Remember some early fanfest talks showcasing concept art and techniques for modeling and constructing animated avatars, how they spoke of the 'uncanny valley' where the character in front of you on the screen looks so real it s almost scary but not quite.
Dont see much of that yet, CCP.
In fact, your character animation looks rather stuffy. Shraply jerking camera, characters that look like something out of a haloween movie in the CQ lighting environment, characters that turn like animatronics on a dime when they change direction etc.
I thought this was gona blow my socks off, but maybe it s because I have an ATI card. :P |

Edited by: Moonasha on 10/07/2011 12:10:15 I'm pretty sure they didn't use mocap which is lame... their animators aren't that great, compared to say, blizzard's.
They need to fix the control scheme and the damn lighting... Don't get how this thing runs worse than Mass Effect 2. |

How dare you criticize this major accomplishment? It's technically flawless. Brilliant. Fearless even! |

Not sure what your looking at, or which 5 year old fps your comparing it too. But CQ is one of the most visually stunning real time 3d environments ever made. Try paying attention to the way multiple light sources cast multiple soft shadows, not only on the environment but on the shadow caster itself as well. It puts Crysis 2 to shame. |

You have managed to get ME2 lagging, yes? Maybe it's time for an upgrade for you. You should get a better graphics card than you have now at the price of a monocle. |

I think the lighting is the biggest problem. Remember that demo they had at Fan Fest a year or two ago? They brought in this 3rd party company that was going to create amazing lighting that had never been done before. I need to find that Fan Fest video, I wonder if that other company is still helping CCP with the lighting or what's going on with that. But yeah, in addition to the lighting making my characters look deformed; the lights also go through my head and body for a few seconds before the lighting engine realizes that my character should be eclipsing the lights behind him / her. I've got an Nvidia GTS 450 with the latest drivers on a side note. Hope they get this stuff fixed. |

You are an idiot. You must be used to playing N64 games or somthing cause CQ is nothing special graphically. |

I wish I could see the multiple light sources on my character. Alas, I have to have the shader et al turned down low or disabled. No, I'm not buying a new computer. I don't buy computers for games especially for one game. I buy a computer to do graphics work. CCP needs to optimize their game, not the other way around. |

Seamless forced immersion. What's not to like?

"First of we have Incarna, an amazing technological and artistic achievement. A vision from years ago realized to a point that no one could have imaged but a few months ago. It rolls out without a hitch, is in some cases faster than what we had before, this is the pinnacle of professional achievement. For all the noise in the channel we should all stand proud, years from now this is what people will remember."
So STFU and GTFO trolls! How dare you put down this epic achievement in 3D graphics! -- Frog blast the vent core! |

Indeed. No doubt the op is too cheap to upgrade his hardware and/or he should check with his internet service provider.

Age of Conann looks 1,000x worse in-game then Incarna, and that still hurt my PC that runs Incarna with no issues and was marketed HARD on graphics.
If you're disappointed I can't really argue with an opinion, but I'm happy with Incarna as a platform to expand on further. Definitely not 'amazing' but not 'bad' either. Just the style of the game.

If you check test server you'll see graphic changes almost daily - it becomes better. CCP released product which is nowhere near "finished" or "polished" terms and now some improvements being done on the fly.
Un-polished product is still better than 1 year delay or single update in 3 years.
P.S. CCP designers - please, make characters blink faster. Slow blinking looks extremely innatural - humans do it much faster.

Yeah. Somehow I think that's what they're all about. Deliver like 20% of the **** you announce and then control the raging crowd -> Crowd Control Productions.
They're good at it, though.
