Dear CCP,
I want you to stop nerfing stuff.
Seriously. Aren't you always telling us that EVE is a game of choice, and that we should live with the choices we make? Well, the same goes for you! You make choices: stop nibbling pieces off them, afterwards. Whether it's my unprobable Tengu you nerfed, or the soon-to-follow Nyx pilot, or cyno-ing; or the Drake; and all those other plans you have in store to nerf, please don't do it. People make choices; sometimes choices for long learning tracks. And then you pull the rug from under them later. Not cool. Take responsibility for your choices, just like you ask of us. Because I'm getting really tired of constantly reading you're nerfing this or that. It makes you unrealiable; and it makes choosing a ship path so much harder -- not to mention, it makes playing the game demotivating.
If you absolutely need to nerf something... buff something else instead, for balance.

Although I agree with buff before nerf. Some things simply need fixing. And the huge issues that follow from say unprobably tengu's that farm missions all day and ruin LP worth. These things need to be addressed. If you train something regardless of the time it takes to do so. You have to know when you start that training that it may or may not stay that way. Considering not all nerfs/buffs are necessary. Some are, and you should look into the vast amount of issues that were resolved. Before you complain about not being able to play hi sec level 4's in your tengu, in a low sec system.
No ship should be un-probable, otherwise those people who trained to probe you out wasted their SP.
My knowledge about carriers, cyno, and drake which last time i checked was doing alright, isn't strong enough to really have an opinion on.

It is good practice to shuffle the deck regularly. Stops things becoming too predictable.
Nerf one thing or boost another, the effect is the same, so don't lose any sleep over it.
Get over it! Learn from your mistake and move on. |

And vice versa. :) 'Nuf about the Tengu, though (probably shouldn't even have brought it up). I'm far more worried about other nerfs I hear are incoming, like nerfing cyno's, supercarriers (ok, they probably DO need a nerf), heavy missiles, boosting, you name it. Every possible future path I'm considering, I hear talk of nerfing; and that's frankly a bit unnerving. I like to have a bit of dependability.

If a thing is too good compared to the rest, a nerf is in order. If a thing is too bad compared to the rest, a buff is in order.
What you DON'T do is buff everything else when a thing is too god compared to the rest, and that seems to be exactly what you're calling for.
If you choose the buff route all the time, you'll end up with feature inflation (which is not a good thing). It is the best strategy when you're dealing with an MMO to nerf 90% of the time, and only buff 10% of the time. This keeps the basic game stable.

Un-probeable booster ships are dumb.
Supercarriers are dumb.
Hot-Drops are dumb.
Drakes are dumb.
You deserve everything you get for chasing FotM ships. You made the decision to train for stuff that you knew was too good. Now live with the consequence of your decision.

In other words: you can't train for anything that looks good. Way to break it, hero! :)
Oh, and I was willing to live with the consequences of my decision... CCP wasn't. That was my whole point: people should be able to depend on choices they make in EVE.

I disagree. Life is not predictable, so why should EVE be? I recently spent the best part of a billion isk on a full set of halo implants to help me fly unprobable. Sh!t happens.

And you deserved all consequences before things like they were nerfed. Unprobable Tengu in your yard, yep he got one over you. SC blob ruining your day, you deserved that too. You made the decision to ignore the issue and not employ the same tactic, you could train for these ships all well. You lived with the consequences of your decision and whined about it everytime you lost a small small gang fight with an off grid booster, fell into a hotdrop, or lost a decisivie nullsec fight going up a SC blob while not brining your own. Way to bring your tough guy act to the table when you don't look on the otherside of the mirror of your actions.

This topic is always fun to read everytime it has come up over the years.
It will always be easier to nerf one or a few than buff many to compensate.
