I am seeing plenty of Cynabal's out at the moment in low sec, and wonderd if anyone could share some fittings that could take one out solo?
I normaly prefer Amar ships (I know) as my Alt is fully trained up but Im not picky on other races.
Thx

From the amarr line up... A curse or ashimmu maybe... or a fast lock Bhaal lol
Outside the amarr... vagabond or a hurricane mayhaps?
Other ways would be to tag team him with an alt or a friend in which case the possabilities are long.

A solo fit BS with a couple heavy neuts. Nano shield tempest works well.

Best option is a curse with faction point. Kill his cap and overload your MWD and faction point to keep him from coasting out of range. At that point kill him at your leisure. Another option is an arty rapier but that's minnie. If the player is dumb and goes into scram range, then you suddenly have tons of options. The cookie cutter plate harbinger will do the trick if he makes that mistake, but I wouldn't count on it. Landing at 0m on him won't work either, he'll mwd out of scram/web range before you get a lock or he'll be far/fast enough that he'll coast out of range regardless. An ashimmu can pull it off with a faction web + disruptor but he'll out dps/tank you, so although you could pin him, you probably don't want to if solo.
For bigger ships, a heavy neut or two makes a world of difference. The cynabal is terribly weak on cap so unless he has a cap booster, he's easy to cap out. The trouble is I'm not sure you could keep up with him even with his MWD disabled 75% of the time. So it's a bit dodgy. I haven't tested it so it may work. But it's not a method I would use typically. You could also try some gimmicky fits built specifically to counter cynabals. But that's an expensive way to go after just 1-2 guys. I try to get a little more utility out of my stuff typically.

A pilgrim/curse or ashimmu is an excelent idea, though my drone skills are a bit sloppy so i would go for the Ashimmu.
Thanks for the info

Careful with the Ashimmu if things go wrong they will go wrong fast! and its an expensive ship to lose espexially with a faction point, web and neuts

The problem with picking a Curse is its one of the ships a Cynabal shouldn't engage solo unless its very obvious the Curse pilot has low SPs in recons/eng/drones.
It is the perfect counter to the Cynabal (neuts/tracks) and every Cynabal pilot should know that.
I don't think I'd recommend a Pilgrim - a dual-prop Cynabal (standard fit) will AB out of neut/scram range pretty fast. At that point you're dead even with tracks.

No cyn pilot will EVER engage a curse.
Dual web nano drake, get him within 13 and he is toast. I know its unlikely but every other scenario requires fielding ships that a sane cynabal pilot would never engage unless solo (lach/zu, rapier, etc)

Get a friend man lets say in falcon and you can fly something that caynibal will engage 1 vs 1 but it can have dual web, some cruiser lets say.as soon as you scram and web him your falcon frind declock and story is over. Cynibal dram pilots will only engage A)ships thay can kill cose of more dps B)ships thay can escape cose of spead advantage So bait him whith one of those and get help from recon friend. End of story P.S Or you can get cynibal your self and try it out

The problem with fighting a Cynabal is that he can easily stay out of your web range while kiting you with his AC and drones. So the only reliable way to catch one (if pilot is not stupid) is to use something with long web or long neutralizer which basically ends up with Battleship, Curse, Rapier, Huginn or Loki. AC-Dual-Prop-Dramiel should also be possible if you manage to get under his guns before he makes you go pop from distance.

Out in 0.0 we have used arty canes very effectively against cynabals, he will be expecting AC fit, will orbit you at his optimal. you let lose with 650's and he's dead before he knows what hit him. only problem is holding them down.

Carry t1 drones in your Curse. When the Cynabal sees you, launch a flight of deadly Warrior I's, causing him to engage, then quickly switch to actually useful drones.
That should trick him into engaging. |

cynabal just wouldn't engage a curse so it's pointless. T3 is too shiny
Dual rep/dual prop cap boosted SFI is best solo cynabal/vaga killer IMO.

Pretty standard. It's not hard to chase off a cynabal or to survive one aslong as you are not caught where you cant jump or dock. Although the competence of most nano pilots tend to be rather sub par. Anything with a scram and dual web will kill him. A cynabal won't have more than 350ish dps anyway unless he is suicidal. A smart cynabal pilot won't charge you to keep a point on you especially if you can hit like 1500-2000 m/s with an overloaded mwd. You'd be suprised at how many cynabals neglect the 30km point to cut down on costs, this makes them especially vulnurable as they will be forced into a DPS race with any pulse laser or AC fit out there. |

Edited by: Tekitha on 09/07/2011 01:18:46 wow, some really terrible suggestions here ... rook / falcon - no he'll warp off pilgrim - no, he'll kite u ashimmu - see above lach / arazu - you'll slow him down but without support he'll out tank / gank u anyway rapier / huginn - see above curse - he won't engage obvious neuting BS - see above
thing is, any cynabal (or vaga for that matter) pilot who is even half decent knows what he can and can't engage and how he would approach that fight. trying to solo a cynabal is nigh on impossible ... the closest I ever came to losing a cyna (other than drunken r*t*rdedness) was to a nano deimos with faction web / scram who pulled an epic crazy ivan on me, luckily I had friends next door who came in and saved my arse but he totally had me beat, point being u need either some massively outside the box thinking (to the point where it'll likely fail and you'll be a lol mail) or friends to kill a cynabal. |

Well killing any ship solo/small gang requires deception or surprise. He'll never willingly fight a curse solo nor will anyone else. The key to being a good curse pilot is not giving them a say in the matter. |

Vagabonds sure, as there you pretty much know what to expect. And you know they dont expect the supposedly slow Deimus suddenly running them down at 2.8kms |

Laser fleet stabber kills cynabal allegedly solo, obviously something is missing from that story. And I have a pretty good idea of what it is given how many times I've traded volleys with adolf. He is a rather big fan of his ganglinks (as am I) and puts them to exceptional use. You can pull off some pretty crazy fits when you can point someone from 40km+ away with a t2 disruptor. |

Navy Omen eats them alive, they are bling so tend to attract flies like Cyna's. Your biggest problem will be keeping him interested long enough as they tend to hit the panic button when they realise unresisted shield buffer is no good against 550-600 laser dps
