1. MT for vanity items only.
Works for me.
2. CQ optional until some form of the hanger returns.
I can live with that.
3. A promise of better communication from CCP.
Nice just hope it lasts.
4. Proof that even among the HiSec community the EvE playerbase aren't all sheep to be lead to the slaughter and that the CSM is worth a damn.
A victory in and of itself.

Originally by: White Tree If you knew anything about the living hell I've had to go through these last 5 days to get to Iceland and back you wouldn't be spouting what you're spouting now. A mixture of flight delays, missed flights, lost passports and more just so I could go to Iceland and shout at CCP for 48 hours only to crawl home (I'm STILL not home nearly 72 hours after the summit ended) and I get to come back to people sitting in their diapers crying about how we were 'bought' by CCP. You literally have no idea what you're talking about and I've actually put my physical health on the back burner for YOUR interests and so did the rest of the CSM so just chill out with the endless stream of nonsense you constantly fire at us. We're not superheroes and we made some serious sacrifices to be able to drop EVERYTHING to go to Iceland and hash this out.
We didn't get drunk and we didn't have fun because quite frankly we were too tired, too stressed and too overworked to be able to stop for a moment and consider anyone's concerns other than yours. The same can be mirrored for CCP who were genuinely worried and concerned about the problems the players had. We sat and watched as THE greatest technical achievement the company has ever put forward was perpetually overshadowed by problems. I'm sorry if you didn't get everything you wanted exactly how you wanted it but your entitlements stretch far and beyond their reach so simmer down and think about what you're saying before you say it.
LAWL, so u get a paid trip out to Iceland to talk about why ppl are crying about a video game? Give the players you are supposed to represent a video of some Jersey Shore Kid telling us everything is going to be alright, and how tough it has been to talk like men about a game?
Then come on the forums and rip on a OP for giving his opinion like you just hung on a cross for us.
What a joke. Think it is time to shake up the CSM, and put some mature adults.....oh nvm. CCP is smart enough only to use you all as pawns anyhow. What a great way to converse with the player base u are supposed to represent.

Originally by: ALLYOURMONEY BELONGTOUS The post from CCP was nicely done. Well played but I think CCP will still lose customers. People will watch what CCP does and not what they say. I will miss this game. When my sub runs out I will not continue until CQ is optional. Lots of people feel this way and CCP is going to put it on the back burner like everything else. Going to be a pity to lose so many people for something they could have avoided easily.
The option to turn it off exists, and will remain until they have returned ship-spinning to the game.
There's no way they can do that without making CQ optional, I'm guessing you'll dock up normally with a "disembark" button somewhere you can push to enter Incarna.
So, CQ is optional. You back yet?
They are not returning the old hangar to the game, ship spinning could mean anything, the ship spins in CQ now & it sux a dirty a$$.
Are you seriously the worlds most gullible person? Lets say with CQ turned off you get the Information Tab of the active ship instead of the DOORÖ, that's the new feature, viola, ship spinning.
Is that an improvement in your opinion & also it's temporary until they feel we are ready to be forced to use CQ again.
How is this a victory> How?
I'm sorry but i can only assume you are a gullible idiot, there's just no nice way to put it. Soz

The main reason the protest failed was because simple comments demoralised the whole room, I must have got blocked by about 500 people just from saying "you know quitting the game usually involves quitting and not logging in".
Simple harmless comments generated insane amount of tears, then when people got suicide ganked they were crying more
All in all the protests were a joke .

Again read the statement, that's not what is happening. Some form of Ship spinning will return until CCP decides to force you to use CQ again, no return to hangar, no hangar of any kind & definitely no promise of CQ being optional in the future. The absolute opposite actually.
Did you even read the damn thing?
I mean FFS.
PS; AkJon, thanks again for taking the time & thanks for schooling me on a few things here. Everybody in the game could do with reading your post at the bottom of page 3 ITT.

You should be blaming CCP for such a mess they created to your life. How awful having to fly all the way to Iceland just so CCP could make a statement that I could have wrote for them in 10 mins WITHOUT having the CSM fly all the way to Iceland.
You were used to get the player base on CCP side so please dont complain about how hard its been the last 5 days.

Fact is you already have a P2W situation with PLEX. I'm comfortable with that, since it won't ruin the economy and trader / builder playstyles. The day you can buy P2W items in the NEX store circumventing the player-industry it will be the beginning of the end es eve is now, but that doesnt mean it will be necessarily bad either. Probably it will become an action shooter for consoles, which might be fine for some too.
Hopefully for me though some other developer picked up the original eve idea by then ....
EDIT: And I don't care about vanity items. If some people think they can value up their ego when demonstrating liquidity CCP made a smart move to offer what these people need. Epeens.

Even Mittens says something worthwhile on occasion:
Mittens: "Yeah, we got total breakdowns of unsubs and with drill-down data on who and why. That's why I'm saying that this is such a valuable protest tactic for future controversies.
Unsubbing works. I'd say it's safe to resub unless you want an excuse to leave the game - there's no gold ammo or anything. But the players now have a big ****ing stick to beat CCP with, and it's been proven to work."

Edited by: Dorvab Arnst on 05/07/2011 08:37:00 Edited by: Dorvab Arnst on 05/07/2011 08:35:48 Despite what you might think, your protest didnt fail. CCP listened and did alot more to placate all of you children than any other MMO company would have done. Ill liste some of my own reasons I think this protest was stupid, I think that it would be more appropriate:
1. The protest was based on rumour, heresay and speculation of what CCP might do at some point in the future with no confirmation that they would.
2. The protest was lead by a bunch of die-hard veteran trolls that no one in their right mind would take seriously.
3. The leaked "Greed is Good" memo was altered before release to make it look worse than it actually was. The first page of that memo that was removed before release to the 'community' was a disclaimer stating that said memo did not reflect the policies or the mind set of employees at CCP.
4. You failed to win over the population even with your petty little riots in Jita and Amarr. All you did was alienate yourselves by making the game unplayable for some people in the game. This is not the way to win the support of the people you 'claim to represent'.
5. Threats towards CCP by...certain memebers...of the protestors. Whether you see that particular incident as a threat or not, it should not have been said in any way shape or form. DIAF can be constrewed as a threat at worst and at the very least openly violent, aggressive and hostile. CCP were well within their rights to ban Helicity.
6. There were less than 2% of the population protesting. Thats right, less than 2% of you. I dont know how you can claim that you represent the EVE Community with such a small amount of support. Before you protested, you should have gathered more support.
7. Attitude is important. You all behaved like a terrorist group rather than protestors. The chat in local in both Jita and Amarr did nothing but make you all look like a bunch of extremist terrorists, thus getting more of you banned for sheer stupidity.
8. You had no centeral spokesperson. It was just a bunch of goons, yobs, punks and thugs trying to crash a system to make a point. The only point you made was that CCP is having to deal with idiotic little cretins who dont know how to protest without causing damage.
9. You protested in Jita. One of the systems in eve with a population cap. I mean really...are you that dumb? They capped the population in that system to a level that the node could handle.
10. There was no point in protesting in the first place. You should have waited to see what CCP did and then you would likely have had more support. As it stands, you protested on rumours and thus had little support.

Every single issue I was annoyed about CCP has said they would resolve. So from my perspective the protest was a success.

I'm finding it hard to keep motivated now that I've quit but... I have 9 days left & I've committed to read EvE-O everyday & at least try to counter the obvious ALT/Fanboi rhetoric, if only because idiots & stooges sicken me.
It's extremely disheartening to see players constantly misunderstanding the statement on the future of the game. I honestly don't understand why people think the old hangar is coming back & CQ is going to be optional when the statement makes it clear nothing of the sort will happen.
I can only assume they haven't done their research & have been misinformed here by the disturbing amount of dishonest posts from dubious alt characters calling anyone not satisfied malcontents & whiners.

1-10
1. No, it wasn't based on speculation. It was based on what CCP said it planned to do in Fearless. And no, that wasn't some speculative, theoretical debate, we've already debunked that. Please keep up.
2. The protest was led by a bunch of veteran EVE players. We agree on that. The rest of your post is just ad hominem garbage.
3. Now you're just lying. The full version was MORE damning. It contained the 'golden goose' quote. And here's what the disclaimer ACTUALLY said: "DISCLAIMER: The views put forward in this magazine do not reflect general CCP company policies or decisions and are strictly individual opinions, written by CCPers or about CCPers who feel strongly about these issues." CCPers who feel strongly about these issues, get it? You somehow get "said memo did not reflect the policies or the mind set of employees at CCP" confused with "CCPers who feel strongly about these issues"? I wish your side would stop lying about Fearless. Your lies have been debunked.
4. "All you did was alienate yourselves by making the game unplayable for some people in the game." I think you have us confused with CCP.
5. No disagreement from me.
6. I think you pulled that # from your ass. Substantiate. Besides, I'm a customer. I don't care how many other customers are unhappy. If I'm unhappy and have excellent reason to be unhappy, I complain. Besides, your hero, soundwave, disagrees with you. I can pull the quote if you missed it.
7. I'm sorry we brought down the usual tone of discourse in Jita local. (Surely he's not serious?)
8. I said that already in 2 of my list. No argument here.
9. I didn't spend any time in Jita, but it seems a logical place to stage a protest to me and I thought the video they made was pretty cool. Shrug.
10. I think you ran out of ideas and posted your 6 again.

How dare you try and turn this on the player base. You should be disgusted in yourself.
YOU chose to go to the summit. YOU chose to drop everything to save YOUR game of internet spaceships.
Dont sit there and pretend like you were saving the world. The meeting would have gone no different had you been there or not. CCP knew long before they invited you how much they were willing to give and what they wouldnt give.
All we got were a bunch of bull **** statements telling us absoloutely nothing but a bunch of articulated spin that will no doubt see the introduction of a lot of features into the game soon that YOU and CCP decided were ok for the majority of us.
+1

I can only assume they haven't done their research & have been misinformed here by the disturbing amount of dishonest posts from dubious alt characters calling anyone not satisfied malcontents & whiners.
What...as oppose to you malcontents calling anyone who disagrees with you Trolls, Dev Alts or worse. Pot calling the kettle black much?
When I see someone with no posting history, no kb history, who is spouting CCP lies, I suspect him of being a dev alt. That seems reasonable to me. If you're not a CCP alt, have the balls to post on your main. In the exceedingly unlikely event that you're a genuine noob, then educate yourself before you open your piehole again. Thanks.
I've submitted considerably fewer than 10 petitions in my 2.5 years of playing EVE with 4-5 toons. I am hardly a whiner. I am a customer who is dissatisfied with a defective product I have paid for and who is complaining about it. I am a customer who has heard that the company I ordered and prepaid for steaks from plans to deliver hamburger helper instead and I'm letting that company know that's not acceptable. That makes me ... normal I guess?

It did not fail, we protested and we where heared.
The truth of the statements made by CCP and the intentions of the CSM lies as always in the actions they'll take in the coming weeks, months and years.

Did I stutter? "In the exceedingly unlikely event that you're a genuine noob, then educate yourself before you open your piehole again. Thanks." Run along, troll.
