can put it towards a plex & keep fighting the good fight for me & many others like me.

no one gives a damn about the protest
the thousands of cancelled subs will speak for themselves. Hilmar said it himself, they only care about what we "do", i.e. how many of us quit, not about what we say, i.e. there IS NO collaboration between players and CCP.

I came to the conclusion, mid 'riots', that the protesters and the likes of AkJon and his circle jerk (alts?) are just a bunch of fecking drama queens.
Why you choose to invest so much time and effort in complaining or 'protesting' about something that is supposed to be fun is completely beyond me. How have you not taken a step back and gone... dam... what the hell am I doing with my life?
EVE will evolve however its investors and developers choose. Good or bad, c'est la vie.

I'm not over-entitled at ALL. I'm a customer of the world's most expensive subscription-based MMO. The developer has left the game in tatters and is now trying to squeeze out a few more shekels by charging even MORE money to fix some in-game functionality it plans to break.
Let's see if this analogy helps:
If I go to a pricey restaurant and order (and pay for) steak, I don't expect to be served hamburger helper and then to be charged extra for the ketchup.

The thing is, you did pay for the all-you-can-eat buffet. If there isnt any steak on the buffet, tough luck.

Except you're more than likely to catch typhus from all the meals but you only realize it after reading some of the things people who have eaten there before have written on the walls... also, how are the owners of that metaphorical fancy restaurant suposed to keep their mansions and pay the cleaning ladies if they don't cut back on the beef and charge you extra for condiments ? HOW ?!

A mixture of flight delays, missed flights, lost passports and more just so I could go to Iceland and shout at CCP for 48 hours only to crawl home (I'm STILL not home nearly 72 hours after the summit ended) and I get to come back to people sitting in their diapers crying about how we were 'bought' by CCP. You literally have no idea what you're talking about and I've actually put my physical health on the back burner for YOUR interests and so did the rest of the CSM so just chill out with the endless stream of nonsense you constantly fire at us. We're not superheroes and we made some serious sacrifices to be able to drop EVERYTHING to go to Iceland and hash this out.
We didn't get drunk and we didn't have fun because quite frankly we were too tired, too stressed and too overworked to be able to stop for a moment and consider anyone's concerns other than yours. The same can be mirrored for CCP who were genuinely worried and concerned about the problems the players had. We sat and watched as THE greatest technical achievement the company has ever put forward was perpetually overshadowed by problems. I'm sorry if you didn't get everything you wanted exactly how you wanted it but your entitlements stretch far and beyond their reach so simmer down and think about what you're saying before you say it.
I stand with the CSM in principle, but your response, Ms. Tree, displays poor impulse control. Politicians don't ***** at their constituents (assuming they want to enjoy continued popular support).
White Tree was elected by goons, not the player base, ofc he doesnt need to care about the general player base, 90% of the CSM6 only work in the interest of their 0.0 power-bloc.

You get the right to steak. The ketchup is up to them. You only paid for steak.
