Edited by: Mixedblood on 06/07/2011 11:19:08 Edited by: Mixedblood on 06/07/2011 11:18:49 I'm currently a CNR piolet that started trying doing incursions. After a few days & some thought/advice, I decided to cross train to use a nightmare.

I could train & use one with the bare minimum skills for T1 fit in 10 days. Just wondering what skills im missing that are needed by the ship to train after that. Also, what skills would I train to 4 for the fastest dps boost? (So I can at least tinker/learn/screw around with it in missions till its ready)

Edited by: Remus09 on 06/07/2011 12:09:08 I'd say it's a bit early to cross train. Finish your shield-compensations and navigation skills first. but if you insist grab one or two of the common NM fits off battle clinic (f.e. http://eve.battleclinic.com/loadout/46554-Nightmare-Before-Christmas.html or http://eve.battleclinic.com/loadout/19551-My-nightmare-as-requested.html) and train accordingly (use EveMon to plan according to a fit). Apart from the obvious starships skill you'll need some lazor skillz, secondary gunnery skills and probs some further cap-management skills too.

Edited by: Mixedblood on 06/07/2011 12:18:27 Edited by: Mixedblood on 06/07/2011 12:17:39 Thanks for your reply. The plan i got for the 10 days is from the nightmare as requested fit. In specific, what lasor/gunnery skills would I need first after getting the T1 or faction lasors? (To improve my dps as fast as possible)

of the top of my head i'd say you'll want the following secondaries: - Controlled Bursts - Motion Prediction - Rapid Firing - Sharpshooter - Surgical Strike - Trajectory Analysis and sooner or later head for - Large Beam Laser Specialization

Thanks again for your reply, I looked around the evemon skill browser before & saw alot of those but missed 1-2 of them. Are there any Non-weapon skills of particular importance to a nightmare that arent as important for a raven/cnr? (As in something that i'm sorely lacking enough of that a nightmare needs because I specialized in flying a cnr till now for example)
Thanks again for your time ^^

You should consider skilling Energy Management to V.

I'll probably do that as soon as the dps skills are at 4 as i'll at least be somewhat operational then. (getting energy management to 4 after the dps are at 3 & to 5 later on...unless i noticed that I was REALLY having cap issues)
Heres a little timeline for my plan so far: 5 days - Can piolet Nightmare 10 days - can use T1/Faction heavy lasors 14 days - All dps skills & amarr bs are at 3 (This is when I start to tinker with it & learn to fly it) 30 days - energy management & all the dps skills are at 4 (This or the next stage is where I try to do an incursion with it) 47 days - large energy turret & sharpshooter are 5 71 days - Can use T2 lasors (though energy management 5 would happen inbtween & make it longer along with any other skills that are of particular importance)

Quote: In all honesty though, i think i'll skip T2 till the other skills are at 5 (because if i can just use faction... why train medium /small specializations & small/medium energy turrent skills to 5 & waste all that time? Large beam lasor specialization should come WAY later right?)
Pro/Contra T2 guns has been discussed plenty. I side with the pro as the dps-gain is substantial when using T2 ammo (not to mention that they are easy on your wallet). i think it's not only worth the training time, but it's mandetory when flying something as shiny as the NM. but then again why not fit it with horrendously expensive guns as well. ISK is easy to come by, right? On another thought I could agree to skipping T2 until you finish the Core Competency Elite certificate.
