Edited by: Ildryn on 10/07/2011 18:06:48 More propaganda. This is simply ridiculous. They stated to the players only vanity. They have reiterated that point numerous times. The internal newsletter was never meant to be released. The others weren't. This one was a idiotic stunt. No one won this little protest. It showed ccp and the rest of eve who the players are who are not helping to make a better community. CCP did not listen because people unsubbed. They did not go through all the trouble they did because they lost something. They did it because an employee leaked an internal letter. That caused havoc with the more ignorant of the player base. People who could not be patient and wait for the weekend to be over. Get off your soap box. You are only preaching to a couple thousand weak minded individuals. The more you protest and whine the more you look like Westboro Baptist Church. Trying to preach a point that does not exist. Biomass already. The majority of eve (those not protesting) don't give a **** about your little problem.

Yup. Those who didn't care to raise their voice when the game was being ruined by poor decision-making and even worse communication, and in particular those who defended the same actions, sure identified themselvesà

Nah. That was probably the only thing they listened to, per their own strategy statementsà ùùù ôWe want to try this thing called micro-transactions, but we don't know what it is. Can anyone explainà aw screw it, let's just do it! What could go wrong?ö ù ÇÇP |

Please point me to a CCP statement that says they will only ever sell vanity items.
Saying there are no plans currently doesn't count.

This is the closest statement that CCP has made, that I can see:
"Virtual goods sales in EVE Online will evolve through sales of vanity items, first in Incarna but later in-space features. The scope will be (and thereæs no design has been done around this, weære just talking strategy now) that anything that doesnæt affect gameplay directly can be, potentially, sold for PLEX or other means. "
Technically, they didn't say they wouldn't sell non-vanity items, but CCP certainly did intend for their statement to be interpreted this way, to quell all of the rage regarding the "PLEX for neural remap" incident. Tricking your customers into believing something that isn't true is just as deceitful as a lie, and might as well be one.
EDIT: I should say that I could care less about microtransactions. So long as the game is fun, I will play. However, I also don't find it fun to play a game which is run by a bunch of people who are unable to communicate with their customers clearly and honestly. Even if CCP comes forward and says "we changed our mind, we will eventually do non-vanity items", that would be fine by me. ----------

The inside of the station is vanity. Confirming they will charge 45,000 AUR to go inside the rest of the station when it is released in a few months.

The MT you are referring to is worthless visual upgrades.
The newsletter was a way to get ideas that were controversial from the staff.
Those who didn't raise there voices that weekend prove to be more level headed and patient enough to wait for CCPs return to office hours.
The current and continuous bashing of the company can only turn away subscribers. In the end people that are complaining and making all the bad press are only hastening the demise of a game they claim to like and other people still enjoy.

How many times do we have to go over this?
We quit the game. We stop playing. We cancel our subs. However, because CCP made a contractual agreement to give us gametime, unless we breach the EULA, we still have the gametime we paid for. During which we will sit on the forums and be profoundly glad that we quit because people like you have started popping up.
But Perpetuum is quite nice, thanks.

àso far, and the promise that it will remain that way is about as reliable as the promise that we wouldn't get any MT to begin with.
Quote: The newsletter was a way to get ideas that were controversial from the staff.
àapart from the bits that said "we're going to do this".
Quote: Those who didn't raise there voices that weekend prove to be more level headed and patient enough to wait for CCPs return to office hours.
For one, it started much earlier than the weekend. For another, considering the amount of trolling they're doing, they don't seem particularly level-headed. And finally, since CCP has proven time and time again that outrage is the only thing they listen to, raising your voice is the level-headed thing to doà
Quote: The current and continuous bashing of the company can only turn away subscribers.
Good. That should deliver the message that it's a good idea to listen to the repeated complaints, or people will start to really hurt the bottom line, and that a few voices can do more damage to the numbers than just the number of voices itself.
Of course, this is not in any ways a new or shocking revelation, but equally non-new and non-shocking is CCP's inability to learn from the mistakes of othersà ùùù ôWe want to try this thing called micro-transactions, but we don't know what it is. Can anyone explainà aw screw it, let's just do it! What could go wrong?ö ù ÇÇP |
