Edited by: Temuken Radzu on 06/07/2011 18:17:01 Should it be possible to bring DUST to the Wii U, the new controller could be a awsome gimmic for the game (fitting/tactics) Plus nintendo has confirmed that the network for the Wii U is much more free than previously. Interview with nintendo spokesman Reggie:
Your online services are very different than what your competitors offer. IsnÆt something missing, that you canÆt offer the sort of experience I can get on Xbox Live?
I donÆt think it is an issue for us, and hereÆs why. WeÆve seen what our competitors have done, and weÆve acknowledged that we need to do more online, starting with the launch of our eShop on Nintendo 3DS, and weÆre going to continue to build our online capability. For Wii U, weÆre going to take that one step further, and what weÆre doing is creating a much more flexible system that will allow the best approaches by independent publishers to come to bear. So instead of a situation where a publisher has their own network and wants that to be the predominant platform, and having arguments with platform holders, weÆre going to welcome that. WeÆre going to welcome that from the best and the brightest of the third party publishers.

It would be a smart thing to do, I think.

From what I understand it's not even gonna be on xbox, just ps3.
Personally I'd rather see them put it on xbox before they consider wii.

I doubt that it will ever come to Xbox... Xbox live is entirely controlled by microsoft and they do not allow CCP to control a private server... However, from the looks of it. The network options of the Wii U will be simulair to the Playstation Network. Plus, The Wii U is a fairly powerful consule, it will run DUST just fine

this is what suggest to me that they are definitely going to charge a monthly subscription for it.

Just my two cent: you are not allowed to make a cross platform game ( PS3 and Xbox on the same server ). but you are allowed to make a PC and PS3 game or PC and X360 game. But from xbox live point of view it would have been an nightmare to deploy patch while on the ps3 it really seem more open ( See steam for ps3 that deploy patch for Portal 2 ) .
AND PLEASE Release DUST for PC.

It is allowed, has been done, but not as a MMO, but they need to custom make a PS3 wrapper for the XBox server, which is very hard
Reason why they most probably want to use PS3s is to expand their borders, since MMOFPS games don't really need much controls.
Reason why they chose PS3s and not xBox is because Sony allows the developers to make their own system (look at steam), Microsoft does not allow this on the xBox, they are way more strict. This counts for the WiiU too, limited flexibility

Steam uses a custom made updater, not the standard one. It takes around 1-2 standard hours to push out a update on PS3 It takes around 2-3 standard days to push out a update on the xbox It takes around 1 standard minute to push out a update on the PC I don't know the delays on the Wii [Source] Steam developer chit-chat
