Edited by: Lojik on 09/07/2011 12:56:02 A few idle ideas that may or may not be useful.
- In order to give something to the players, all NeX items should be destructible. ALL of them. Though if they can drop when a pod is destroyed, it'll be that much better.Vanity item salvage can be done by looting the corpse.
- All destroyed items must go on the Kill mail. Including the current unlisted items (Implants for one). When people make a kill, they want to know what it was worth. There may be some satisfaction to be had even if you kill a shuttle, if the pilot in it had 3 billion ISK worth of implants and NeX items.
- The clone Level should be listed on the kill mail, as well as on the corpse attributes.
- In-game kill mail browser/listing.
- Kill id on all kill mails, and the ability to enter this id on EVEGate and in game to verify the kill if needed, as well as being able to fetch the kill mail via the API using only the Kill Id.
- All participating players should also get the kill mail, not just the final blow. In-game these kill mails can reference the same Id, so not really an extra burden on the EVE databases.
- Character resets should be reset upon waking up in a new clone, for instance no scars, it hardly makes sense that a new clone would grow with the scars of the original. Scars ought to be "awarded" as the result of close calls in combat. The older the clone, the more scars it may get.
Any critique or additional suggestions for additions and alteration of kill mails, item destructibility and salvage. -- Edit: Added #7. |

This is common sense and I can't believe it wasn't implemented like this. It's not that long ago CCP stopped PLEx from being special by allowing people to get blown up with 74 of the things in their kestral. Why are they now reversing course?
Let us blow vanity items up and the lemmings will go straight to their credit cards to replace them. A win for PvP and a win for CCP. |

They're going to be giving us free aurum, according to one of the recent devblogs. Not to mention there are already people flying around with monocles, people who won't RTFM before undocking, drunk players and, hell, maybe we can even scam the space Barbie players into thinking you have to undock when the incursion alarms go off. |

Absolutely spot on, the true total damage should reflect when pod'd (cost of the lost clone, implants and vanity items). Maybe have pod turn to a wreck to be salvaged?
As for the Killmail idea I would suggest splitting it into: Kills\Last Blow and Kills\Involved. This way you can see all the kills you layed the last blow (what we have at the moment) and another where you can see kills where you were involved (this can get trigged via the last blow)
As for the reply that the Barbie clones will stay in the station... I have lost a set of +5's and I wasn't even drunk. Inevitably some idiot is going to do it and then the item should be able to be salvaged/dropped just like any item (by salvaging the Pod wreck) |

Or they can just take them off if there is to high a risk of death.

With loose Apparel like clothing and piercings, I agree, but the monocle does look like it's a fairly permanent fixture on the clone.
And regarding those. I had another idea. What if a broken monocle looted from it's corpse may yield something valuable when reprocessed, something that can be used by industrials to "upgrade" for instance T2 targeting systems to an "officer" level item via the appropriate skills and blueprint. If that damned Monocle is worth the same as most ships, it must contain something interesting.
It won't really be a"game changing item" even then, as the Officer item will still be worth less than the original Monocle, so no one in their right mind will fit a bunch of toons with them and go blow them selves up in the off chance that a "broken monocle" is salvageable. |

Just get rid of kill mails.
Nothing sadder watching a pirate self destruct to stop a bunch of noobs getting a kill mail. |

The "self destruct" only prevents a kill mail because only he killing Blow triggers one to be made. #6 in my original post, possibly combined with TyPh0ONZAS idea should help alleviate this.

I would agree, if that **** didn't cost like 80 USD. Allowing someone to lose $80 directly from RL moments after spending it in a video game is a line not many companies would be willing to cross - you're guaranteed to **** off most of the playerbase who spent that cash. And when they're spending that much cash, they're your most valuable customers.
Honestly, lowering the cost of vanity items significantly, and also making them destructible, is the only sensible solution IMO. It is silly that there are un-losable items in a game like EVE, but then again so are micro transactions. That line already got crossed though, going back would be tons of wasted money on development and planning, not to mention terrible PR. Fix and conform it to the game's standard.
