Well if the 3rd party developer had a paypal donate button on their site, it is clearly accepting donations, and if there is no links or buttons for donations then the developer couldn't be accused of accepting donations...
Imagine I don't like your free site. I therefore transfer you 100 million ISK, take a screenshot of it, send it to CCP.
You've just received a donation of 100 million ISK and need to lawyer up.
I think that was the way Chribba argumented concerning that issue.
I think the issue is "soliciting" donations...

No, I have attempted to correct flawed reasoning and rampant paranoia on your part. That you interpret that as 'defending CCP' almost proves the validity of my post over yours.
Allow me to patronize you some more by speaking to you on the level I think you are: Games are not like Macaroni'n'Cheese where you can add stuff and get a perfect result every time. Games are not like Macaroni'n'Cheese, they grow stale if new ingredients are not added.

I'm sorry, I must have made the impression that I actually read what you posted earlier. I was just seeing the wall of text with numbers next to it so I was assuming you were defending CCP as everyone else does who answers to my initial post point by point trying to disprove facts.
I apologize.

Arh, so everybody who disagrees with you is defending CCP and is wrong.
Perhaps we are not so much defending CCP as showing how incredibly wrong you are?
oh by the way.. why are still here playing Eve if the game is bad and CCP are so evil?

CCP should shut down these forums until all the whining snivellers are gone. They are old, tired, boring. Things change, this is life. Adapt or quit.
I can hardly wait until I can buy Skill Points....

I'm not playing the game. I've sold my toons and now I'm waiting for my game time to run out. Why would any sane person still play EVE?

They don't need to agree with it. It's the truth, thus it's not really phased by people not agreeing with it.

Heres some tips, turn off CQ if your GPU is that crappy or go buy a ATI graphics card, mine is 40C on AIR with 2 clients up at max settings in CQ.
Turrets have never been so awesome.

I instinctively distrust anyone purporting to know the only correct "truth". As in "they don't have to agree, it's the truth". I've seen this kind of people on other forums - it like a fanatic cult and thus totally pointless debating the thread.
I place those in the same category as doom sayers preaching the end of the world tbh.
Please go away?

I agree that most of the 13 points here are valid.
However, I could care less what price ccp wants to sell vanity stuff... for all i care, they could make it $1000 usd.
I personally will not do vanity...
CCP gets my $ for my game time, and if that is ruined by the many other points (esp ship bonuses broken bug, and stuff like that, which is too common), then I stop playing, and stop paying.
To be honest, I'm glad the whiners are whining about vanity stuff... I'd rather those people NOT play eve ;)
MT or AUR should never break sandbox industry/mechanics of eve, if it does, I will quit at that time. I won't quit now, because it has not happened.

With regards to Incarna "melting" graphics cards, I'd like to point out that if any application causes overheating it's a sign of an improperly configured PC.
If you installed your graphics card yourself, it means you purchased a card that's too powerful for the amount of air your case can pull through. If your system came preconfigured and is overheating it means you've purchased a faulty system.
Anyone who's experiencing issues with temperature should run Prime95 for a few hours to test their CPU and then run FurMark for 15-30m or so to test their GPU. Graphics cards aren't usually designed to run something as demanding as FurMark for extended periods so if your card can handle 30m of FurMark, it can handle anything!
If either Prime95 or FurMark cause a fail or system crash / reboot, you've got a cooling issue.

They did not say the players were Golden Geese, they said Eve is a Golden Goose.
So many people confuse the "Golden Goose" with "The Goose That Layed the Golden Eggs", its not as offensive if you make that mistake. The Golden Goose is a goose with gold feathers that if you touched it, you could not let go. ******, opium and crack are some real world examples of a "Golden Goose".

Now here's the really mind-bender: Hilmar, for certain, meant "The Goose That Layed the Golden Eggs" too. He wasn't talking about touching our feathers (eew), but how he could pluck them -- and indefinitely, at that.
+1 for the interesting FYI, though.

Edited by: Yarrrrrhh on 06/07/2011 17:09:18 I think the 'don't listen to what they say, react to what they do' attitude is what makes the discussion about how Hilmar meant it obsolete. I don't care if the leaked email was 'pep talk' and it the leaked newsletter was fake. The fact alone that there are people working in leading positions at CCP who write this dreck to be read by other employees is eye opening.

It isn't a mind-bender at all.

And it couldnÆt come at a better time. As EVE edges closer to being the grand dame of gaming, turning 8 years old this month, and our other game titles continue their prodigious growth (yes, World of Darkness too û you got the t-shirt to prove it), our development road map is shaping up stronger and better. However, as a subscription based golden goose, EVE needs to incorporate the virtual goods sales model to allow for further revenue û revenue to fund our other titles, revenue for its developer: you. The model also supports the notion of creating a meaningful experience and identity for the player (more in our main feature on page 4).
It wasn't in the email, it was in the newsletter. It wasn't calling the players something you couldn't let go of, it was calling the game something the players couldn't let go of. You going to pull the wool over your own eyes?

too many CCP alts.
good thread imo, keeping it bumped. you forgot to add another reason why people are upset: old, broken features are not being touched; there is nothing on the horizon regarding FW, nullsec, ship and cap balancing.

I've also removed the Golden Goose reference because it is simply not stated exactly like that in the newsletter. Replaced with "I shop therefore I am" which IS in the newsletter.

So, if i've this or better and still have performance issues with the game i should turn of a feature i paid for? System requirements for EVE Online
And, in what way does the turret features enhance the gameplay versus skills not applying until a relogin?
