I hear they suck but it isn't obvious to me why. I don't see them around very much. The beam lasers are the best performers damage-wise for long range stuff. Is it just the lack of extreme range? Too much tank sacrificed to nano it? Too slow? |

First of all: Beams? What?
They will never be truly "nano" as they lack the mobility, but what they lack in mobility they make up for in pure power.
Heavy Pulse MWD/Extenders/Point Suitcase/2xHS/2xTE/Nano
~400 dps@30-40km Scorch Range, 600 conflag dps and about 50k EHP.
If you value raw dps look no further, if you value versatility look elsewhere. Very simple.
PS: It can even take out most Drakes fairly consistently due to the insane damage output .. more reliable at it than the Hurricane at any rate so that's something |

Nano harbi is lovely.
I borrowed Suleimans fit, he is pretty brutal with nano harbies. |

Edited by: Cattegirn on 10/07/2011 09:49:09 I like the numbers on the pulse and I def love the idea of a nano pulse harby that can stay just out of tackle range and be able to flee if more bad guys show up.

If you mean the double TE, double heat sink 1 nano fit then there's nothing really wrong with it at all. It's a little hard on the cap but it does nice damage, has good range and isn't terrible as far as speed goes.
People usually prefer the hurricane because of its speed, dual neuts and capless guns. But the shield harbinger works just fine.

Edited by: NoLimit Soldier on 11/07/2011 16:59:28 They don't "suck" per se but they are not optimal for the following reasons:
1. Lack of anti-frigate support once angular velocity has been achieved. (No neuts (cane) and no mids for webs(Drake))
2. Uses cap for guns and not enough mids to compensate (boosters)
3. It is slower and aligns slower. Somewhat in contrast to the idea of a nanoship.
4. Very limited damage types.
At the end of the day my Jag would be ALOT more scared to grab a hold of a nano cane than a nano harby.
****BUT***** These points are well known, and there is no better advantage in EvE than mis-information. I see a harby and I go straight for it because they suck.

I have been trying one out. 1st fight it did what I wanted against a Cane and a Drake. I lived, but had to gtfo. Drake was almost into armor.
Second fight I was really outnumbered.
Nano Harb means Shield Harb imo. It went down pretty fast compaired to almost any other shield fit. And to be fair, the guy's that were shooting me were pro. Probly had awsome DPS skills. Add gate guns and I probly shouldn't have engaged there.
I'll try a few more nano Harbs. I like Scorch, 10 drones, and Lazor DPS in general. My fit was very similar to Chatgris' fit. exception being 1 EM rig and an overdrive for a nano. 1953 M/S overheated.

It is actually comparable to the shield Canes when it comes to staying power, difference is in speed and "options" when caught. Just not a whole lot to do in the binger with a gnat buzzing around under the guns
Heaps more fun than the *yawn* armour fits though which is by far the most important reason to use it.
